This hostel was an excellent choice for me on my ruta de los volcanes hike - just a 6 km easy decent from the trail. The hostel is situated in old historic building and has chill vibes and good charm. The facilities are a bit worn out but everything functions well. There is a big kitchen, free coffee and tea, which is always a nice touch and one less thing to worry about.
My two floor dorm bed was a bit loud and wobbly. It took some time to get used to it, but after that I slept ok.

I've been to almost all the hostels on the island and this is BY FAR the one I enjoyed most. Largely thanks to the colorful, diverse and friendly bunch that it succeeds at attracting, and to the fantastic work of a team of volunteers (Mel, Santiago, Paulina, Sofia and Stella) who will go out of their way to make you feel immediately at home and take care of the premises and guests in a very professional way. The kitchen is well equipped and the design of the common areas encourages mingling among guests. The rooftop terrace is amazing! And so is the location, right at the center of the island, next to an extremely well-stocked supermarket, close to the bus stop and at walking distance from several trailheads heading into the national park.
The building is an old-fashioned traditional house which has its charm, however the hostel could use some renovation to further improve guests' experience. Some minor observations: squeaky floor (tried my best not to wake others up when coming in late at night or walking out early in the morning, yet every step was like an announcement hehe), and the doors of the dorm I stayed in wouldn't close properly (that would also help with heating efficiency so probably an investment worth making). The bunk beds are also a bit noisy and unstable to climb on. 2 of the 3 bathrooms available are reeeeeally small but they do the job. Areas for improvement for an already great hostel! Keep up the good work!

Very nice old building with great views from the rooftop terrace. Individual bohemian kind of style, I personally liked it a lot, you don't find that very often. The location is very good in the old centre. Cleanliness in the bedroom and bathrooms was good (did not use the kitchen).
The beds are simply not suitable for a hostel, not uncomfortable in any way but the amount of noise they make even at the slightest movement is crazy and a lot of noise is really what you want to avoid in a dorm room. Some sturdy wooden bunk beds would be the solution.

Fantastic and super friendly staff. Paulina made my day, she really needs a rise 😊We watched footie together and it was a blast. Excellent location, a few steps away from the bus stop. Comfy bed. Spacious showers. Free coffee. Most of all, flexibility. I could leave my stuff and go on the Volcano Trail just with water and snacks, only to pick up my belongings on return. Everyone I talked to there seemed friendly and chilled.

I received a warm welcome from the hostel volunteers and Fran who is the owner 🥰 I quickly felt integrated and it was as if we were a big family! We shared evenings on the terrace (which is a real plus), laughing and singing with the guitar. All the staff were respectful, caring and willing to help! It was cleaned every day, the bed was comfortable, the washing machine was available and the hostel was super equipped 🤩 Again a huge thank you because if my holidays were so successful it is thanks to you ❤️
Sometimes people forget that it's a hostel and therefore don't respect the few rules that there are (do the dishes when you have used them or try not to make noise in the morning in the dormitory). In the end, the only negative point is not even about the hostel but about the users 😅

You have everything you need. Nice kitchen where you can find everything. Amazing people. 3 bathrooms. Really nice roof terrace. You can also use the washing machine for 4 euros extra. Really close to big supermarket
A lot of people in one room. The ones on the bottom bunkbeds had curtains, but not the ones on the top.

I initially booked 4 nights but ended up staying 9. Really good vibes in the hostel and met a lot of good people here. The kitchen in this hostel is a great place to meet other travellers and to share food if that is your thing. The terrace is spacious and very nice too. The voluntiers were both, cheerful and helpful and I felt right at home here. I recommend it.

Very good location, close to the bus. The village is charming. The Rooftop is an added value of the place.Fran, the owner, is definitely a person you want to share some time with: very kind and good musician :)
If you just want to be by yourself , write your book and talk to nobody this is not the place to go. While I was there, the majority of guests where actually living there, with a few loud elements that were quite rude (or simply unexperienced "wannabe hypster"). Bring earplugs for your confort and expect your food to disappear (common problem with a lot of youth hostels).

great atmosphere with helpful & nice staff as well as easy going guests; well equipped kitchen & lovely rooftop; good location, easy access to bus station or hiking trails; reasonable price.
the metal bunk bed is old, I could hear every movement from upper bed. Also the sound insulation is bad, could hear the people from the kitchen, although I slept with earplugs.

Atmosphere of place. Good choice if you want to socialise with other travellers
There are not many places you can get to without car incl beaches. But it's more a problem of island than hostel itself.
