When we arrived, we were told we had been upgraded to the Namib Naukluft Lodge. We had seen a bus group parked at Soft Adventure, so we were happy to receive the upgrade. My review will be for the lodge. The setting is very peaceful, and beautiful rock formations set in the desert landscape make it feel special, especially at sunset. There is a cold swimming pool which is a welcome respite from the heat. The rooms have AC and ceiling fans, which helps a lot. All of the rooms look straight out onto balconies facing the desert expanse. Dining in the evenings is a treat as dinner was served outdoors at sunset, and the meal is four courses with salads making a fifth. The food was very good, some courses were amazing. My personal favorites were the lamb and polenta with some sort of magic sauce and the oryx raviolis.

Every room would benefit from a mini fridge, right now some have and some do not. Double check your final bill as we had a few extra drink charges.

What an amazing surprise! We were fortunate enough to find this camp and get a last minute reservation. They generously upgraded us from the camp to the lodge. Once we were settled- our boys hiked a fantastic rock mountain hill behind the property while we lounged on our patio and looked at the most spectacular sunset across the desert. The room was clean, spacious, and comfy and the dinner was absolutely delicious. We were wined and dined like VIP guests in a gorgeous outdoor setting. The brothers who own this property have stories to share and were so helpful. I will thank them now because our family really enjoyed the special excursion/hike that they sent us on. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Thank you so much for sharing your history on this incredible property and what you used to do when you grew up there. We really really enjoyed our stay. A special space and we hope to be back!

Nothing.

I always wanted to stay in a place were I was alone, could see into the future, quietness is exceptional, just what we want, would like to stay here for at least 2-3 nights. This was a stop over on way to Windhoek. When we arrived we went for a loooong walk, saw Oryx, Mountain Zebra. Sunset was one for a calender. Room was great and comfortable. Beautiful spacious shower. Solar geyser & electricity. One for my Bucket list. Kettle and coffee and camp fridge, safe. 3 single beds. Really wonderful.

Only 1 chair, but 3 beds? No cutlery except for the coffee cups. Small table in shower would be very helpfull for clothes & vanity case.

This is a beautiful lodge which is immaculately clean, neat and well maintained. The rooms in the lodge are very comfortable and the location is stunning with an amazing outlook over a plain with mountains in the background. The night skies are breathtaking. Owners are friendly and approachable. There is a very nice swimming pool and area where you can relax. Dinner was served outdoors and was delicious.

We booked for the Soft Adventure Camp and were offered an upgrade to the lodge rooms, which we appreciated. I think it would be nice at some point in the future, for the Soft Adventure Camp to consider a simple washing up area and braai stand at the soft adventure camp as when you are travelling extended time in Namibia, you don't always want to eat a huge meal and it increases the cost of the stay quite dramatically, especially if you are a South African. This is, of course, the prerogative of the facility to choose what services and facilities they offer. But we have no complaints, we enjoyed our stay in this lovely lodge.

The property was amazing. We weren’t sure what to expect and were pleasantly surprised to see how nice and well maintained it was! We had a large group including children, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was a BBQ dinner in a beautiful outdoor space. We were only there for 1 night but would have liked to stay longer. The staff helped us plan our trip to Sossusvlei the next day also.

Nothing really- it was more weather-related. It was cold and windy that night, so the canvas window flaps were noisy when the wind blew.

We liked the Soft Adventure Camp - it was a tented room, very comfortable and hot shower. They can rather call it Soft Camping Facilities.

We could not afford breakfast or dinner in the Lodge and the Tented Room had no facilities to make your own food. There was kitchen facilities, but no utencils&cutlery, luckily we had our own. There was a braai near the little splash pool, but we used all our own stuff but I am sure if you ask, the staff will help you out.

Due to low season we were upgraded to Naukluft lodge which is a few hundred meters away from soft camping. Idyllic location in the middle of the desert. Very quiet and peaceful. You can see wild animals wandering around from your balcony. Ground squirrels even come to your balcony and can be hand-fed.Very comfy beds and good meals. Very friendly owners. They even helped us with our car troubles. Overall we had a fantastic stay!

Could not find anything negative even if i tried

We did not stay at the Soft Adventure Camp but in the main building. The staff were really helpful with information about the area and what and how to do things.

I know you are in the desert and you shouldn't really be worrying about the outside world but there are no TV's, even the one in the common room/bar wasn't currently working. As the Euros were on while we were there it would have been nice to chill and watch a bit of sport after a long tiring day.

The picturesque desert views and easy access to tours booked with the hotel make this a great place to set up base camp. The dinners were delicious - well worth the very competitive price. I din't like the fact that there was no coherent wine list, because the verbal quotes did not match the bill at all. We also had extra breakfasts and extra wine billed to our rooms, but the owner was very helpful in getting these removed. The guide to Sossusvlei, Werner, is extremely knowledgeable, ask for him. Also, Erickson was a great help and also quite witty. I enjoyed our banter.

I am still confused about the self-catering situation at Soft Adventure Camp. On bookings.com they sent a message that they could get groceries for us upon request. We decided to get our own groceries, but we phoned to ask if they had braai wood. The receptionist informed us that there are no braai facilities or communal kitchen, so we brought little in the line of provisions after all. Upon arrival however, they said there are braai facilities at the camp, but then the owner said it's not self-catering. I don't get it, but considering the remoteness of the region, we were upgraded to the lodge so that we didn't have to dry over to the hotel for every meal.

We were upgraded from the Soft Adventure to the main lodge on arrival. We weren't keen to begin with as we had hoped to be away from everyone but actually it made no difference, the site is set up so that you feel like you are away from everyone anyway and the view from the private terrace was perfection. The signposted walk around the property and the sunset viewing spot were also fabulous, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Another great Namibian experience.

Nothing! It's the most amazing location and if the marginally dated bathrooms and room decor (but very clean and functional) put you off, then frankly you don't deserve to stay somewhere as stunning as this!
