As soon as we stepped in to reception we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. After checking in we were given a tour of the hotel, which is beautifully decorated and includes delightful courtyard gardens which looked lovely, even in February, with oranges in flower and fruit and plenty of greenery. Our room was extremely well appointed, with a large en suite bathroom and shower; there was a coffee machine and a delicious welcome snack was left for us every day. The breakfast was superb with an extensive buffet as well as hot food on request, with staff only too happy to help. There are spa facilities (- I didn't use them, so cannot comment) but the Roman style baths - hot and cold plunge pools and warm swimming pool - are available to all guests and were a delight. Best of all the hotel is built on the site of a first century AD Roman villa whose mosaics and pillars are visible through the glass floor in the dining room: we were also given a tour by a helpful member of staff, who took obvious pride in the hotel's historic connections. If we return to Cordoba - which I hope we shall - we would certainly stay here again.

Nothing.

On arrival we were told we got a larger room within our category due to 5 night stay. The room was beautiful, quiet, and even had a small patio. Loved a huge comfortable bed. With shutters shut I couldn't tell the time in the morning and slept way longer than intended. There are two stunning courtyards and a beautiful Mudejar lounge. The quality of food and drinks was exceptional. So was the service - friendly, professional, with a smile. The only shock was the price - it is a fraction of what you would pay for equivalent accommodation in France or Italy.

Beautiful historic Palacio with incredible features such as a Roman villa beneath it, stunning gardens, inner courtyards, lovely pool and baths. Great location, quiet but very conveniently located for all the major attractions. Near to restaurants, shops and bars. The hotel’s own restaurant was excellent providing fantastic breakfasts and outstanding dinner. Staff were wonderfully warm and helpful.

The dining tables in the main area were dated (a bit Ikeaish) and not befitting of this elegant property, similarly the bedrooms were a little dated and generic, and in one we originally offered the paint was peeling. Also room service would turn down your bed but leave dirty coffee cups and wet towels on bed (not normal practice) The property is fabulous it just needs a little love in places to make it truly outstanding.

Far best Hotel on our hotel stay (wished we stayed longer) - Excellent hotel in a fantastic location to old part of town and places to visit. The staff really made this hotel stay a great time- very welcoming and so Friendly & Helpful. Hotel was so good and very peaceful and lovely outdoor pool (sun was out)! Breakfast excellent and great location for Roman ruins - food very good selection. Very quite rooms - we had a great location in terms of room to court yard and was a very comfortable room. Would really consider staying again!

Would of loved an upgrade in room (as its was our 25th wedding anniversary)!

It was a beautiful setting with wonderful historic architecture and a lovely garden. Comfortable room. Very good location to drive to and easy walk into the centre. It was a uniques experience to be sitting above the Roman ruins whilst eating breakfast. The staff who were meeting and greeting, carrying cases and getting cars were first class, efficient and friendly. Couldn’t do enough for you.

Our room faced the front of the property and it was very noisy. The rubbish collection point was down the road but the truck came very early and was noisy. The traffic noise was also bothersome. One member of the reception staff was not good at providing a service. She completely ignored us when we first arrived, just kept tapping away on her keyboard, not even acknowledging us with a greeting or apology while she finished what she was doing. Fortunately a colleague came and dealt with our arrival. She was in a similar position when we checked out and was once again, ignoring people. In contrast, all the other staff we encounter were very friendly and provided excellent service.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout. The hotel has a lovely sense of calm as soon as you enter the gate. The inner courtyard and pool area is beautiful although we didn’t really have the weather to make the most of them. The Roman baths provide a great way to relax after a day’s sightseeing and the Roman ruins visible under the dining room were also intriguing.

We opted not to have the breakfast at a cost of 25e per person per day, although I’m sure it was lovely. And I would have preferred a proper stand alone shower rather than one over the bath. But neither of these things spoilt the overall stay.

The garden and the pool were lovely. The service was good in all areas, though sometimes a bit slower at breakfast. There was a good selection of food at breakfast and the quality of the food when we ate there twice in the evening was very good. The location was pretty good too, with about a 7-10 minute walk into the centre of town. It felt safe to walk around the area surrounding the hotel and into town. We didn't hear any noise whatsoever from surrounding rooms, which was great.

The air conditioning and safe stopped working on our first night but to be fair to the hotel, they quickly changed us to another room and as it happened a much nicer bathroom, so we were happy, as well as refunding us part of that night's stay for the inconvenience, all without us asking, so full marks there.

Very attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely room and comfortable bed. Our room had a separate shower and bath. The dining room is a bit special as it has a glass floor to allow you to see the Roman ruins which have been excavated underneath.

The spa could only accomodate 6 guests because of its size and whilst it used some of the original underground area was a dissapointment. A cold plunge, a luke warm main area and a shallow hot tub for two. Not in keeping with the rest of the hotel and grounds. More of a novelty than a spa.

It’s a unique hotel built on an antique Roman villa site that you can see through a glass floor in the restaurant. It’s absolutely stunning for someone who appreciates history. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and decorated. Our room was very comfortable and cozy. The location is quiet but central which is perfect.

The staff is very professional and welcoming. The only suggestion I have is to have someone in the bar area, at least checking in on clients from time to time. We had a hard time getting attention there.
