Staff super friendly (we had the young lad check us in) we were very early for check in during the horrible storm, our room was ready. Perfect and clean/super comfortable. Great views (of the wild storm) excellent handbook with lots of information in. The location was fabulous and if not for the weather it was very easy to walk into town. Bathroom ultra modern and the lighting in room lovely. There was a leak in the bathroom and the young lad came to check on it for us and gave a quick fix , this was all during storm Darragh and I think he handled things exceptionally .

Heating in bathroom not on, however I have no doubt had we raised this it would have been resolved as they were so accommodating, we didn't realise it was off until much later in the evening and was not a major issue. The bed linen was slightly bobbley which given the exceptional cleanliness and quality was a surprise, again didn't realise I til morning so not an issue just feedback.

My husband and I have recently had the pleasure of staying at the riviera once again. And yet again with out fail had a wonderful perfect stay . Accomodation/staff/food was all excellent. As you walk in there is a sign saying come as a guess and leave as friends and this is truly true . Zed and his wife are wonderful people . This is the best hotel ever that we have ever stayed in . And we would never think of going anywhere else when in Whitby . We are already planning on going back very soon . Love Kathy and Phil footitt x

Staff were exceptional, always available to answer any queries. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and cooked fresh to order everyday. The hotel is also conveniently situated 100 yards away from the Whale Bone Arch, so you can cross this off your list of attractions on your very first day! Would highly recommend!

I probably would have preferred an extra hour on the times for breakfast but that's only because the beds were that comfy, an extra hour sleeping to enjoy it would have made the trip even better!

Amazing welcoming staff and owner. The friendliest welcome which would make us book again. Catered for a gluten free diet and freshly cooked breakfast. Lovely view of the sea from our breakfast table. Loved the tea and coffee tray in the room.powerful shower ,shampoo and body wash in a dispenser, hairdryer and mirror in the room. The towels were very clean and smelt lovely.. I forgot my phone charger and they loaned me one which I really appreciated. Great weather and easy access to Whitby. Parking pass available for £2 for the length of your stay..

The bathroom is getting ready for a makeover, mould in the silicone we stayed in room1 It was the last room available so we could not book a .sea room.

everything about the place was brilliant it was super clean there was more than enough tea and coffee making stuff in the room the bed and pillows was excellent I was even cheeky enough to ask for extra sausage and bacon for breakfast and got it which I was surprised at normally in a guest house you get 1 of everything so very accommodating it’s right on the sea front excellent location I’d highly recommended and will stay again in the future

nothing at all

The location is excellent. Our room had a lovely sea view and was clean, comfortable, and spacious.

Our welcome was a bit perfunctory, and some inappropriate "humour" by the owner wasn't welcome. While the food at breakfast was good, the organisation wasn't great. Insufficient cereal bowls were available (although provided on request), and on the second morning, the muesli dispenser was empty, although we were only the second guests in the breakfast room. The member of staff we approached looked puzzled and said she would "do something about it today".

Lovely accommodation, room was absolutely spotless warm and cosy- we loved it. Ensuite was cleaned every day with plenty of fresh towels if needed. Dining room was a pleasure to visit for breakfast which was served to perfection with ample portions, nothing was scrimped everything was done to make our stay memorable and we will be back. Zed and Emma were exceptional hosts, really friendly and helpful. Great personalities and very, very professional.

Absolutely nothing.

The location of the guest house could not have been better, nothing more than a short walk to the main attractions, right on the sea front, absolutely fantastic. The staff were exceptional, polite and helpful when required and the guest house its self was perfect. a very typical and traditional English seaside guest house. The breakfast options were fantastic as well and were served promptly at the perfect time slots to set you up for a day exploring

Not a great deal could be better in all honesty. We were advised about the length of stair climb to get to our room which was tough after a hefty evening meal and a few drinks. However this is far from a criticism just something worth noting. Also the size of the shower was tough for myself at 6ft 4inches. None of the above is intended as a criticism more FYIs. The set up at the guesthouse is absolutely perfect and the people who run the place have clearly made the most and the absolute best of the space within.

Just stayed an amazing 2 nights here at the Riviera Guest house. I wish I could stay longer. The breakfast was so tasty. Hospitality great. Emma was really helpful with local info and let me have a little longer for a shower before checkout as I have a chronic illness and mobility problems and was feeling fatigued so was very slow. I knew about the stairs which was a little difficult but I took it really slow. My room was no 10 on the 3rd floor. Next time I will try to book room 6 on a lower floor. Lesley and Zed helped me up and down the stairs with my suitcase. I was able to Blue Badge park my car right outside the front for free for the duration of my stay. I must admit I struggled with the very small shower cubicle and would have preferred a bath but no rooms available with one. My room and bed was very comfortable and the sea view was AMAZING. Definately recommend this lovely guesthouse and prices very reasonable compared to other hotels nearby who charge a lot more for a sea view. Thankyou for a wonderful 2 nights stay Emma and Zed 🤩
