The location, and rooms.

1. Noise level next door. We could literally hear conversations, as well as persons taking showers next door, so close-sounding as to be almost in the same room. 2. Over-air conditioned lobby. Almost cold! 3. Clueless, poorly-trained staff. A trainee working at Reception was alone, and didn’t know the meaning of “concierge” when I inquired about one. She apologized, and said there wasn’t one, which is nonsense in a supposed 5-star hotel. Also, not enough staff to greet guests checking in. 4. Poor and small selection buffet breakfast. Not up to standard to similar rated hotels. 5. Loud bar across road, blasting music into the early hour. Do NOT get a room facing the main road. 6. Pool overly-chlorinated.

First class hotel. Lots of variety for breakfast. The manager is such a wonderful person. She made it a special stay for us and helped me in taking care of my wife who was a little sick during our stay. (Her illness had nothing to do with the hotel)

I found the concierge to be very arrogant and condescending. He was quite full of himself. I didn't enjoy dealing with him at all and actually avoided him when I could. Such a shame as the rest of the staff was first class.

Location

The housekeeping is poor. Bathtub and basin are not cleaned properly. There were dirt! There are many small flies in the bathroom which is a sheer deterrent! Bath towel had some stains and bedsheets weren’t very clean. There are dust on bedside lamps and on the bed racks and headboard.

The location was excellent, nearby to fantastic eateries and cafes. The hotel exterior and interiors were a nice colonial style but clean and spacious. Staff were friendly

There is an indoor pool - with large open area giving the feeling of outdoors, fitness room, and steam room. All very well appointed and maintained. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most tourist attractions in the old town. But it is very hot so other modes of transport are advisable. The room was great, very spacious with good fittings, comfortable bed, storage spaces, well appointed bathroom.

We did not prepay for breakfast but had it on Day 1, being tempted by the extensive buffet, offering many different options. We were disappointed at the quality on offer, the juices were not fresh, the breads and pastries were not fresh, the coffee from the machine in the restaurant was not great. We did not have breakfast here again but went up the road. We did not see any guests in the restaurant at either breakfast or lunch again. Maybe the hotel could upgrade their offering?

- great location, walking distance to most of georgetown's historic buildings and streets - massive and luxurious bathroom with Toto smart toilet (built-in bidet, heated seat, etc.), full size bathtub and a wet shower area larger than most hotels' - restaurant served hot and delicious local fares (we had prawn noodles and curry mee) during breakfast, in addition to the usual buffet items - very helpful and friendly staff

- there was some thumping sound from the walls and ceiling at night (light sleeper here) - bed is on the softer side (personal preference) - tiny, single use toiletries. many hotels do not offer these anymore for environmental reasons

Serving lemon water near the door entrance has really much comfy to visitors. Welcome drink is very nice. The overall ambience of the hotel and rooms are great. Location wise is good too. Breakfast is good. Oh yea hotel is also providing big umbrellas.

A little comment on toiletries in the bathroom. The shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and soap seems to be from lower quality. Many of the 4 stars and above hotels have been using some real good quality in the market. Shower gel is too less for two person for a day and it’s not liquidity to easily squeezed. Improvement needed in the restaurant. Napkin should be provided. Serviettes served are too less unless it’s big enough. Some good sweeter to be provided would be appreciated which a 5 stars hotel should be.

Beautifully restored colonial building with great intention to detail especially in room layout. Centrally located to the many heritage sites and close to an abundance for bars and restaurants especially along Jalan Chulia. Staff were super helpful. Nice bar/coffee shop and breakfast buffet was extensive

I’m a keen swimmer and like to book into a hotel with a good pool which was a decent size and well maintained. However, because the pool is shaded at all times it doesn’t get a chance to heat up naturally. It was actually too cold to swim in and I’m quite resilient. My advice is the hotel management needs to find a way to heat it up to a reasonable level to make it worth using. But it’s a small issue if you’re not big pool user

Courteous Staff , all the people we met are so nice. Even the Parking Guard insisted to help with the luggage and guided us to the lift to lobby. We saw Alan, the concierge, all the time. Cheerful as always. Receptionist, Kitchen staff all are so nice. Kudos. Comfortable stay, great location, in the heart of Georgetown. Good range of choices for breakfast. Welcoming drinks.

Poor workmanship on the building can be seen throughout the room. Cement glue are obvious and uneven. Sliding doors are flimsy. Cracks seen along the corners of the room. Not a deal breaker, but the small details make or break the image of the hotel. The pool, it's indoor. I actually like the sun.
