Location to beach and boardwalk . Buffet food was very good with range and quality. Gardens were beautiful and staff were excellent. Sea view with balcony recommended . Car parking was great at hotel.

Did not like the salt water swimming pool. Pool was not really inviting as most people preferred not to use it. Hotel of this calibre should really have a perfect pool. it was clean however. Considering that there was no tea or coffee provision in the rooms we felt there should have been tea/coffee service in the main building lounge during the day.

Rooms are very dated especially the bathroom, Towels were off colour and quite thin and washed out Breakfast was quite good but not kept very hot,the cups for hot drinks run out most mornings so had to wait for them to be replaced,we've stayed at this hotel 3 times because we love the location but don't think we will stay again unless they do some renovations

This was our second stay at Pestana Dom Jao II and it was truly excellent. Breakfast was beautiful each morning and there was plenty of everything. The cleaners here do such a thorough job and and very polite and kind. All of the facilites are well maintained and the staff are very good at their job.

The only thing we noticed was that other guests were up early and reserving pool chairs with towels. I cant remember that happening last year and I didn't think the hotel allowed it. Some of the reserved chairs did not get used until much later in the day. Its honestly not something I expected in a 4 star hotel.

From the moment you set foot in this hotel you feel like you are the only guest there. This was our third time staying. There seems to be plenty of staff and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Rooms are comfortable with individual balconies and excellent showers. Nothing is too much trouble for staff. We were even provided with breakfast at 2.30am on the last morning before our very early checkout. This was offered to us without being requested and is testament to how staff at this hotel go above and beyond for their guests. Bus stops right outside the hotel will take you to surrounding towns with ease. The outside pool and terrace areas are beautiful and well maintained. Hygiene levels in all areas are excellent. Buffet breakfast has everything you could want and while it can be busy, the efficiency of staff helps everything to run smoothly. Room service from the restaurant was also excellent with food delivered in a timely manner while still fresh and piping hot. Communal areas within the hotel are beautiful and comfortable and the views of the ocean are stunning. Upon arrival we were given a card which gave a discount on every meal or drink purchased within the hotel, this was a nice addition and we used it many times.

There is nothing we didn't like about this hotel. The only issue we ran into was with paying within the hotel with Google pay. Other guests said they had the same issue so this might be worth noting as card payments are the preferred payment especially at the poolside cafe.

I loved the stunning views and the location, I loved that the hotel had an indoor pool, free crazy golf, and an outdoor play area, I thought the fact that towels for the pool for a few days were free and the safe in the room didnt require a deposit was also appreciated.

The hotel was a bit expensive for food and drinks, especially for the food as it was quite basic food,

Location was exceptional right in the heart of Alvor just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Alvor with brilliant food and restaurants. The facilities again were exceptional the indoor pool and sauna was brilliant considering we went at a cold time of year however the gym and outdoor pool was lovely and clean. Beach access from the hotel which made it easy to access the beach

Rooms were outdated compared to the rest of the hotel. 50% of the rooms overlooked the main road but you can upgrade your room for a sea view. The hotel wasn’t at full capacity so I would have loved to be placed in a sea view room as it would have made my stay a 10/10 as opposed to 9/10.

Waited for four years for this holiday and were amazed by this location! The room was tidy and convenient, perfect for staying for afternoon naps and the nights. The room to the landside was good choice, shadowy until late afternoon. No need to use aircon although over 30°. Public areas wide, so much places to rest in and outside, everything clean and cool, staff always at sight and cleaning up. Breakfast and lunch buffet with a wide range, no problem to try new things every day, large availability of fresh fruit. (By the way, we found at least 6 coffee machines, no problem to get served ;-)). Range of Day Trips could be booked directly at the reception, everything arranged by the staff, pick up at the hotel. Fine guarded beach in visual range, clean water, no stones etc., good for walks, either in the sand or on the wooden walkway. We had a great time, thank you!

The sanitary next to the pool is functional but in a bad condition, doors of the toilet not to be locked. As per the very good condition of the rest of the hotel I imagine that's the next site ;-)

The staff was really helpful and friendly and the facilities were clean and great. They had outdoors activities in the afternoon as well as live music at night. Overall, the hotel had a great ambience and it was a peaceful and calm stay.

The first day they came to clean our room early in the morning, while we were having breakfast. However, the following three days we had to get out of the room after having lunch so they could clean it. Some days they didn't give us clean towels or bathroom supplies and we had to ask for toilet paper as we ran out of it.

This hotel was amazing! Staff were so helpful & polite. Breakfast is great. Cooked breakfast could be kept at a higher temperature, but I can understand the difficulty when catering for a large number of guests. Boardwalk is on your doorstep, and it's literally less than a 10-minute walk to the centre of Alvor.

The night we arrived in our bedroom It was absolutely freezing 🥶 Maybe an idea to have the heating switched on prior to arrival of guests at this time of year.

Miscommunication for transfer from the airport, but it can happen... They solved it very well. Some other gasts made many noice the first night, but they changed our room to a more quiet room on another floor. So if there is a problem, they quickly look for solutions. Personell was very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was good. Rooms were always clean. Hotel is also good situated : close to the beach and not so far from the city centre.
