The food at the cafeteria was good but breakfast could use a lot of improvement. I asked for eggs over medium and got fried eggs in a puddle of oil. I used three thick napkins to rid of the oil but it was not enough. The variety of foods was also limited. A place such as this parador can really do a better breakfast buffet.
Control amount of grease in your entrees. Offer more variety. Was sad to see that the upholstery in the cafeteria is not well maintained. It had lots of stains—something one would not expect in a facility such as this.

Excellent hotel, in a stunning building. The many public areas were very comfortable and well appointed. Hotel parking in a city centre was a real bonus. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space. Most of the staff were very pleasant and efficient.
Unusually for a 5 star hotel, not all reception staff spoke good English nor were very welcoming, some yes but not all. We had the offer of help with luggage on arrival but not departure (we could have asked I'm sure but we shouldn't have to). The room was well appointed but the heating/ aircon was noisy and generally unfathomable. There were no bathrobes and the towel hooks were on the opposite side of the 'bathroom' to the shower in the toilet. The dinner menu was not great and didn't change during our stay. Unusual for a hotel TV to only offer programmes in the local language, no CNN, BBC World, France 24, German news etc. There was no documentation about the hotel or local facilities in the room.

The hotel is very grand, with the reception, dining room and a comfortable seating area in the old monastery section and the bar, breakfast room and most bedrooms in the modern section. Our room had windows with views across the trees to the old Roman bridge. Our bathroom was spacious and modern. Dinner was very good indeed, with starched white table linen, suited waiting staff, a sommelier, excellent house wine, a complimentary amuse-bouche and delicious food. The breakfast buffet was extensive and there was a selection of hot food to order. Free parking was easy behind the hotel. It was only about 10 minutes walk to the pedestrianised old town.
There was a danger of trapping your fingers in the opaque glass doors in the bathroom. Otherwise all good.

Absolutely wonderful hotel in all respects. Recently renovated historic building with a beautiful facade and stunning ultra modern interior decor. One of the interior courtyards is transformed into a modern art gallery while side hallways display many original oil paintings and museum-grade historic artifacts. Similarly, the cloister displays fantastic sculptures and a photogenic garden. Attached to the hotel is an old church open to visitors from the hotel or from the square. Room decor is very modern but with tastefully selected traditional elements and high-quality artwork on the walls. All in all, an unforgettable treat to the eyes. State-of-the-art modern bathroom. Easy although not cheap open-air parking in the back of the building.
In a hotel where no detail was left to chance, there is a surprising lack of electric charging ports near beds. In order to plug in your device you have to unplug a bedside lamp or use an outlet on the wall across the room. As others have mentioned, the hotel is not exactly enteral to tourist attractions. A 20 minute walk is required to reach Plaza Mayor or the Leon Cathedral. Not a single foreign-language channel available on in-room TV.

After being on the Camino de Santiago for 3 weeks, this was a much needed weekend stop. It was luxurious from the moment of arrival until we departed. Javier at the front desk helped me with some issues surrounding my Camino and was just so helpful all around. Also the young lady that checked us in on Friday was fabulous and helpful as well. We loved the sophisticated bar because it’s very hard for us to eat as late as Spaniards and the bar had excellent tapas, sandwiches and food that filled our needs and was served early. A fabulous Parador that we hope to return to someday!.
Nothing.

We were hiking the Camino de Santiago (Camino Frances) and this is the best hotel we have stayed at so far. Some of the Parador hotels are a bit dated these days, but not this one. It was incredible - the hotel (both the exterior and interior) are amazing. The location is about a 15-20 min walk from the old town/cathedral. We paid Euros 260 per night for a Superior Double including breakfast - the room was fantastic, and we had a view at the front of the hotel. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The reception staff were nice but the restaurant & bar staff were not overly friendly.

The location and the room, and the staff in the restaurant. NOT the people staffing the reception desk, see below !.
I asked for a quiet room, weeks before our arrival. But the room was very noisy. I asked the reception to give me another room, but instead they proposed to talk to the people in the neighbouring room ! Stupid solution! We did not get another room, and they did not even ask later, or the next day, if we still suffered from noisy neighbours.

I was surprised by the stunning modern courtyard and the art galleries on each floor- I loved it! There were back areas that were more traditional. Breakfast was great. Hint: We could not figure out how to get our car to the front door to check in and drop the luggage because it is a huge pedestrian area in front of the Parador. After going around in circles a few times, my husband parked and I walked over and asked them to advise me. You turn right on the Ave of Peregrinos (one way) and then take your first left and drive in slowly in FRONT of the church and the Parador- drive right across the pedestrian area on the cobbles- it was crazy. Then they valeted our car.
There was a funky smell in parts of the Parador- they may want to look at their drains. It wasn't horrible, and not throughout the hotel, just not what you'd expect.

This is a gorgeous hotel, truly a five star experience. We stayed in a superior double-expensive but worth it. The room was spacious and comfortable with everything you could possibly think of. The building is simply amazing with cloisters, works of art and history all around. There was a free guided tour which was a must.
The only quibble was that the route from the car park to reception was not well signed and was difficult to negotiate with luggage

Good choice of quality foods. Beautifully developed old monastery. Superb riverside terrace and then formal restaurant. truly magical place. plenty of secure parking at the back however you need to drive onto the piazza in front of the Parador to check in. The most beautiful room in a tower ... #402. Definitely going back for more than one night next time - was a stopover on a drive down to Lisbon.
Difficult to fault any of it ...
