We don’t write reviews really, but we couldn’t not do so for Riad Embezeria Sehari: we had the best holiday in Marrakech, due, in no small part, to this great place and the people who run it. We arrived from the airport, through the organised (?) chaos of the streets of the Medina, to a nondescript door in a wall. Nabil came to greet us and through a short hallway, we were presented with a cool, calm riad courtyard, with a beautiful orange and lemon tree framed pool, soft music and a wonderful spa like fragrance permeating. Nabil welcomed us with mint tea and took our luggage, and after a time, presented us with (what became) an invaluable map and carefully explained the main sights and some dos and don’ts. Nabil was on hand throughout our time in Marrakech to answer any questions and offer advice, as was Youssef, who is a great source of knowledge on the history of Morocco. After our tea, we were shown to our room, with a huge bed, air conditioning and decorated thoughtfully with detail and precision: The interior design of the whole riad is exceptional and represents the best of both traditional and modern Moroccan aesthetics. We ate a meal prepared by Ilham who, throughout our trip, would make carefully prepared snacks to go with any drinks we ordered. He showed passion and care for his art. Breakfast each day around the pool and under the trees included coffee or mint tea and a combination of fresh fruit, date cake, yoghurt, jams, Atlas Mountain honey, bread and omelette or soufflé, all lovingly prepared by Omaima and served by Omar. It was a joy to come back here each day and throughout our time here, we were encouraged to treat the Riad as our home. Nothing was too much bother and all the staff showed true intent to make our holiday the very best it could be.

The staff are very friendly and breakfast are good.

You will not have enough hot water to take bath for two. Everyday one of us had to shower in cold water. The sink in the restroom drains very very slowly.

I had an extraordinary time at the Riad Emberiza Sahari. Situated within the Medina, once you step through its doors, you're welcomed into an aesthetically pleasing environment we Africans fondly refer to as "vintage old money vibes." Its traditional Moroccan ambiance is truly breathtaking, and the customer service is unparalleled. The Riad Emberiza Sahari offers a perfect blend of privacy and warmth, making you feel both safe and part of a loving family. Special kudos to Omar, a talented young staff member whose guitar skills are as remarkable as his friendliness and helpfulness. Ilham, the chef, prepares the most delicious meals I've had in Morocco. Whatever meal you want, Ilham will do it. Nabil, the supervisor, is also a fantastic person, always ready to assist with a smile. I highly recommend this Riad to any guest in Morocco who wants to experience a quality stay with love and genuine friendship during their stay. A fun fact: As informed by the supervisor, I am honored to be the first Nigerian to stay at the Riad Emberiza Sahari. I love it!

I loved everything.

From the moment I entered Riad Emberiza Sahari, I was made to feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home in this newly renovated, spotlessly clean, and super stylish "house". The staff couldn't have been more professional, caring, or attentive to any need. The entrance and ground floor has a feature central pool surrounded by sunloungers, and a few dining tables underneath verdant lemon and orange trees. There's a stunning high ceilinged dining area, decorated with traditional pottery and crafts, with comfortable seating and fireplace for chilly evenings. The bedrooms are situated on the floor above, and the stylish interiors continue, with use of traditional features in lighting, bathroom fittings and textiles. My bed was really comfortable, with crisp new linen. It was blissfully quiet, and I slept really well. Outside was a balcony area with seating. I loved the next floor - two roof terraces with far reaching views above the rooftops of the medina, and beyond to the Atlas Mountains. One terrace is furnished with tables and seating, the other with relaxed sofas under shade. It's the perfect spot for watching the sun rise and set, and I enjoyed starting my day there with yoga before breakfast. I had dinner on both evenings, and this was THE most delicious food I've ever tasted in Marrakech. I can highly recommend every dish prepared exquisitely by Ihlam. Her breakfasts too, were an incredible selection of dishes, including fresh fruits, juice, yoghurt /fruit, pancakes, pastries, eggs and bread. I felt so relaxed at Riad Emberiza and wish I could have stayed much longer. The location was perfect for visiting the Majorelle Gardens and Yves St Laurent's museum- just 20 minute's walk

Only one thing was a little unexpected - the shower - of local, traditional design, which was overly erratic with it's direction of spray, and rather too much went outside the shower area

We stayed in this riad in the heart of the medina for three nights before heading to an all inclusive five star resort. I really wanted to experience a taste of the culture before heading off to the resort. On arrival we realised what culture shock actually meant. We have only visited European, American, Australian or at least very well developed areas in the world until now. We arrived about 10:30pm. The narrow streets were very busy filled with people, mopeds (no helmets and whole families on some of them), donkeys and carts, beggars, open food stalls. The owner of the riad had organised the taxi and met us when the taxi had reached the destination. He walked us through the winding, terracotta streets and helped us with bags. I personally was a bit scared when we first arrived in that taxi. Entering the riad from the madness of the streets was the most bizarre thing. It was so peaceful and beautiful..like a fairytale. The breakfast each morning was perfect and you can ask for requests like having omelettes a certain way etc. The staff are very helpful and friendly and eager to help you.

