For us the location was perfect! Kids loved the pool and playing at the pingpong table. Quiet, very nice view over the ocean. Dolphin watching by our own. No other boats around us. And staff is very very friendly. In the restaurant they make delicious food, cocktails and breakfast. But if you like to be in a more crowded surrounding, like Lovina, this is not the place to be. Nice and friendly local people/ fisherman’s also on the beach to chat with. We loved our stay here.

WiFi is not that good. And the beach is very dirty. A lot of plastic on the beach and in the ocean.

Absolutely perfect! Nothing to complain about, the Villa is all very well, the pool facing the sea very pleasant. The staff was exceptional. Access to the beach is direct, no walking or detours. The hotel restaurant and its cocktails are great for both local and Western dishes. Absolutely perfect 10/10 without hesitation, I'll be back as soon as possible! Yes, the hotel isn't in the city, but for relaxation, enjoyment and peace and quiet, it's exceptional!

I wish I could have stayed longer! Apart from a problem of understanding on arrival which was sorted out in a few minutes, nothing to complain about. Reactive and exceptional staff.

Beautiful rooms on a great location. We had both a studio and a family suite. The family suite can take 5 and is HUGE! If we had known we only needed that. The view is amazing and the on site restaurant is good too. If you want to eat somewhere else there is a great restaurant for locals and one for tourists just down the beach. The one for locals has live music a few nights a week

You need a car to get anywhere and as itbis Indonesia: there is a lot of plastic on the beach. And a small thing the Rain shower in both rooms need replacement.

We absolutely loved our stay at the resort. The Villa was so perfect with the beautiful décor, well maintained garden and pool and the ocean view. There is nothing nicer than listening to the sound of the sea. The staff were so friendly and a helpful and nothing was ever too much. If we needed anything organised it was done staff were happy to help, from tours, to trips to organisisng my birthday celebrations. My husband and i had the most relaxing holiday. I would highly recommend a stay here and I would absolutely recommend the privacy of the villa

It’s very quiet and serene. The beach is just steps away from the resort! Great place for silent retreat! No distractions! I would also like to commend the Staff at Mayo! From the front office; to the housekeeping; gardeners are so polite and friendly! You just feel so welcome in their resort! The restaurant staff - Lina; Putu and the team are great! They always greet you cheerfully and serve you with smile despite being short handed in the restaurant! Great team! Thank you for your service! I will be back again if time permit!

Very quiet location directly at the beach. The sand is black and not completely clean but it was very calm water and if you go deeper there are some corals and fish (the hotel gives snorkeling equipment but you may not find the right size - water shoes are required!). There is a swimming pool, nice and clean. Very large rooms, with nice furniture, it looks like most of them have a sea view. Restaurant on site and at least one decent warung in a walking distance. For more you need to get a scooter or a car (the hotel can arrange the taxi). There is enough variety for breakfast and some western and local dishes for lunch/dinner. The quality is good although the service is a bit slow. In general everything looks well but here and there there are signs of damage by time and water. It didn't bother us. It is a good place if you want to relax by not doing anything special. The most noice you can hear at night is from geckoes.

The location is remote. There is not much you can see in the walking distance.

Gem of a resort. 1. Exceptional staff. Every one of them. 2. Excellent property with great views 3. Superb F&B. No question of Bali belly ! 4. Absolute peace and quiet.

Nothing that we did not like. However, to give everyone a heads up : 1. North Bali is not a party area. Very quiet in general. 2. The resort is a 30 min walk from the road through a jungle. So don't expect to walk around outside the resort. You will require transport from the resort to go anywhere. 3. Limited shopping options.

Spacious, clean room with balcony overlooking the pool and sea. Lovely garden with areas of grass to sit out, sun bathe, etc. Lovely setting right by the beach; likewise the restaurant is overlooking the beach. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. We had really excellent food at the restaurant. One of the waiters had an exceptional knowlege of the cooking amongst other things! One night we had a very long wait for our dinner (our experience in Bali is that a wait of 45 minutes is common; our wait one evening was more than double). The staff managed our (polite) frustration very gracefully and the manager/owner apologised the next morning, explaining that since they book guests from outside the hotel as well as for residents, there can be unexpected levels of demand. He promised they would learn from the difficlties we faced. I would stay again definitely. They arranged for a snorkelling trip for us to Deer (Menjangan ) Island which was fantastic - professional run and really enjoyable (beautiful coral, clean water, fantastic fish and turtles, great views of Java's volcanoes, good lunch!). Just to the west is a nice bay where fishing families stay (and fish) - fantastic for a stroll into the sunset (and more views of Java's volcanoes). Thank you for a great stay.

Out of control of the Mayo Resort, the clealiness of the beach immediately by the hotel - as below.

Amazing location right on the beach (in 'real Bali), super helpful & friendly staff, amazing food. Hotel is not too big but has enough facilities and ensures that special attention is given to all guests. You can spend entire day chilling by the pool with a drink, looking at the sea (rooms also have amazing sea view) , getting a massage or go on trips nearby (definitely recommend to go and Swim with Dolphins at the Lovina Beach). The best feature of this place is the most beautiful sunset that you've ever seen! I'm definitely coming back!

The only thing I would recommend is to renew doors and windows for a better isolation but it still doesn't affect the entire experience.

Mayo is a glorious resort in north Bali with black sand beach and a gorgeous pool. The restaurant overlooks the sea and has the most brilliant sunsets I've ever witnessed. The rooms are huge with high ceilings and stone flooring. The beds are very comfortable. The staff is very kind, attentive and accommodating. There's a row boat you can take out, and free snorkel gear rental (sans snorkel 🤿) mask/Fins only. Unlimited free Le Mineral drinking water and a nice sized fridge.

The pool needs some TLC. The water is clean and clear but has a mint color to it. They assured me the pool will soon be drained and scrubbed and refilled. 👌
