Always decent value. Good location in the town, & excellent staff. Public rooms very nice indeed - some bedrooms could do with a bit of a refurb - but that's true of most hotels 😀. Either way, nothing to worry about at price paid. Breakfast is very good - and they will knock out veggie sausages upon request! Bonus is large, gratis car park. Trust me - other hotels and pubs in the town have limited and rather awkward parking facilities. All good - our third visit, and we would certainly stay again. Top Tip - check out the Fortune House chinese restaurant a couple of minutes stroll away. Always excellent.

The shower flooded the bathroom - I'm no plumber - but looked like the shower drain just needed unblocking. When we flagged it up to reception they immediately apologised and took the room out of service - so hopefully it gets fixed and it's just a one-off. The biggest hassle was being locked out of our room due to a faulty electronic door lock, at gone 1am in the morning. 10/10 for the night porter - who apologised profusely and rocked up with a machine to reprogramme the electronic door lock. 15 minutes of hassle that we could have done without - but it was resolved professionally. Again, hopefully a one-off.

Room and bathroom was spotless and bed was comfortable. Prices for food and drinks were very reasonable and staff very friendly.. Breakfast was very good with a large selection of food. Would use this hotel again.. Cost was very competitive .

Had difficulty in finding the hotel as signage was not that clear from the road. Room was not as indicated on the Web. Room 68 was in the basement with frosted windows overlooking the car park. Did not have the listed coffee machine and the wardrobe had no doors . Not the room we expected but did the job for one night. They state on the key card to book direct for the best rates. When I phoned them before booking they were unable to compete with the rates offered by Booking.com.!!

Room we were given was the furthest one in the hotel after a long walk found our key card wasn't working . Corridor carpets were stained needed replacing. I marched to reception then the lady saw I was cross and changed our room to near reception we were very happy with it room was lovely warm and comfortable. Breakfast was included and average we were disappointed with the fried eggs as they'd been standing until hardened scrambled eggs weren't the best either ,nice selection of cereals fruits and pastries though.staff were all nice hotel has large carpark and easy to enter unlike some Carmarthen hotels . Very convenient for wetherspoons, lyric theatre and a cosy pub called the stag and pheasant.

The breakfast eggs and the position of 1st allocated room . Hotel wasn't full so why give us that onse such a long walk away. Glad we were given a different room when I complained.

Centrally located with good size car park and very helpful booking receptionist. Our room was on ground floor and was well proportioned , also quiet considering we were over looking the car park. Breakfast was appetising, and catering staff very keen, plenty of bread, butter, jams, honey, fruit , cereal and yoghurt.

Unfortunately and sad to say the hotel is showing its age and need some TLC . In the bathroom some of the ceiling at some point has crumbled and the repair is very poor, also the toilet continues to flow after flushing which we reported so hopefully it will be repaired. The breakfast was good but had to eat in stages as we arrived at approximately 09.15 and were only able to scraps of black pudding, then the sausages were replenished and wait again for further 10 minutes for bacon, beans and eggs, my wife never ate any cooked because of the delays, and we appreciate that the flow of guests can not be controlled but experience should allow them to have better preparation and availability of the cooked breakfast.

The central position is great. Although the decor is a little old-fashioned, our room was perfectly adequate with plenty of space, it was nice and warm, clean, comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Our pillows were rather hard and the view from our room was of the carpark. Although a nice view is not vital, it's always a boon. People tramping past from 5 am, not being noisy, just going past on their way out, a constant stream, meant a good night's sleep was out of the question.

I enjoyed an excellent 2-night stay at the Ivy Bush. I had a sparklingly clean, quiet, modern room with an ensuite shower (choice of shower head). I found all the staff courteous & helpful and special mention for Julie and Ceri who went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I dined in the restaurant on one night and was delighted to find live after-dinner entertainment in the lounge/bar area. Two talented singers with a range of popular songs that were well received. I would certainly choose to stay at the Ivy Bush again. Its location is easy to access by both train and road: quietly positioned, yet easily accessible to the heart of Carmarthen near the Castle.

I found it hard to close the bedroom door without slamming it (is there a technique?). And I needed Julie’s advice to use the key card effectively. (Thank you Julie!)

Friendly and helpful staff, Bedroom was clean and very large. Single and huge double with large ensuite, nice hotel overall and easy to find. Nice bar, comfortable seating area choices, only us in the bar in the late evening so not crowded at all. Good choice of self service breakfasts available.

Arrived after midday Sunday in October, the restaurant wasn't open in the evening so the carvery is your option for lunch before 2.30pm, nor is bar food available. There are local restaurants close by however. Remote control for the TV was in reception 'broken' waiting repair. I tried it anyway, didn't work but just needed recoding for that TV so i fixed that quickly enough.

Locality the breakfast was very enjoyable although the coffee left much to be desired.

We were in room 92 on the ground floor. It looked as if it had been refurbished recently. They failed to remove the mould around the taps and tiles on the bath and they still use shower curtains how archaic is that? The net curtain at the window didn’t fit almost as if it was an afterthought . These things can be rectified easily it’s the finishing touches that count.

The accommodation was superb. Beautiful bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We dined at the hotel each night and found the menu varied and the food excellent. Also, the breakfast was fabulous with plenty of choice. An excellent location for exploring West Wales and Carmarthen is a lovely old town - and good for shopping. We have been before and will happily come again. Good lift access which was a blessing as my partner and I were both on sticks, following minor accidents.

What can you say about our Welsh weather? It didn't rain every day ....

We had a nice room this time but the corridor it was in was very noisy and we had our dog with us so every time someone walk through she barked. We won’t bring her again as it was to stressful plus we had to pay for room service for breakfast as we could take her into the breakfast room. If you are dog friendly please let customers eat in the restaurant if not don’t charge them for a cold breakfast
