Was my second stay here and I was satisfied as I was in the past. Price is more than reasonable for the location and services. Room and premises in general were very clean. Breakfast more than sufficient and tasty. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

nothing comes to mind

The location and staff are exceptional. The people of the Hotel deserve all the praise. Its proximity to the Center of Eastbourne and the Pier is incredible. The hotel has a beautiful, old-timey charm which I really like.

An issue I ran into is that the bathroom wasn't exceptionally clean. But more importantly that old-timey charm which I personally really like, can be pretty off-putting. Our room had single pane windows, which meant a lot of heat escaped. The walls could use a new lick of paint and some of the facilities of the room, whilst sufficient in their current state, could be up for modernisation. The TV in our room was tiny, by today's standards. Good enough for me and my partner, but noticeable. Especially when friends in a different room had a much larger TV. (They also had a bath, whilst we didn't. Personally wouldn't have used it but again, I noticed.) It seemed a bit random, in that regard.

If you make the mistake of judging the hotel based purely on its appearance, mistaking a occasionally worn and grubby carpet in a hallway and/or a wobbly tap in a bathroom as signs that the hotel is a disaster, then you probably don't deserve to stay here. Always warm in the winter, fast free wireless internet and a massive buffet breakfast. Oh, and have you seen the location?

There are plenty of things to complain about, but none of them are important. Making a fuss will only encourage the owners to renovate the place, and then you won't be able to stay here anymore.

The staff were helpful and friendly, the location is great, cleanliness of the room and main areas was satisfactory. The bed was comfortable and the tea/coffee tray well stocked. The entertainment was very good, although once several coaches arrived there was a lack of seating.

The whole hotel requires an overhaul, from the lift which had broken down leaving just one very small lift for what was mainly an aged clientele. The lack of ongoing maintenance results in mould growth in grout and under mastic, something which is beyond the cleaner's daily excellent work. The bar was not open until 5 pm meaning even a snack or coffee was not available on a day the weather was inclement which resulted in having to leave the hotel to find refreshments. The food was adequate, but would have taken very little to lift it to excellent, more school dinners than restaurant quality. We had been recommended the Burlington by many friends who had stayed there in the past, it seems the hotel has not been maintained to that our friends experienced.

there was only one thing out of place and that was making tea or coffee in the room which i did not attempt to do as the water was not mains water coming out of the tap in the bathroom breakfast was a 10/10 staff very cheerful and helpful its a shame that the hotel next door was burnt down many years ago but it dose not look good it would be good to find out what is going to happen to that as the boarding blocks the pavement and it's been a mess ever since

i did not like people smoking by the main doors going in and out as i don't smoke and i found that very unpleasant there should be some kind of smoking room put in place

The proximity to the beach! Full English breakfast and the range of breakfast options, the proximity to public transport! Space to sit to avoid the heat outside , even though we had checked out at 10am. And of course to use free WiFi during that time.. kept my 8 year old occupied!!

I know it's an old Victorian building, don't know why some people are complaining about it here on the reviews.. yes it needs slight retouching to maintain the original features... But not that bad!! Pelican crossing in front of the entrance to the esplanade would be helpful!!

I really can't fault this place. It was an epic building with lots of history behind it. You can access everything in Eastbourne within a few minutes and I felt that I was placed front and centre of the entire town. 2 minutes walking distance from the beach. 2 minutes walking distance from the Promenade. 2 minutes walking distance from the pier. Not only that, but the rooms were quite clean and offered pretty good Wi-Fi. There was also secure parking for my motorbike and I could see it from outside my window for extra security. Additionally, I was just around the corner from the main thoroughfare into the shopping district of the Town. This place was a bargain and I would actually stay again

Again, I can't really complain about the place because I was even able to buy cheap beers at the pub located on the ground floor. It was slightly dated but nothing major.

Nice location, nice Supervisor in the restaurant called Sandy, she was excellent and so helpful and friendly. Nice clean comfortable rooms, always large rooms. Lovely breakfast, always hot and a good selection of sausages, bacon, and eggs.

One of the lifts was broken, so it only had one really small lift working that you could only fit two people in. There was a coach load in and so you had to wait a long time for the lift to breakfast and check out. Our room wasn't cleaned. One of the receptionists was very rude and wasn't bothered about our room not being cleaned, she was also eating in reception. She had a bit of a attitude. I had already signed the form on booking.com so I didn't have to sign in only pick the keys up and she said I still had to sign her bit of paper and made a big thing of it. Also the boy in the restaurant at breakfast was always moaning about all the other staff.

The hotel is in an excellent position along the seafront. The staff were very friendly and patient. The WiFi was good. The Maintenance staff and the Electrician were very helpful. The food was good (we had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. We upgraded to a superior sea-view double room with a walk in shower and we were glad we had done that. The bed was comfortable and the shower had hot water and was powerful. The coffee machine and daily biscuits were much appreciated. We had a lovely weekend and enjoyed our stay. We will return 😊

It’s an old building and therefore very expensive to maintain being a grade 2 listed building. It does however need a lot of money to totally update the building. It also needs a good deep clean throughout the hotel. We were disappointed that we couldn’t have the bottle of Malbec we chose to have with our dinner because the bar staff couldn’t find a corkscrew anywhere!!
