Lodge house was lovely, very warm and very clean and having the hot tub was fantastic with robes and slippers provided. Afternoon tea was lovely and staff very pleasant with good service Breakfast in a picnic hamper was lovely Would love to return for a meal as the quality of the meat was exceptional

The bed being two singles joined felt you were always tipping into middle of the bed so glad we only stayed one night Arrival: felt a bit like a spare part as left in bar without being offered a drink (wedding party also happening) or something whilst the key to our property was located as wasn't available from reception on arrival. We were told breakfast hamper would be 9am but ours didn't arrive until later so was about to call reception to find out what was happening. We are early birds and usually have breakfast early so being offered some flexibility for this would have been good

The meals were fantastic, The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed walking around the grounds looking at the farmers cows and the view was lovely. It would be a perfect setting for couples. The town that you get off the train at is very cute.

I would have liked to have had a tour of the building, the person on the desk explained that the pictures of its history were in the stairwell to the tower. this was the entrance to the honeymoon suite so not accessible. Nothing to do after dinner and we were seated early so it made the evening long. The town only has one cab company so had to wait both ways to get to and from the castle. Would recommend renting a car.

Located halfway between Edinburgh and Gretna Green my wife to be and I stayed here just for a night before eloping the following day. We had the place to ourselves, our room was very spacious and tastefully decorated and dinners and breakfasts we had in the Ghillie restaurant were excellent. A very memorable start to our visit to Scotland for all good reasons.

The only observation I'd make and this is probably due to the changing of the seasons, was that the heating came on in the morning which made the room very warm to the point we couldn't open the fixed and now steamy windows. Fresh air would have been welcome.

Light and airy lovely view from dinning room

Felt that the portions were far too large st dinner and had to ask the first morning buffet for coffee as jug was empty ,plates for buffet breakfast and then when we asked for toast were told sorry on 2 slices if bread left ?? The whole breakfast was very cold but they did offer to cook more for us when mentioned to reception. Small things like had to ask for hairdryer and also tea bags to be topped up as we we there for 3 days .Things small maybe but feel for a hotel of that standard not good

The lodge was fantastic! Great value for money and so clean. The breakfast hamper was so cute.

We opted for the Valentines sharing meal and were really disappointed with the quantity on the main. The portion size would’ve been okay for 1 person, not 2 people to share and it was £70 - so was quite expensive. We felt we should’ve raised this at the time. When we looked back on the Facebook page and seen this main advertised - it had far greater quantity on the advert than we got. However, the food was so tasty!

The setting was amazing , nestled near a stream and pasture and the building was beautiful! Our room was so lovely and looked luxurious with a great bed and spacious bathroom. Great lighting for putting on makeup. Full-length mirror in rhe room. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was lovely, my lamb meal was so good. The staff were lovely and chatted to us and made us feel very welcome. We would have stayed longer if we had time!

The rooms were nicely decorated as were the reception spaces. They felt cozy and comfortable and were aptly designed to match the castle's setting. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The dinner was nice and the breakfast was particularly good. The views from the reception rooms were wonderful.

I feel like they may have forgotten to hoover the rooms. Our rooms had a very disappointing view given the setting of the castle. There was no wifi reception in our rooms (in the building attached to the side of the main castle) and we had to go to the lounge to get wifi. This should really be addressed as it is an easy fix. The public toilets between reception and our rooms smelt pretty bad.

Beautiful surroundings and lovely views from bedroom and dining-room. Spacious and well appointed bedroom and bathroom, very friendly staff, beautifully decorated castle, very nice food at reasonable prices, good breakfast in lovely setting. Spacious car park.

Although we stayed on a week day, we would have liked one of the fires to be lit for the ambience, either in the bar or dining-room. Also, check-in is from 3 pm, but the heating in our bedroom did not come on until the evening.

It is a very impressive building in beautiful countryside. The rooms & bathrooms are of a very high standard. The food was delicious. The staff were great.

Rooms were very warm & windows only open about an inch. Asked at reception to turn the heating down as no controls in the room. Unfortunately no adjustments to heat were made during my 2 night stay. Also ordered room service for breakfast & the dirty tray was not removed.

The lodge with the hot tub was excellently provided. The hot tub worked well and the facilities in the rooms were good. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was very well cooked and presented. The staff were excellent.

The bed in the lodge was too big for the room it was in, a narrower bed would aid access.
