Classic old pub, restaurant with accommodations. I’ve ambiance, Langland waited up until our arrival as 11.45 due to work issues. Dog friendly and lovely location alongside lake. Walking distance Good for short dog walk locally.
Classic old school pub, but sympathetically modernised. Very comfortable. The landing to rooms, worth a smile, the floor nicely uneven giving the impression that one had a good night at the bar… The service staff could do with smiling at their costumers. The breakfast was good, but ticking boxing on everything you wanted on your plate was a bit odd, all I wanted was a full English? I may have overlooked a box or something?

The room was spacious enough; The staff were friendly enough. The welcome was warm. The dining room was well prepared and the food was lovely. The bathroom was adequate and the shower easy to operate. The corridor was nice with books to read for eg Lakeland walks & a comedic book 😁 The location was idyllic being so close to the Lakeside and near to convenient pubs, one of which we paid a visit to.
For breakfast, I'd ordered vegetarian but was surprised to find a meat sausage on my plate with the other items of food. I had to tell the kitchen staff upon which they made me a fresh (vegetarian) sausage &/ breakfast. The only other thing I didn't like was that the shower was too small. The shampoo holder (stuck to the wall with suckers) fell off the wall during my shower as I'd struck it inadvertently because of the limited space within the shower cubicle.

I loved the location. 10 mins walk to Ullswater Lake. Didn't know there's a bus from Penrith Station which stops outside the Sun Inn. Another plus is the 508 bus into Penrith village has a bus stop right outside the hotel. The staff were friendly and very diligent in making sure we were attended to. Breakfast is great! Compliments to the chef as dinner was excellent!
The Inn has an old air about it, perhaps because of the age of the building, suggest the windows on the landing where the rooms are located be opened regularly to allow fresh air to rotate. Our bedroom window couldn't stay open which added to the room feeling hot and stuffy.

Very clean comfy single room. Great shower with soft towels. Nicely decorated. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with plenty of choice, needed to preorder but that wasn’t a problem.
The slight negatives was the radiator temperature knob was completely broken so it was incredibly hot. I opened the window which helped. Also the bed was an old style spring mattress… which I could feel however it didn’t stop me sleeping, was just slightly uncomfortable.

A cracking country inn at a great location with lovely walks on the doorstep. Nice bar with good beer and good food. It is a very dog-friendly place and our black lab enjoyed it as much as we did. Plenty four-legged company to be had.
I can’t think of anything that needs improving. A warning to tall people though - mind your head at the top of the stairs where a vicious door lintel connected with me a couple of times!

Loved how comfortable the beds were and the accommodation was small and friendly. I’m pleased that although it was busy they always found me a place to sit and eat as I was staying at the hotel.
I would have liked milk alternatives as I only drink oat milk. It would also be nice to have a guests only part of the restaurant to get away from the very busy and sometimes loud day visitors in the garden/main bar area. Dog friendly rooms are no different- would have liked to have dog bowls or beds provided.

Breakfast and evening meals were lovely staff very friendly and helpful especially as they were extremely busy.room really nice and very clean and bed very comfortable location fantastic and didn't use car when we were there.can highly recommend but was I thought quite expensive but very popular and was for special occasion.
Couldn't fault anything about stay apart from price which I thought was a bit expensive although is probably competitive price for area.

The room was lovely, comfy bed, everything that you need, clean and a large bathroom, free WiFi and lots of tourist info in the room. Pre ordering breakfast made service very quick the next morning and was a hearty breakfast with quality ingredients. The staff were friendly and helpful and my partner didn't have a thick coat with him and the owner Andrew told us to wrap up when going on the lake, when he found out about his coat he even loaned him one of his own! Above and beyond! We will definitely stay again and can't wait to go back to such a beautiful little town with everything a stones throw from the sun inn. Really cozy rooms in the pub with log fires too. Boat trip on the lake next day was lovely and is a walk around the corner to the harbour to jump on.
Nothing we loved it all.

Breakfast was generous and tasty. Helpful to be able to order the night before. The service was always friendly and very helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the radio speaker right next to my table. Quiet would have been nice. The room was clean and attractive with all I needed. Great shower!
It was a little noisy at times in my room being next to the bins and the car park but generally it was peaceful and comfortable. One of the bedroom windows wouldn't stay open which would be difficult in hot weather.
