The staff were very helpful and accommodation. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Geroge Town is a very walkable city, and the accommodation is located in a location which is just a short walk from Love Lane, etc. After telling the receptionist that it was our first time in Penang, he gave us a few maps, useful tips, and recommendations around the city. Will definitely come back to Penang and stay at Campbell House again. Thank you again to the team for being so helpful and accommodating. 😊

We enjoyed the friendly and professional service, character of the hotel and central location. The hotel was clean, and furnished with what appeared to be restored pieces from the colonial period. We enjoyed the breakfast and dining in the Italian restaurant, which was attached to the hotel. It was a distinctive experience! One that we would be more than happy to repeat! We also liked the no-shoes policy upstairs, but would advice against descending the stairs in socks. We also grew to really like the sounds of life in the streets below.

Nothing really, but it was a bit of a culture 'shock' initially as we had been staying in modern hotels with expanses of glass. My first impression was that our room was a bit gloomy, but I was quickly seduced by its charm - shafts of light passing between shutters coloured by painted glass etc.

This boutique hotel offers a vintage, traditional house that feels cosy and caring for its small number of guests. The small hotel makes every guest feel welcome as there aren’t hundreds of guests at once. The staff were so welcoming as soon as we arrived, offering recommendations of where to visit, both well-known tourist attractions as well as some that only locals will know. The staff would come around while we had breakfast asking our plans for the day and providing suggestions to add on to our trip. The hotel restaurant was also provided such good food and drinks. All staff were really lovely and thank them for their kindness towards us every day. The rooms were old but well kept and felt a treat to get away from our modern lives in London. Sat in the heart of George Town, it was close by to most attractions and you could explore the town mostly by foot. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, we had a great time and will recommend it to anyone visiting Penang

Honestly no complaints, everything was to our liking.

Campbell House is perfectly located in the old town it’s a 121 year old building that’s been beautiful restored with old world charm a small boutique 12 room Hotel with so so much character we stayed in the Opium Room all rooms have a given name.

That we had to leave 😕 The staff are incredibly lovely nothing was a problem, Kumar front of house is so caring kind and a wealth of local knowledge. Actually all the staff there are so accommodating Very highly Recommend this delightful Hotel.

They had turned on the AC prior to our arrival. It seemed every little effort had been made that would make it comfortable. There was iced tea and water in the fridge. The room was cool and dry and beautifully presented. They had left a couple of little cakes in the fridge in case we were hungry and these were topped up each day with a different treat, you really felt like you mattered to these people. Not intrusive but very caring.

There were some cultural things like taking your shoes off downstairs which were a bit fluffy but again the hotel had gone to such efforts to make it work by providing some shelves for the shoes and it was so clean that it didn’t seem like a bad idea. We could not recommend them enough.

We had the best of times at Campbell House. It surpassed our expectations by far. The staff was so lovely and fun, really open and helped us find activities to do. Breakfast was nice, with a choice of à la carte dishes. The room was massive and beautifully decorated. Big bathroom and exceptionally comfortable bed. We loved that we had ice-tea, fresh water and a little snack in the fridge everyday...it's the little details that make a difference. The location is perfect, in the centre of town. You are in walking distance of all activities in town. It's also very easy to catch a Grab from the hotel. There was also a 24h laundromat 5 minutes from the hotel, ideal for us to do a little laundry in the middle of our 2-week Malaysian holiday.

Absolutely nothing!

Fantastic location within walking distance of Chowrasta Market and the CAT bus stop on Penang Road, close to eating spots. Beautifully restored and maintained old building on the corner of Lebuh Campbell and Lebuh Cintra. Lovely staff, friendly and helpful. I stayed in a standard room opening onto the landing, small but cosy and comfy. Very comfortable bed, nice toiletries, coffee machine, with water, milk and ice lemon tea in the fridge.

Water pressure in the shower could be better. Be prepared for street noise (to be expected given the location).

We enjoyed our stay at the Campbell house. Our room had a lovely decoration, comfy beds, free minibar (juice and water and daily dessert). Was quiet and clean. Location good for the center of GT. Staff was always helpful and attentive. The Italian restaurant at the property is very good, and the breakfast served was nice and sufficient.

The air conditioner could be colder, GT can be very hot and it would be nice to get home to a cold room. No gym, no pool. Just relevant if you care about these facilites. if visiting again we would probably stay elsewhere, just because we found this are very busy and dirty, its has its charm of course.

A truly wonderful experience in every respect. From the location to the fabulous staff and amazing ambience of the place everything was pretty much perfect. Its in the ideal for exploring Georgetown of foot and there are many restaurants nearby. We particularly like the dim sum restaurant opposite and all the other recommendations from the staff were spot on.

Its a minor quibble but a local option at breakfast would be nice. Having said that what was on offer was extremely good so its not a complaint at all.

The location of the hotel was perfect for all our activities. The staff were all so nice and welcoming that we immediately felt at home. It felt cosy, and intimate, with personal attention and service, whether extra bottles of water, afternoon cakes, or directions to places of interest. We loved relaxing in the library corner, traipsing up and down the antique stairs felt homey. I also have to admit that we chose this hotel because they have a Nespresso machine in the rooms. Meals at Il Bacaro are a must.

I only wish that there was a bidet spray in the toilet.
