It was the first time we stayed at a heritage location and it was such a wonderful experience. The Pousada is easy to find but required a bit of a drive as we traveled from Lisbon. The Pousada was well-maintained and most things in the rooms were working except the blinds in one of the rooms and the key to the main door of the other room (it was nothing significant for us as the hotel team had taken care of quickly once we told the front desk). We love the walk within the building as well as around the compound. There were lots of common spaces (around the fireplace and the games area) for us to gather. The team was amazing - the Front Desk was efficient and professional plus the Bar & dining crew were attentive and friendly. Wish we had more time in this Pousada. Will be there when I next visit Portugal and will recommend it to all my friends.

It is quite amazing to sleep, eat and relax inside a 12th century monastary. It is decorated and maintained in a very modest fashion, that brings the building to the foreground in a way that keeps reminding you of how monks once lived there.

It would have been nice if our dogs would have been welcome in the common/social rooms. The weather was bad, so we didn’t go on hikes as much as we planned but since dogs were only allowed in the rooms, we spent quite some time there. Which is a pity because there are some nice grand rooms with fireplaces or tv, where you can lounge.

The property is a hidden gem, tucked away in what can only be described as a piece of history. Absolutely stunning interiors-unique but tasteful. The staff were fabulous and welcoming in all areas of the hotel and you can tell they are very passionate about the property. I would note that this is not the place to go for nightlife, it’s for those wishing to relax and unwind and appreciate nature and the beautiful surroundings. Get out in the car and explore the wonderful scenery on offer and you will not be disappointed. Well done to all.

It’s magical atmosphere. The people who had the vision to resurrect this monastery are well deserving of the Pritzker award! One doesn’t get tired of wandering around the property, and discover or imagine what life must be like when the monastery was fully functioning.

The bathroom door, please put a handle on the inside ! The breakfast coffee. Please instruct the staff to offer guests a cappuccino, or something else other than what tasted to me like instant Nescafé. I did not like the fact that there are some bad reviews about the restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner on September 21. The staff was efficient yet, unobtrusive.

fantastic project of reconstruction of the monastery of the 12 century made in 1992 by Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Soutto de Moura. Looks fresh and stylish even now, it is smart, elegant, and impressive. Just come here for dinner in a hall of the monastery that looks like a blast furnace. The breakfast is picturesque and worth being a story or even Instagram post. The air conditioning in the rooms is like a piece of art -- tubes onto the wooden honey color box which is a bathroom and at the same moment the headboard of your bed! The room floor is wooden. and the floorboard width is exquisite. Different levels of stone floors in public areas are connected by three steps red marble staircase. Green doors. Chinese ink paintings. Stainless steel room doors. Wicked armchairs. Leather armchairs next to the stone fireplaces. Embroidered hotel logo. Art. Rotating transparent doors leading to the cloisters. Even coffee tables in rooms, even balcony door locks, even coat hangers -- all are absolutely unique and made for measure. Absolutely rare, precious project. Thank you Pestana com for keeping it untouched.

Please serve breakfast outside as well.

What a superb place. I have stayed in a number of Pousadas and this was up there with the best. Wonderful old building tastefully modernised and extremely comfortable. Great room, great view and delicious food at breakfast and dinner. The staff were attentive and helpful and did everything to make our stay special including a surprise anniversary cake.

It seems a bit petty to write this but there was a glass screen between the bedroom and bathroom, not see through, but when using the bathroom at night the light woke my partner. A minor irritation in an otherwise fabulous stay. We wish it had been longer as there is so much to see in the area.

The hotel is in a great location, a short drive from both Gerês and the neighbouring town of Amares. The staff was very welcoming and helpfull throughout our whole stay, we were even surprised with a gift for my partners' birthday, which made everything feel even more special. The athmosphere was great, always calm and relaxing and the facilities were great as well, specially the pool, in which we spent a good amount of time in the sun. The overall experience was great and we probably will return.

The hotel has a wonderful ambience. It was incredibly peaceful, the views of the garden and hills beyond were very special. The renovation has been completed with real simplicity and style and the building has retained its authenticity. The staff were professional, warm and very helpful. Our dog was also welcomed by everyone he met!

Not all options for breakfast were made available on each of the 4 days we were there. It was quite inconsistent and a menu was only provided the day before we left. The fixtures and fittings, particularly in the bathrooms, could do with updating. The bathroom wasn’t very clean when we arrived.

Absolutely beautiful location and hotel. It was breathtaking and had a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The food at the restaurant was delicious with lots of local culinary choices. Walking the grounds especially in the early morning and evening transported you to another time. Fabulous stay!

Nothing - everything was fantastic.

Great facilities (pool, patios, restaurants, rooms). Very good breakfast. Nice staff. Good value. Very chill place.

Mid-stay parking lot was taken away. 30-60 minute drive to nice hiking places, but good access to Braga (30 minutes). Cappuccino very strong (I liked it).
