It is located across from the palace and walking distance from many interesting places. The staff was awesome. The person who checked me in spoke perfect English and was very helpful. There is a large flat screen tv, complementary champagne, coffee maker and mini fridge in the room. I would definitely recommend. On my last day they ordered me a taxi and carried my bags to the front door. The taxi got caught in traffic but the staff kept in communication with the driver and stayed with me until he arrived. I am very satisfied with the service.

There were a few stairs to get to the elevator. No problem for me but it could be hard on a person with mobility difficulties.

We liked that we had a nice view of the palace gardens from our French balcony. The location is quite touristy, but it is really convenient for a few days' stay. The room was quite spacious and included a small refrigerator, hot water kettle, and some tea and instant coffee. The staff were very kind and helpful, and they are the main reason why I rate this hotel so highly. For example, they wrote us in advance and gave excellent advice on how to get to the hotel. They also provided us with detailed insight on what to see, where to go, and what to consider avoiding. The front desk offered us breakfast coupons for Cafe Oriente (just downstairs from the hotel). It is a very sizeable and nice breakfast for 10 euros per person...valued at 16 euros on the menu.

The one glaring issue for us was that our non-smoking room reeked of stale cigarette smoke for our first two nights. We kept airing it out, and eventually, the odor subsided. Otherwise, we were very happy with the room and especially happy with the support of the hotel staff.

We stayed in this hostal in 3 separate occasions from October to November as we used Madrid as our base while we travelled to other locations in Spain. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff is very helpful, welcoming and accommodating most especially Jose and Alina who always gave us excellent and timely service and made us feel very much at home. The location of the hostal is very central, near the sights and good restaurants and we felt very safe there.

The taxis don’t normally want to stop inside the plaza. They normally let us get down at Calle Lepanto. But the walk is not too far going to the hostal. Sometimes the water from the shower was not hot enough. I stayed in this hostal on 3 separate occasions. On my last stay, I was placed in a big room. However, the wooden floor was creaking every time we walked on it so it was causing some noise.

What a great location very near the Opera Metro Station and literally around the corner from the Palace and the Cathedral. The staff was VERY NICE, helping us with everything including ordering a front-door taxi on the day we checked out. Also, they helped us figure out the best solution for our metro needs while transiting around the city. The room was very big and we had a balcony looking out on to the square and could see the Palace! And an EXTREMELY good value for the stay as well!

nothing...everything was great!

I loved everything!! The location was amazing, right across from the palace, where the King happened to be celebrating 10 years of rule so there were celebrations all day and evening. The royal family came out on the balcony to wave to the crowd, which we could basically see from our balcony! Amazing. The staff was over-the top welcoming and accommodating… they told us all the to-dos, fixed our metro cards, ordered our taxis and helped us down with our suitcases at 3:30 am, working overtime at night so that we would have a smoothe exit-trip. The rooms were so beautiful with old wood floors, aged wood beams in the ceiling, modern clean bathrooms and very comfortable beds. It is surrounded by beautiful grounds, palace gardens with beautiful statues and gardens. There were often live musicians- in the 2 days that were there we were privileged to violinist, opera and accordian music, and there is a beautiful, charming cafe/restaurant on the main floor with outside seating to take it all in. I did not see another place to stay that I would have traded for my experience at central palace! Thank you so much for making our short stay so memorable!

Not a thing!

A great location - very quiet. We had a room at the very top which was spacious - it had a separate sitting area and a roof terrace from which we had a fantastic view of the Royal Palace. Little extras like water and wine and a complementary breakfast for one morning were greatly appreciated.

Although there is a lift to access each floor, there is an additional flight of stairs to get to the room we had, and another to get up to the terrace. We had no problems but it’s worth pointing out for others.

The position of the hotel, just in front of the Palace, is perfect. Close to the metro station and the center. We did everything on foot, no need of transport. I would recommend our room 304, it did not have a view ( only an inside window) but it was better this way as we did not have the noise from the resto or the road ( very touristic) in front of the hotel. Also, away from the entrance and the lift, it was perfect, no disturbance during our stay. Thank you to the staff as well, very friendly and helpful !!

The view was amazing, Ellie on reception was a darling and very helpful. The setting is stunning and very close to Opera Metro 3 mins, and Sol metro ( 10 mins)

The directions / instructions needed more information. " Once you arrive outside the cafe Oriente, facing the cafe, the entrance is behind the large black door to the left. Press the door bell on the left to be given entry. Please take the lift to the first floor to book in at reception" . It was not clear exactly where the entrance was or which door bell to use as I only saw the panel on the right with 6 buttons and had to take my cases into the cafe to ask how to gain entrance into the hotel. Of all things the toilet paper was very cheap and poor quality.

This place is a rare find. We have stayed here before. Best location in Madrid -- your window looks out at the King's palace! The staff is super well informed and very helpful. It is in a very old building and each room is different but the ones we are familiar with are all good. Several of them are suites but they do not describe them as such so you may be pleasantly surprised to find out how spacious your room is. It is relatively small hotel without a lobby but who needs a lobby when you will probably be walking around enjoying this great city anyway.

The lovely lady at the desk gave us a free upgrade to a room with a view and showed us the best places to go around Madrid. The location was perfect and the room was by far the fanciest we’ve stayed in during our trip.
