Last minute stop off for a night's sleep. Lovely room, comfortable bed - unfortunately the lift was out & awaiting repair (they were working on it as we departed the next morning). Bottles of water in room & nice tea/coffee tray. Particularly liked the sustainable skin friendly bathroom toiletries with information on the company. Impressed me greatly. The smell from the dining room when we arrived rather worse for wear were delicious - however we were so worn out from travelling sleep was the priority sadly & an early start meant we could not stay for a leisurely breakfast which looked fabulous - perhaps next time!

Just the stairs & that was out of anyone's control- unfortunate timing.

Nice location outside of the town but within walking distance. Very clean, smart room Nice breakfast Good facilities

We had requested a quiet room but were advised we would have to pay an extra 50 per night for a superior room. This was not in our budget so I asked for the quietest room they had for a small double which we had booked. The room wasn’t particularly small, was very nicely furnished and there was hardly any road noise . However we felt they had penalised us as the room was right at the top of the stairs where people went up and down and the room was in fact an interconnecting room ( locked door ) . We could hear almost every word the couple next door said through the door and they coughed persistently . We ended up whispering to each other. We didn’t go down to complain as we felt we would be further penalised. What a shame as it should have been a lovely stay.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, they made it feel like a home away from home. The room was large and comfortable and the shared spaces were done up wonderfully for the holidays. A yummy breakfast, comfy beds, wonderful bath and shower facilities with good water pressure and most importantly kind and diligent staff who brightened up our day!

Some of the facilities were closed for winter which can't be helped and is nobody's fault. Some areas of the hotel needed a little maintenance but given the price point I thought it was great value for money! I will happily book again for another stay!!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was fine. Good breakfasts.

Most of the facilities were unavailable due to building work. The photos on Booking.com bear little or no resemblance to the present, and in my opinion, are misleading. The pool is out of action, and the bar is much reduced, with no fireplace. The draft beer pumps were not working on the day we arrived. I felt sorry for the staff having to fend off questions. Also reduced size of car park was not ideal.

The food (four breakfasts and one dinner) was high quality with the hot breakfast cooked to order. The room was comfortable with a very big bed and modern bathroom. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The location was perfect for our needs.

The lift was out of order and, apparently, had been for a while. The paintwork was chipped and the windows in bad condition. Although all the staff were excellent, there was often only one person covering reception, breakfast service and issuing towels for the pool. None of these issues affected the quality of our own stay but they suggest that some investment is needed.

Highly recommend this wonderful hotel! All the staff are lovely and so welcoming, the service was excellent and the food was out of this world! We've just returned from our first time in the Lakes and this was the perfect base. We started off each day with the fabulous breakfast which really set us up for a day's hiking, then on return we had a dip in the pool, and a relax in the jacuzzi and steam room, ended with a nightcap in the lounge, perfect! Treated ourselves to a three course dinner here on our first night too, and it was amazing. One of the best meals we've had. Many thanks to all at Stonecross Manor for making our holiday such a memorable one.

Very cute decor looked lovely. Facilities were fab, booked due to having a pool and jacuzzi which were great after a day hiking. Staff were super friendly and helpful, always had big smiles on their faces. The place was clean throughout. Restaurant was very good quality tasty food. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. Our room was great, had lovely views from our windows with a huge bed which was comfortable. Modern bathroom. Necessities provided such as soaps, hairdryer etc. Really enjoyed our stay, great value for money.

Only bad thing to say would be if using the pool facilities late afternoon there were swimming lessons on at the same time. Not major though.

The leisure facilities had been recently renovated and were lovely to use. Staff were friendly and helpful. The property is in a good location to the lakes.

The lift was out of order so we had to carry our cases up four flights of stairs to the second floor. I had to ask for our bedding to be changed as there was a stain on the duvet. Our room also had eaves which we had to be very aware of so as not to bump our heads. Curtains in our room seemed to held in place with elastic bands and the information left in our room was out of date. The noise from the road was disappointing, as our room was at the front of the hotel. It felt understaffed at breakfast time as the one member of staff seemed to be serving and taking orders for breakfast and tending to enquiries at reception. The staff member performed their duty well considering, but really could have used some help-something management ought to consider.

Food was excellent, both breakfasts and evening meals plus the bar available until late. A nice comfortable lounge area too. We didn't try the spa type facilities, mostly due to lack of pre-planning on our side. The room was fine, bed very comfortable. No trouble parking either. The staff were very good, particularly in the restaurant. My partner (who has experience in this area) commented on how good the waitress was.

We had an issue with the bath which wasn't fixed properly during our stay and the shower was too hot on the last day but apart from that it was all good.

I liked the relaxed atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. Everybody was very respectful to each other and this was not only staff but also the clientele the hotel attracted. It was a very peaceful hotel, well situated for accessibility to Kendal. My room was very well appointed. I couldn’t think of anything else I would have needed. Background music chosen was very pleasant and at a good level of audibility.

I felt staffing levels needed to be better. The 1 person managing the dining room at breakfast was also managing reception. She did this extremely efficiently but another member of staff would have created a prompter service. The cold breakfast buffet was limited and on all the three mornings I ate there, supplies of yoghurt and fruit salad were low, or replaced too latterly & on one occasion yoghurt was none existent. Poor value for money especially if a cooked breakfast wasn’t to your liking.
