Nice, new hotel, in a central location. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable beds.

There is no closet or wardrobe, just a tiny bar to hang some clothes. The bathroom space is poorly designed. In fact, there are two separate small cabins for shower and toilet, and the sink is basically in the room. It's ok for a solo traveler, but for a couple, it is quite awkward. You must undress in the room, otherwise, you will get your clothes wet inside the shower cabin. Then, when you go out, you can't use a towel on the floor, as it blocks the shower door. And if you want to use the toilet in the night, the light and the noise will disturb your partner.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was extremely clean, one of the cleanest 4 star hotel rooms I have ever seen. And one of the quietest as well. The staff is nice. Quick and easy check-in, even quicker and easier check-out.

I was traveling alone so the room was perfect. But if you traveling with someone (especially someone who you’re not particularly close with) it could be somewhat “uncomfortable” because the toilette is separated from the rest of the room with stained glass door, it basically means you have only a visual isolation. 😄

The room was very clean. Including in the shower and in the toilet. During the three days of my stay, I did not invite cleaning even once. I liked the opportunity to open the window in winter to ventilate the room. This is important to me because I can't sleep if the window in the room is closed. There is also a wonderful opportunity to raise and lower the air temperature in the room. When we arrived, it was very hot. I lowered the temperature to a comfortable 21 degrees. There was a very nice girl at the reception on the day of our departure on December 23rd. She smiled and chatted sweetly, helped us with our luggage. A wonderful stuff member of the hotel.

There is a shelf and a safe above the place, where your suitcase or your travel bag stands. You bend over your suitcase and inevitably hit your head on the wooden corner when you lift your head. It's very uncomfortable and painful. They didn't have any slippers during my stay. I can't imagine living in a hotel, using a shower and not having slippers. Barefoot or something? In the morning, I called the restaurant to order a club sandwich and coffee. They told me that they couldn't fulfill my order because they only delivered breakfast in the morning. €18 per person, by the way. And €35 per night for parking is a way too much, I guess.

Good place. It's nice to be able to leave things before check-in. A good shower. Large beds.

Registration is complicated and takes a long time. I had to pay the city tax a second time, even though it was included in the price and already paid.

The hotel was in a convenient location to the old city, restaurants, etc (3-5 mins walk). The staff were very helpful. Beds were very comfortable. The original room we booked was too small - the oversized bed took up most of it and because there wasn't enough room for us to spread out and for us to store our bikes in the room - we paid for an upgrade to a room with a large terrace which was really nice and spacious. Breakfast was very good.

The original standard room with a cathedral view (careful as this is partial) was too small to accommodate our two suitcases. Also the hotel would not let us take our bikes into the room. This was very inconvenient as we had rented bikes that we needed to keep safe. All in all we ended up upgrading to a Junior Suite so that we had enough room for our two medium suitcases and could put our bikes on the very large terrace (although this was not officially allowed). This isn't very good because Slovenia is fast becoming a destination for cyclists based on the fact that there are several professional cyclists that are Slovenian including one that won the Tour de France this year. So hotels need to think about how they can accommodate bikes.

This is an amazing hotel. We had the deluxe room with castle view. The room was huge, modern and had everything you could possibly want. We had a small balcony with chairs and a table. We really appreciated the coffee machine and the steamer. Breakfast was varied, delicious and not at all over crowded. The location is perfect; you are a few minutes walk to the centre. The staff were all very polite and courteous. I would stay there again!

The parking is very expensive at 39 euros a day. However, the car park is really secure and the lift goes from your room down to the car park, which is convenient.

Everything is squeaky-clean and new - even the bright and spotless underground parking garage. A convenient thing about this hotel is that reaching it by car from the main highway is quick and you can drive right into the garage and take the elevator up to reception. You are only minutes away from all the hot-spots along the river but shielded from the noise by the Congress Square with its beautiful plane (sycamore) trees. Our double room was spacious, with high ceilings and large windows. Design details - like the little cat etched into the glass wall of the WC - are charming. Staff was efficient, friendly, and impressively multilingual.

Why do so many hotels, including Occidental, have fancy shower fixtures that you can't operate when your hands are soapy???? The spacious shower had two different fixtures (great!) but a button to start/stop water that could not be activated when slippery (not so great). Who designs these things? More simple levers, please!

The location is very central, just a few minutes walk down to the river. We had views over the central square. It's on a bus route from the station, which takes about 15 minutes. The room was well-furnished and the bed was comfortable.

The bathroom layout was as it appeared in the website photos, so we knew what to expect. But we would avoid this layout in future. The washbasin area looks into the bedroom. The shower and toilet are concealed by doors. The toilet light is automatic so you can't avoid it shining into the bedroom if you use it at night. We benefited from a pay in advance room rate. When we arrived at the hotel they confirmed we had prepaid. However, they still took a second full payment when we left! In fairness, as soon as this was identified on our credit card statement and notified to them, they arranged an immediate repayment.

Hotel had a plumbing problem with the rooms I booked. They tried ringing me but messaged me to tell me this while I was at the airport. They had booked us two rooms at The Sheraton instead for one night and then upgraded us to two deluxe rooms for the other two nights back at the Occidental. They also paid for taxis between the two hotels and provided us with luggage storage twice before we were able to check in properly. They then sent champagne and a plate of fruit to each of the two rooms immediately after we'd checked in. Not sure if breakfast was included in our original three night stay, but they provided that free of charge at both hotels. All the reception staff we dealt with couldn't have been more apologetic or helpful. The hotel is situated a short walk from the centre of Ljubliana and I would definitely recommend it. All four of us loved our stay and were made to feel extremely welcomed. We would go back there.

There was nothing for us to dislike during our stay

The hotel is very well located and easy to reach. The staff was very welcoming specially when we requested to stay an extra night. Everyone in this city seems to speak English and sometimes even Italian. The city center is very clean and beautiful. It is a very lively city, full of young people, lots of bars and restaurants with different types of food. We had a great stay.

There is nothing we didn't like. The parking price is not included, but is nevertheless a good solution to keep the car parked during our stay.