We liked pretty much everything. My only gripe (if you can call it that) is If asking the riad staff for a taxi to a location don’t be afraid to question them or haggle it down. We got some high quotes that we felt were just taking advantage of us being tourists - just as taxis on the streets tried- they were no different. Just FYI there is no iron in the bedroom but if you ask they will iron clothes for you There is also no wardrobe (in our room anyway) just a rail which was fine for us considering our short stay. The Riad is right beside a mosque so you will be woken up early each morning by prayer and it will go on intermittently through the day.

I cannot recommend this riad highly enough. An absolute oasis of calm and slice of heaven. Not only is the riad extremely beautiful in the decor throughout, it’s very clean and has everything you need, it offers the most personalised and wonderful service. The team go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Ahmed the driver was so kind driving us wherever needed and whenever we needed, Nabil, Youness and Omar were faultless always there to help and the chefs in the kitchen cook the most fresh and delicious meals. Breakfast was always the most amazing delight and if you wanted lunch or dinner it was all prepared freshly for you. The medina of Marrakesh is total madness so to escape into the kindness of the team within this riad is just perfect. I will definitely be returning and I’d 100% recommend.

It’s a wonderful property. The best thing is the decor, especially the beautiful patio in the middle - it’s just like the pictures or maybe even better. They always played nice piano jazzy music in the patio which gives it a nice vibe. Beds are big and very comfortable. Also it’s very quiet inside the riad, which we loved. The staff was really great! Very nice and smiling all the time.

There was no locks on the doors. The staff assures that it’s safe and yet nothing happened - you never know and can never be sure with other tourists staying at the riad. We wished also there were curtains on the windows, especially in the bathroom, but also in the room if you’re a person who likes it pitch black at night. The location, even though it’s in the old Medina, it’s not a premium location. It’s far from main attractions and at night it seems sketch.

Staying at Riad Emberiza Sehari was undoubtedly the best part of our trip to Marrakech. Nabil welcomed us into the beautiful courtyard and pool area upon our arrival and we immediately felt at ease and relaxed tucked away from the bustling streets outside. We sat down for refreshments and were given some invaluable tips, walking routes and food recommendations; Nabil’s the annotated map he gave us became our trusted guide for the trip and helped us navigate around the sometimes confusing and chaotic streets. Nothing was ever too much for the kindest team of staff we have ever stayed with, they were incredibly helpful and we were genuinely sad to say goodbye on our last day to such kind people. Youssef and Omar were always on hand to give insight and suggest excursions and rooftops; we really enjoyed all of their recommendations. Like the rest of the riad, the room was beautifully and tastefully decorated with both a modern traditional Moroccan feel. It was the perfect place to come back to after exploring sights in the city, offering a calm oasis which felt like home. A special mention to the sweet kittens Biscuit and Cookie who were never far away and were another highlight of our stay. The location was ideal, only a 15 minute walk from some great food spots and the Souks, longer if you want to head further down to the main square. We ate a freshly prepared breakfast each morning by the pool which was delicious, and also stayed for lunch before we left, which was the best traditional food we ate over the whole trip. We had a truly unforgettable stay and could not recommend this place enough - will definitely be returning in the not so far future!

The location is simply unbeatable, just a short walk from the city center and conveniently close to the taxi area, making trips to the medina and night market a breeze. The sense of safety throughout our stay was reassuring, which is especially important when traveling with children. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and attended to our every need with genuine warmth and hospitality. Breakfast each morning was a highlight—the best I’ve ever had in Marrakech, with a delicious variety of fresh, local flavours that set the perfect tone for our days of exploration. The Riad itself is nothing short of magical. The beauty of the architecture, combined with the serene atmosphere, created a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. The rooftop was a particular favorite spot for us, offering stunning views and a tranquil space to relax. Every corner of the Riad was impeccably clean, and the attention to detail was evident throughout. Traveling with my 17 and 11-year-old, I was thrilled to see how much they enjoyed the Riad as well. They were enchanted by its charm and appreciated the calm environment after our busy days in the city.

Beyond perfect I don’t think there is anything negative to say.

This is perhaps the most positive review I have ever written, and I do it with tremendous joy. This Riad was not only charming, comfortable, well-stocked, and strategically located, but the staff made this an experience we will tressure for years to come. They got us taxis, when we needed them, fetched us everything we needed with promptness and a smile always on their faces, they pampered us with delicious meals, and overall, where just a joy to be around – one night one of them whipped out a guitar and serenaded us with beautiful music. My partner got sick the last day and when I tell you they waited on us hand and foot, that is an understatement. They made him special food, including a heaven-sent chicken soup, and brought us everything we needed to the room. Accommodation The beds were comfortable, the AC was cold, the rooms large and well-lit, the bathrooms well-stocked, and despite the sort of old-school feel of buildings like these, everything was extremely clean. The pool in the center patio of the Riad was like the most inviting Oasis after a day out and about in 100 F heat. They have scented candles all over and the lemon and orange trees in the patio make the whole thing even more heavenly. Food The breakfast is plenty and delicious, including multiple courses, coffee and juice. We had dinner and lunch as well, but that is not included in the room rate. The desserts were to die for. When my partner was sick, they made him off-menu (very off-menu) dishes, that were just as delicious as everything else. The cook was so wonderful I gave her the biggest hug when I left. Location We were travelling with older, less mobile folks, so walking to and from the Riad (especially in the high temperatures of August) was not really something we did, though I know it was completely doable, especially to some of the best areas of the Medina (Jemma el Fna, Madersa Ben Youssef).

Everything was incredible.
