The location was perfect. I was there for a family event, but was able to visit and learn about Berea College and thought that was a bonus. The staff are excellent. Perfect on that account.
It was difficult to sleep. The a/c controls are not very good. The best I could figure was you could set a timer for 30 or 60 minutes, then it would stop running. So, I got up every 30 minutes, then every 60 minutes to turn it back on. I defaulted to ceiling fan and opening the window, but the ceiling fan roars (it's too loud to sleep and with the occasional car/truck rumbling by, it's not an option. Also while I think a duvet is fine in the cold weather, there's not an option for a sheet and a light blanket.

The location was beautiful, right on the Campus of Bereas College, the charm of the old building was lovely. Lot's of history to read when looking around the hotel. The food was great and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The bed, well, the mattress was awful! It was the worst mattress I've ever slept on. It was so old and worn in, ugh, just thinking about it makes me feel like I have a metal spring in my back. The person across the hall was also obnoxious. They slammed the door shut every time they entered or left. It was 4 times in a row (I'm assuming they were getting ice or snacks or something) at 1 AM. It didn't matter if it was morning, afternoon, evening, or middle of the night, they slammed the door with no care about others. Also, the cleaning staff talked loudly, and often to each other outside the rooms while we were trying to sleep, since we didn't sleep well due to the mattress, it just combined to be annoying.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful historic hotel in Berea, Kentucky for a night on the way to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The hotel was nicely decorated, clean, and amazingly beautiful. The grounds are beautiful and well up kept. Located on college a campus, it was actually a very pleasant place to visit. The queen and king bedrooms were very comfortable; we stayed in both rooms a week apart. The restaurant was very nice for breakfast and dinner; the dinner options were delicious and served nicely hot. The drinks were delicious as there was a great selection of libations. We loved our experience so much that we booked it again on our way back home from the Smokey Mountains. We would consider staying here again.

Hotel was beautiful and rich in History. I love that the hotel is owned by the college and supports the school. The staff was great and everyone was happy to share the history. Loved the coffee shop that also serves cocktails and small bites.
The beds could be more comfortable and the bathrooms were hard for women who do makeup. There is not any counter space to hold things. We did happen to stay in a handicap room and maybe that has something to do with it? Also, it was a hot day but the AC seemed not to be keeping the room very cool. There is a ceiling fan and that helped keep it cool in the room along with the ac. It is an older hotel so some of this is to be expected. We loved the hotel nonetheless.

Loved the location, the staff, the historic ambiance. Extra special surprise was being referred to Papa Leno's for dinner after Boone's restaurant had closed. Papa Leno's Italian sandwich (cold) was excellent.
Specific to my room, #328, here are the things that would have boosted my 4's to 5's. (1) A small work desk. (2) A chair. (Any chair, but preferably one to go with the desk. I had a Zoom meeting scheduled and had to use the ironing board for a desk as I sat on the bed. Not ideal, but it worked.) (3) A working bedside lamp. I never could get the one I had to work, even after the staff provided new lightbulbs and I switched out plugs as well, just in case. So it goes.

The facility itself.
The food was really inadequate. Breakfast was extremely greasy - there were pools of oil on my plate when I finished. It was hard to eat around all the grease on that plate. I joined a group for dinner and I' it was barely acceptable. I got a burger with soft. cold fries and my spouse found the scallops tasteless because there was no lemon or spice of any sort on them. I have eaten with you before and I really enjoyed it, but yesterday the kitchen was bad for me from beginning to end.

We loved our stay at this historic hotel in Berea! The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings was appreciated. There are many gathering areas on the main level filled with charming touches, like fresh flowers. The friendly staff made our stay!
This is a historic hotel so the rooms are smaller than modern places. However the bathrooms are updated and very clean.

Love older hotels and have stayed at Seelbach & The Brown. Rooms are always roomier. Parking convenient and cute shops within short walk. Had dinner before concert which was excellent! Bed was very comfortable.
Actually, not much we didn’t like. The sheets could’ve been nicer. Polyester doesn’t wash well long-term, and they looked gray and old. Missed having vanity in bath and mirror in room inconvenient for use,

Worth the few mile detour from the interstate. Set in a beautiful part of town. Lovely old southern gentile feel. Lots of charm. Built in the early 1900s and attached to the picturesque historic Berea College campus. A delightful change from the modern industrial chain motel. Made to feel welcome. Room was well appointed, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Nicely updated without taking away from original feel. The lobby is grand, very lovely and spacious with separate sitting areas, beautiful furniture, fresh flower arrangements, and a baby grand piano. Each floor has its own beautifully appointed lounge area to read or play table games (available in the lobby). The porch areas have beautiful flowering plants. The coffee shop is a real treat. The staff is kind and thoughtful and attentive. It's the kind of place you just want to stay for a while and relax and forget about the rest of the world. Unfortunately, we had to move on.
Parking was limited and very difficult if you have an oversized vehicle or trailer. The restaurant food is hit or miss. Lots of other food options nearby.

The rooms were cozy and the furnishings were beautiful. I loved the restaurant (The spoon bread was out of this world!). The food was delicious. Every single employee was friendly and helpful. The history of the Inn and College were a very compelling reason to stay there.
We only stayed one night, so it served our needs perfectly. If it were for more than one night or if we were going to spend more time in the room, it might have become claustrophobic.
