It’s a small hotel in the Huelin area near the Princesa Metro Station and overall 25 minutes by taxi from Málaga airport. Solymar Hotel is nestled in a quiet neighbourhood 10 minutes walk away from a well-maintained and clean sandy Playa de Huelin beach. The Hotel is within easy reach to all amenities including a mobile phone repair shop just in case, and 15 minutes bus ride (Linea uno (1) and Linea tres (3) to the City Centre and the fabulous railway station Málaga Maria Zambrano connecting Málaga to all of Spain. We booked a private room with no meal options because we like to explore Málaga and eat wherever we are. The floors are accessible by elevator. We had 3 single comfortable beds with a spacious wardrobe, a flat TV screen with many channels, Wi-Fi, a shower system providing hot water constantly day and night, air-conditioning and a fridge. We were impressed by the mosquito and insect repellent net on the windows which gave us undisturbed nights of sleep. The kind maids came to our room daily to tidy up and replenish what was used, including towels. The reception was designed and run with the intention of facilitating the guests around the clock. We were also happy to be given the chance of practicing our rudimentary Spanish. Our fixed impression of the staff was that their ‘hearts’ were bang on set at running the hotel with functionality and efficiency and yet with simplicity, for this is what the hotel is all about.

What was missing were tourist maps in English / German / French with details of where Tourist Offices are located covering Málaga and its environs; apart from this oversight, there was absolutely nothing to complain about or to find fault with. At the end of our holiday, we did not want to go home! We were fully satisfied with our stay at the Hotel Solymar and God willing, we’ll come back again to enjoy its relaxed hospitality and Málaga’s vibrant organized modernity and preserved natural lifestyle, its bakery–powered food, coffee and wine, its beautiful surroundings and boulevards in a glorious sun and sea situation.

Friendly staff, the room was clean with a big bathroom. and a minifridge (a wonderful surprise cause it wasn't written anywhere). There was a kitchen close to the reception for warming up food avaible for the guests a machine for drinks and the chance to buy water to a very good price. The position is good for the beach but you have a close bus stop with buses lines that arrive very frequently and they take you to the city center and to the other beaches in Malaga

The location is great, and everything looks like at the photos. The staff was very friendly too and always trying to help. What we really liked the most is how clean they keep everything. Our room was cleaned on daily bases. If you want to explore Malaga, the hotel has great connection to everything, the city center, the train station, the bus station. Also the local bitch is very close, just across the street and it is a great beach with everything you need. We preferred it over Malagueta for example because it is less busy, less touristic and the water is cleaner.

The fact that there is no balcony. However, we already knew that, so it wasn't really a big deal for us.

There is secure parking, 24hr desk service, access to a small kitchenette with microwave and toaster to prepare food. It had good internet, was very clean and the staff were bilingual and friendly.

The room was quite small and smelt of cigarettes when I arrived. Because the room doors are not keycard operated the desk clerk insists you leave the key with them and there is no safe in the room. I had absolutely no reason to doubt their honesty, but…

We liked our stay a lot! The conditions in the rooms were good, especially the fridge and AC. The room was cleaned every day. The hotel is located in a very good area - just 5 min. from the beach. Near the hotel are many bars and shops. What we liked a lot, was the staff of the hotel. Every person at the reception was very kind and helpful, especially José, who always answered our questions and gave us great recommendations about Malaga. We recommend this hotel :)

We don't have any complaints.

This 2 star hotel had a lot of attention to detail which some hotels of a higher category sometimes miss. The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was a decent size overlooking a quiet inner courtyard. It's close to the beach and at the top of the street there are buses to the centre, with breakfast cafes by the market hall.

Out of season in November there were few cafes or bars open nearby at night.

The best thing about this hotel was the staff, who were always very polite and helpful. Credit should also go to the housekeeping as this place is really clean.

The single room I had was a little small and didn't have much natural light. The A/C unit was old and probably needs replacing. The hotel is situated in a small street about 3kms from the old town. Having a kettle and cups in each room would be a positive upgrade.

Excellent staff very friendly helpful and polite. The hotel is in a perfect location to travel from the airport too and is close to bars restaurants and a short walk to the beach. It is also a great location to get into Malaga city either walking into or by the fantastic transport system. The beds are super comfy and clean and we had an enjoyable visit to the Solymar hotel.

The rooms were big and spacious. There was everything we needed, the hotel had a great position for us because it's close to the sea and close to Carrefour. The rooms were clean, the staff was nice and willing to help. Also after the check-out, we could leave our luggage in the hotel as we went to the city.

We always had to leave our keys at the reception.

The hotel location is easy to get from the airport on bus route A from&to the airport. Very close to the beach area, about 2-3 minutes walk. Close to a few very local places to drink and eat also ( 2 minutes walk to their local daily market - you need to go and visit it ). Is about 20 minutes by bus ( depending on what bus you take) to get to Plaza de la Marina area that has the Marina to one side and the old town area to the other side. The staff was very helpful and friendly, easy to speak with. I had a single room, but it met my needs, all looked clean, had the room serviced every day, even not needed ( forgot to mention to reception on the way out).

The room I was in had very thin walls, I could hear everything from neighbours' rooms and reception area, also people banging their room door was a little disturbing. This is not anyone 's fault, just a building structure.
