The hosts are fabulous and the breakfast was also fabulous. Host called taxis every day for us and they came within 10 min. rooms and hotel are new. Hosts carried our bags to the room. Taxis usually cost 100p going into the center and 150p returning at night after 7pm. The view was wonderful--down through the valley, mountains on both sides, lots of lights in the valley and hillsides at night. wonderful view. The two mornings we stayed in until noon were spent on the covered terrace.

Some rooms are quieter than others (rooster, dogs). Some rooms have better internet reception than others. Hot water took awhile to come. We felt like we couldn't come back during the day so we left around 11am and returned around 8pm

Very helpful and nice owners Good breakfasts, homemade Mexican cuisine, different dishes each day Nice view from the terrace Airport transfers available in a reasonable price - truly recommended alternative to colectivo!

Poor acoustic, it's quite loud in the room, hearing all the noises from the patio and some engine WiFi didn't work well sometimes It's quite far form the centre, buses are unpredictable, same as taxi The room could be arranged in a more convenient way

Ruben at the front desk was great, would call us taxis, order food for us, anything you wanted, he was ready to help. It was the first week this hotel opened and everyone was super accomodating, especially Paola, our maid/helper extraordinaire. The cooks would make you anything you wanted for breakfast, even vegan food. The view from the terrace was lovely. Little Caesars delivered pizzas to us there. Visitors from many countries made the visit fun.

It was far from the center of Oaxaca and there were no places to eat within walking distance but taxis to town were only $4.00 so we were fine.

The owners were very friendly and helped us when we needed a taxi

We stayed at the room 01 just behind the reception and as you can see on the photos attached we couldn’t leave the curtains open because it had a transparent glass window looking at the reception, that made the room very dark and noisy. We could hear all the guests that arrived late at night and also they would turn on music at the reception in the morning while we were still asleep. The bathroom has no division between the shower area and the rest of it causing it to be all wet after having a shower. On our second night we found 2 cockroaches in our room. When we were checking out of the hotel we told one of the owners about it and he didn’t seem to care much. For some reason that I don’t know, weeks after our stay I received a notification from booking that the hotel marked our reservation as a no show (?) Mind it that the hotel is very far from the city centre, it’s on the top of a very high hill and with no easy access to public transportation so you will need to spend money with taxis.

The family running this house-cum-hotel have no clue how to do so, so staying here will put you at their mercy. The reception area is literally the house’s garage, with the motorbike still stored within this area. We booked a luxury, double room and we were placed in room 11. It turns out this is in the basement, with no windows. The bedroom door is a sliding aluminium door which affords no sound insulation. This is especially bad as right outside the bedroom, the daily breakfast is served from 9-11am, with ear splitting noise throughout this time. The rooms are barebones with no lamps, or anything luxurious about them at all. Forget sleeping a little past 8:30am if you stay here! The toiletries are the cheapest and towels are all worn out and mismatched. I was quite shocked to see the state of the place, and asked to cancel my booking, but the owner just said that the hotel photos are representative of the property (they are not) and that they couldn’t offer anything in return. One day, I placed my towel on the floor which is usually a sign that I’d like the towel replaced - the cleaner placed it on my luggage to dry instead! On our last day, the hot water wouldn’t flow from the shower and the family had no idea what to do to resolve the matter. We ended up showering in a communal shower. When we asked reception to call us a taxi on this occasion, all taxis were unavailable, and they had the cheek to offer an $80 down to the centre, despite us having been late to our plans because of the shower mishap. The location of the hotel is 45 minutes walk from Santo Domingo church, which is where you want to be in Oaxaca anyway, so you’ll be at the mercy of taxi drivers to take you to town and back. There is no Uber, so you need to hail one off the street, and they charge what they please (60-100 pesos) for the journey. They also drive like maniacs, and no taxis wait outside the hotel, you’ll need to walk 10-15 minutes to get to a main road to be able to hail one.
