What a lovely room!! and superb location. The stone wall and architectural quirks were full of local art work. you can tell it’s a family business that truly care about their guests… The balcony was the perfect place to sit and be amongst the busy Harbour working port, watching the donkeys go by, and as bed was tucked away up stairs offering rest - a perfect combinations of “busy” and “peaceful” easily found. From Sofia we walked to Mt Eros - caught taxi boats right outside the window - mooched around the cobbles and felt we had a home from home, in the centre of it all!! breakfast was lovely, homemade and non fussy with local dishes!! all guests sitting together on one large table - with interesting morning conversation. A 3 night stay here was a real window into Hydra…… if you want to be at the heart of it all - Sofia is waiting for you to call…..

I couldn't have been happier with everything this boutique hotel provided for my 3-night stay in Hydra (Aug 2024)! If I had to choose one thing that was especially to my liking, it would have to be the breakfast - imagine eating homemade cheese (and cheese + spinach) pie, made by the wonderful owner, with a healthy selection of cheeses, eggs, cherry tomatoes, followed by homemade sweets, eaten with coffee. The staff did everything they could to make my stay memorable and answer all my questions. The hotel was right in the heart of the port, so the breakfast was with a view of the expansive sea - it's priceless. The cleanliness of the room (I was in a single room) deserves a mention of its own as well. I know where I'll be staying for my next stay in Hydra!
I loved everything, so this question is simply unnecessary.

We travelled in the Greek islands for 3 weeks and Hotel Sophia was easily the most enjoyable place we stayed at. Its location directly on the water front was perfect, it took us less than 5 minutes to get from our ferry to the hotel door and the welcome from our host was warm and helpful. Although it was possible to take your breakfast on a tray to your own balcony - the atmosphere in the dining room with guests from all over the world sharing a large table and chatting happily to each other was not to be missed! Also, the food was delicious. Our room was quite large, the mattress was firm and comfortable and everything was clean.
Nothing. Hydra is a lovely island and we loved being awoken by the sound of mules carrying goods up the small road beneath our room - a great way to start the day.

This 6-room hotel is located right on the Hydra seaport! Very much a welcoming home atmosphere with very caring, helpful and accommodating staff. Extremely good breakfast cooked by the sisters who own the hotel, with a huge choice of delicious things to eat. Breakfast is eaten around a large table; a great opportunity to meet and chat to your fellow guests. This unique Greek experience of a hotel is run by two cheerful and energetic sisters who are now the fourth generation of the same family to own it. We loved our comfortable room with a balcony that overlooked the hustle and bustle of the harbour and were delighted with our helpful and friendly hosts.
There isn’t anything we didn’t like about the property; it was perfect!

Angelina was a wonderful hostess, very welcoming. The room was small but there was lots of storage spaces. We had the corner balcony room overlooking the port and were very entertained by watching boats untangle anchors, freight unloaded from boats and loaded on donkeys and tourists walking and talking. The breakfasts were varied and good. Guests eat around one table so there was good conversation from international travelers. We would highly recommend this gem.

Like stepping back in time - a gem of an old worldly hotel run with so much charm you can only fall in love. Two fabulous sisters are the custodians who care, cook ( a sublime breakfast) and even clean the hotel, it is so rare to find people and places like this, it makes you appreciate it so much more. I met a couple who have been coming here for 15 years and I can understand why, something magic about it and the entire island. A place I would rather no one knows about though, keep the secret to the lucky few.

The hotel is a beautiful building on the harbour, so it’s busy outside from early morning until late at night! The staff were just wonderful; friendly, welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful, if on the small side, but the bed was large and very comfortable. We didn’t have a balcony but could use one that looked into the harbour which was fun, as there was always something happening! The breakfast is the stuff of legends! I can’t imagine enjoying a hotel breakfast as much ever again ☺️
It was fabulous

The Sophia hotel was the first hotel on Hydra. Spectacular location in literally the centre of the port. The owners were exceptional in the way they treated us. On departure we had a very early ferry and they were very kind to prepare a nice breakfast for us and delivered it to our room the evening before. The room reflected the proud history of this hotel, and was exceedingly comfortable. We have decided that we are definitely coming back to Hydra and the Sophia is our hotel of choice.

I had an absolutely delightful stay at Hotel Sophia in Hydra! The rooms were impeccably designed and offered the perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The rich and amazing breakfast spread was a wonderful way to start the day, offering a variety of delicious options to satisfy any palate. However, what truly set this experience apart was the exceptional hospitality of the hostess, Vasiliki. Her warmth, friendliness, and genuine willingness to assist made me feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. She went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my visit was memorable and enjoyable. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I felt like a valued guest. The attention to detail in both the accommodations and the service provided made this stay an unforgettable one. If you're looking for a place where you can relax, indulge, and be treated with the utmost care, Hotel Sophia in Hydra is the perfect choice. Thank you, Vasiliki, for making my stay exceptional!

One of the best small hotels I've ever stayed in, the owner is just lovely, she bakes fresh pies and cakes every morning, and the big breakfast table makes you get to know the other guests and adds to the experience. The room is big and the bed very comfortable
I stayed in the "budget room" which has windows that look at a small indoor balcony that has a machine that makes noise at random times and it can be annoying if you have the windows opened (you can't hear it if you close them though)
