Judith was exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing recommendations on where to eat and information on how to best navigate Seoraksan National Park. She also helped us with reserving bus tickets to Busan. It was a pleasure speaking with her and staying at her property. The location is very convenient with the fish market, local bus, and many restaurants close by. The Intercity Bus Terminal was only minutes away on foot. The rooms and common area were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the provided breakfast consisted of toast, cereal, and eggs with coffee, orange juice, and milk.

This is one of those hostel stays that you dream about - friendly and helpful host (Judith), good vibes from fellow travelers, comfortable facility, fun things to do all about, and nice breakfast to boot. Judith was seemingly available around the clock and extremely helpful. We spoke English and a bit of Korean with her, but as I understand she also speaks Chinese and Indonesian! She is a genuine and wonderful person. One thing I would ask of fellow travelers is not to take advantage of this level of hospitality. Just because she will help you late through the night doesn't mean you should just rely on her to be your tour guide. Please do your own research and homework. But if you ever need help, you'll be at a right place.

Very good breakfast by hostel standards, which includes toast, boiled eggs, coffee, etc. The owner is a really nice, friendly, and kind lady. It was a pleasure speaking with her and staying at her property. Very clean, with a spacious and relaxed common area. Spacious lockers. Owner gives great recommendations for places to see, hike, eat, etc, including how to get there. Location is walking distance from Sokcho intercity bus terminal, and close to some nice sights along the water area (the bridge, etc).

The location of this guest house is very convenient. It is just a few steps away from Sokcho tourist fishery market and Gaetbae, and it is easy to hop on a bus to Seoraksan (about 25 minutes). We stayed in a twin room with private bathroom. The room is small but cozy and equipped with all the amenities a traveler would need. The amenities are simple but enough for a comfortable stay. The room is quiet at night as there are two layers of window panes to dampen outdoor noises. Breakfast is simple but filling. The host, Judith, is kind and friendly, she offered to buy us bus tickets before our arrival and even took the trouble to prepare us a breakfast pack on the day when we left at dawn for a long hike in Seoraksan. She is definitely the gem of this guest house.

Room is a bit small. Sockets on walls are installed far from the ground and are right beside the beds, there is no bedside table/closet to put your electronic devices when charging them. If your charging cable is short, your device will have to dangle in the middle of the air while charging. We have to unplug the TV cable from the extension cord on the floor to charge our devices with short charging cables.

The location was amazing, as it is a 10-15 minute bus ride from the bus terminal. Not only that, but the busses nearby would easily and quickly take you to Seoraksan, Sokcho beach and many other places. Juliet, the owner and manager, was incredibly friendly, and gave so, so much information about the area and things to do. The Sokcho seafood market and many brilliant restaurants are right around the corner from the guesthouse. It was super clean, the beds were comfy, and all in all, I would highly recommend Sokcho & Guesthouse.

The view from the room was not what I expected. I would double check when making the booking if it is a sea/harbour side view. But that’s alright as I was hardly in the room. I guess I also don’t like bright, white lights, and the room had those. But that’s a personal preference as well, and some people probably won’t mind. That’s all :)

The host was understanding. We were able to talk to the host to check in around 1:00 AM. So, we really woke her up in the middle of the night to register our vehicle and collect the parking fee. Check in was up to 11 pm. The big rooms have the necessary toiletries to bathe: shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We found a hairdryer too. No issue with bugs or dirty linens. The host cooked some boiled eggs for guests by request and American breakfast style was served in the home style dining room like cereal, toast with butter and jam. No meat or fancy breakfast.

Parking was not free. It’s W5,000 to park your vehicle in the vacant lot which was a walking distance from the guesthouse. Bring your own toiletries like toothbrush, mouthwash, dental floss, comb, etc. There were hand towels but not bath towels. The shower was inside the toilet so if there were a group of you who wants to use the restroom, you have to wait to sit on it, if someone was showering or vice versa. The location was okay, you just need to look for the sign that says “Sokcho Guesthouse” since it was in the main road of business establishments. You toast your own bread, put away the dishes, and wash them after you eat.

Judith's hospitality, friendly approach, attitude and that personal touch by striking a good conversation with her guests mostly during morning bfasts and also during the day was very refreshing. We were pleasantly surprised with the place setup, from check-in, check-out and during the stay Judith ensured that we stayed comfortably and provided all support and information when needed. The place is centrally located at the market & shopping street, bfast is simple, rooms & the entire facility is clean and well maintained. Lots of stories exchanged with Judith, we will not hesitate to recommend this place to our family and friends. Apart form enjoying our stay in Sokcho, Judith ensured that we had a pleasant and relaxing stay at her facility. Thank you Judith, wish you all the best!

We had a great experience at this guesthouse! The room was big and clean and the common room was very cosy. But the real asset of this guesthouse is Judith, the host, who prepares a basic but nice breakfast every morning and is prepared to answer all of your questions about Korea, Sockcho and Seoraksan! We didn't encounter a lot of English speaking Koreans, so it was really great to be able to have some interesting conversations with Judith. I would definitely recommend Sokcho and Seoraksan National Park and a stay at this guesthouse. Thanks, Judith :)

Judith is an extraordinary lovely woman who always try to help you where she can. The rooms and the environment where you take your breakfast is very cosy. There are two computers, all the informations about the serounding. Café, thé, water you can have the hole day. If you leaf an message she answer very fast. If you need something you just ask. She explain very clear about the locale transport and where the activities is. There is an washing machine and dryer. For us four days is to short. But we will come back, that's for sure!

Everything was fine!

Everything. This was the first time I have stayed in a hostel/guest house in a number of years, so I was a bit apprehensive with hostels (been in some subpar ones). I'm writing this after returning home, so I can compare all of the places we've stayed in. Staying here made every other hostel on this trip seem a bit disappointing. What stood out the most was how friendly and helpful Judith was. She went above and beyond for us, and it is easy to see that she puts her heart and soul in to running this place. Everything is clean and organised, and she is very readily available to assist. We had an unconventional travel plan (Sokcho-Samcheok-Andong-Donghae), and she went out of her way to look up the train/bus times when she really didn't have to. She spent time chatting with us and getting to know her guests. There are lots of recommendations and travel assistance posted on the walls. There are magnets and letters and photos all over, and it makes the lounge/kitchen area that much more inviting. Breakfast consisted of toast and cereal. Machine coffee, orange juice, and milk available. There might have been tea, but I'm a coffee drinker. I don't know what the beds were made of, but they were the best sleeps I and my partner have had in a long time. It wasn't noisy even being in the room closest to the shared area, all guests were also very respectful so there was also not much noise at night. Split system is available in the rooms for the hot/cold nights. The room that we stayed in had a big enough bathroom so that the toilet didn't get wet after a shower. The bedroom was also of an ample size so we could unpack and reorganise our bags. We had two large backpacks and two small day packs. I would venture to guess it would also be enough space for a few suitcases (room had double bed, bunk bed). The room and kitchen/lounge were the same as what was on the Booking.com website. I can 110% recommend this accommodation.
