This place was AMAZING. I very nearly have nothing negative to say about this property. We paid a good price for a garden view room that had an open air onsen ensuite that was beyond our expectations. I wish I took more photos of the room itself but we were pleasantly surprised at how large the room was. It had beautiful tatami floors, two full sized beds that were the most comfortable beds we laid in. They had two TVs in the room that also had services like youtube, netflix, amazon prime & so many more (you do have to use your own subscription and login to access these services). The onsen was always hot and ready to use. The shower was easy to use and had different shower heads available for use. They had different options for Yukatas that we could wear after we bathed and the dinner services were large and delicious. Some of the food options were adventurous for a westerner but they were all well-made. Just make sure to reserve the dinner service at least 2 days in advance with the property. We also enjoyed a Kaiseki breakfast that was large but not too hearty so it was easy to eat and not feel too burdened by the amount throughout the day. There are grocery stores nearby that you can buy extra foods from and if you bring the items you want re-heated to the front desk they would be happy to re-heat it for you. They had staff that spoke English but even if they were unavailable the Japanese staff did their best with google translate. I would absolutely come to this Ryokan again the next time we stay in Toi.

This is a Japanese style hotel, and all facilities are bit old, no elevator as well, but this hotel looks very nice, especially their beautiful garden area. All staffs are very friendly, and their hot tub is pretty awesome too. It can let me totally relaxed and enjoyed. The location is far from the center of Izu, but you can still walk around the park, the ocean and the restaurant too. I like this area because of their quiet, beautiful and original too.

Please show us an information on booking.com if we need to book a breakfast with hotel package.

It's my first time commenting on my experience with booking. That was an amazing experience. We had been arranged on the top floor with an amazing view of the sea when we arrived, we just saw the beautiful sunset, and we were treated as VIP. The employees were so nice in introducing everything to us. The serve-in dining is a MUST-TRY option, although it's not cheap, the food is really good and luxurious. We can keep the privacy by having our dining in the room. We chose both the dinner on the arrival date and the breakfast on the following day, please trust me, it will impress you. The room fee includes a one-time Spring privacy reservation, you will have 45 minutes to enjoy the Japanese traditional style Spiring, but of course, you can still enjoy the spring in your room, too.

Everything is quite perfect.

Glad I read reviews after booking as they made me worried but it was actually a great place. It's an old school Japansese ryokan, yes it could do with some renovations but it wasn't smelly or dirty and I found the setup pleasant and enjoyable. We had the room with a spa on the patio which was amazing, food was really good though it is very Japanese so can be a bit much for those not used to it. Staff were very friendly and warm we really appreciated the service and kindness. Multiple onsens both private and public, nice outdoor rock baths very relaxing and quiet. In short if you like a classic, warm and comfy Japanese style ryokan then don't hesitate to book it's a lovely place.

Very little just that some areas could do with updating.

The hotel grounds were excellent. We never left the compound for two days while we relaxed on our private deck with our own onsen and garden. The room was spacious and traditional. The kaiseki set menu food was awesome. There was an English speaking staff assigned to attend us and she did an excellent job, as did her colleagues, of making us welcome. Even though we were reluctant to leave our sanctuary we did reserve time in a private onsen facing the forest and really enjoyed it. Lovely time out in the gardens enjoying the sunshine in our yukata. Best hotel experience on our trip.

The meals being served was exceptional traditional Japanese cuisine with local fresh seafood. The location is in West Izu where many scenic coastlines like Dogashima Cave cruising, Lover Cape, Koganezaki Park for Sunset etc. We have really great experiences with this stay. The hot spring was amazing! The staffs also made us feel like home.

The hotel can do some carpet renew or painting work to keep the property in newness.

We were more than pleasantly surprised by this stay. The hotel is very traditional and surrounded by beautiful nature. You can easily walk to the beach and enjoy the great views of the mountains and the forest. At night you can even hear the sounds of the forest. The staff is exceptionally nice and will go out of their way to help you. We felt very welcomed and got help anytime we needed it. Our room also had the most stunning view of the ocean. The room was also very spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. We reserved breakfast and dinner and it was a great experience! Just keep in mind that the meals are very traditional japanese. The Onsen experience was also very relaxing. The public baths are great and you can also reserve a private Onsen once a day. We would love to stay again!!!

The insects are a bit scary but that's normal if you stay in nature. :)

The place takes you on a time travel trip. We received a family room with ocean view and a living room which was soooo nice and cute and romantic. Futons were comfy. Used public onsen which was great as well as rented out a private onsen which was also great. Loved the whole experience. We had a car, so even though the beach in this town was not best , we did not mind driving around. Parking was free

I was unpleasantly surprised about "onsen fee" which we were not warned about upfront and was not described in the property describtion. Also, some cosmetic repairs could lift up the property to a better level.

This was great. We had a nice room, the public and private bath was nice. Everything was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The tried very hard to help us and we could only speak Japanese with the Translate app. It worked out very well.

When we booked the place, we couldn't select to add the breakfast and dinner options. That's not a fault of the hotel though but I wish this would've been possible. We tried to work something out with the staff and after an initial "Yes we can" they got back to us with "Sorry we can't".

The view from the room was beautiful and the room itself is very spacious. The ofuro was also very clean and quiet. There is also a bath tub in the room as well. Plenty of parking spots right outside the property.

It does feel a bit dusty as it is an old ryokan - it did trigger my hayfever/allergies. We were also hoping to book the ofuro in the advertised photo, unfortunately it was closed / under maintenance.
