Friendly staff, very clean, spacious, and excellent price. Located near a subway which made it very easy to travel into the city for work.

The only real downside was the location, which was a bit sketchy even during the day. I probably wouldn't stay here again if I knew I would have to be out late. Not a ton of amenities (no coffee in the room) but there's a Dunkin across the street and a CVS nearby.

The room was clean.

If you are looking for a place to sleep, this is fine. There are no amenities. There is not even a coffee pot in your room. The room is spacious for a NY hotel. Staff was great and friendly. There is a Dunkin Donuts across the street. If you want to stay at a place to go out at night... Do not stay here!! The Bronx on this side is dirty, full of homeless (I think that 75% of NY's homeless live here), people asking for money, urine smell and trash everywhere. So just to help those that are not familiar with the Bronx, I was told that the "other side" is very nice.

The location was very close to the subway lines that go into Manhattan. The neighborhood was vibrant with good food nearby. The room was cozy, but it had enough space for two checked bag sized suitcases and a carry on sized suitcase to be stored, and there was a nice patio on the 7th floor where we could eat breakfast outdoors. The room was very clean and housekeeping was every day. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was large and nice.

There was no kettle for coffee or tea, and the fridge had a strange layout so it was a little difficult to fit leftovers and breakfast supplies. The tv colors were a little bit off, but after changing the settings it got a little better.

Was clean and close to location

No one cake to clean or pick up dirty towels. I did not have a sign on the door and even asked the front desk if they clean daily, was told yes but didn’t happen.

The hotel is brand new and clean. Guests are well behaved and staff are approachable, responsive and helpful. The hotel is close to the number 2 and 5 trains. There is a large secure supermarket with a friendly owner across the road as well as a Dunkin and burger king. Avoid the delis and walking around at dusk.

No kettle in the room. I recommend the staff do a deep clean of the rooms to maintain the newness. This will keep the high standards. Regular cleans and dusting. Also some thicker blankets for the winter.

Our room was at the top level of the building and had a nice view. The floor was tile and hardwood, which feels much cleaner than carpet. The room was spacious and clean overall. It was good value for money, considering NYC prices. The staff was friendly. I appreciated having a fridge and a microwave. The hotel is conveniently located only 2-3 minutes walk from the subway station. The travel time to Manhattan is about 15-25 minutes, depending on the area.

I absolutely did not like the soap dispensers. They are squeeze bottles that are very difficult to use. I found it impossible to get any soap out of the bottle by the sink and had to use my own soap. The ones in the shower worked, but were uncomfortable. Would have given a 10 out of 10 score if there were traditional soap dispensers. The area around the hotel feels sketchy. There's lots of garbage on the streets. We were safe walking there during our stay though.

The bedding was a bit too thin.

The Melrose hotel is a small boutique hotel with very well thought-out room layouts. My room had excellent lighting, all bathroom fittings worked as intended and stocked with adequate towels and toilet rolls. The staff are friendly.

The environment doesn't appear in the booking.com but the location is a bit dicey. While there were no security cases while I was there, one needs to be alert. The air outside is laced with the smell of weed.

The hotel itself is amazing, clean, recently renovated and in great condition. The staff were always friendly, willing to help and very kind. One of the ladies in the front desk at one night shift was my lifesaver when at midnight I had a personal issue, she was truly understanding and so kind, really appreciate it!! Asked for extra blankets and they gave us a spare one.

The location can't be modified or changed, so if you're aware of the area/surroundings and you know how's the drill, so you'll know what to expect. This isn't the hotel to blame, they're amazing.

The hotel room was clean, comfy and equipped with all the necessary appliances (hairdryer, iron, air conditioning). There is an ice machine on 2nd floor free for use for all guests.

Overall just the location seems not to be safe, however I did not experience any inconvenience during my stay. It’s also close to the city centre with great subway connections.
