Devon rest was a wonderful hotel, set in an elevated position with commanding views of the lake and Temple of the Tooth. The rooms are very quiet, a good size, very comfortable and beautifully decorated with a balcony to sit outside…(although the street below is busy) The location is very central…it’s a short walk into town and the markets and a pleasant 10 walk around the lake to Temple of the Tooth. I can highly recommend the hotel restaurant ..my breakfasts and dinners were delicious and the service was beyond amazing. Plus the location..big picture windows with views of the lake. Thank you for a very comfortable stay, particularly to you Vinot and also the wonderful restaurant staff.

Perfect location, directly on the lake virtually opposite of the temple of the tooth, which is thus only 5 to 10 minute walk away along the bank of the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The gaps around the terrace door that allowed the traffic noise during rush hour to be very loud in the room, were closed by masking tape to lower the intensity to acceptable level. The suite was huge in size.

The internet was quite poor and took over 2 hours to get the staff to reset the router, which allowed at least basic level. The breakfast staff was kind but very inexperienced. There command of English was poor and they had no real clue about the content of the different breakfasts offered on the menu.

The location of the hotel is perfect with a lovely view of the lake. It was very close to the centre of the city and only a cheap tuk tuk ride away. We were there for the festival so saw the amazing parade of elephants. Devon Rest is the perfect place to stay for this purpose and whilst the hotel is an older property, the rooms have all been completely renovated. Each has a balcony facing the lake with chairs and a table to sit outside with a breathtaking view. We really enjoyed the experience and I had booked 4 king rooms. Room service quality of food was very good as was the service of the attentive staff.

Devon Rest is a small/mid-size hotel - only three floors (including the ground floor with the reception and restaurant). The room was a good size with plenty of space for luggage and a wardrobe for clothes. There was a balcony with a lovely view over the lake. Despite being on a busy road, it was pretty quiet in the room. The need was huge and very comfortable, and I appreciated the bar fridge so I could have some cold water! It was also convenient to be and to pay by card (which seems rare in cheaper accommodation in Sri Lanka, although much more common at this price point). The internet was so fast and reliable, and there was a smart TV. It's also a great location - 5 min walk to city centre, 10-15 minute walk to temple of the tooth, and a few minutes drive from the bus / train station.

There's a fairly busy road out the front which was a bit difficult to cross, and you have to cross because there's no footpath on the hotel's side of the street. There's also a somewhat steep driveway, which could potentially be difficult for older people to walk up.

Breakfast, however, was a bit of a letdown. It was a set menu rather than a buffet spread, which limited the options, but the quality of the food was still good. The only significant issue we encountered was with the booking process. We booked through Booking.com and specifically requested a double bed, but upon arrival, we were informed that none were available, and we were given twin single beds instead. We also tried to book through Agoda since it was cheaper, but encountered issues there as well. It would be great if Devon Rest could improve their online booking system and services to avoid such inconveniences in the future.

EXCELLENT, front desk staff a guy name Vinod is so decent and well behaved. he handle everything delicately. restaurant staffs are very well mannered as well hotels staffs too. whenever I visit Kandy I love to stay in this property again. centrally located ,near to buddha relic temple and city center reach by walking by 5 min. we got two room 1001 is superb and 1010 odor was not good rest everything is superb. restaurant foods and welcome drinks just WOW.

The location is great as it is right in the middle of Kandy. You can easily walk to the Temple of the Tooth and other attractions and restaurants. Room was spacious and had a nice view facing the lake and the temple. The included breakfast was great as well.

The parking is a bit tough if you have a vehicle as it is on somewhat of a hillside. Parking being tough is pretty normal in Sri Lanka though. During our stay there was only one other car there so it was fine but if there were several cars there I could see it being an issue.

It was my boyfriends birthday and they had decorated the room with balloons and rose petals on the bed spelling happy birthday and even a birthday cake! Everything was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was very spacious with good isolation and airco. Even though it is right next to a busy road, with the doors closed you couldn’t hear anything.

It’s good to know that the hotel restaurant does not serve alcohol, but the food is great and if you do want a drink there is plenty of options close by.

Great recently refurbushed boutique hotel in a convenient location with just a short walk to the lake, attractions and the train station. Attentive staff, excellent food and beautiful views over Kandy lake.

We loved everything about this hotel.... except for the pillows. They were far too high to sleep with unless you have the next of a giraffe. A small detail, but sorry to say it really affected our sleep and our stay.

Oh my god this was one of the best places we stayed at!! We were so happy when we arrived. The room is beautiful and the staff os very nice. They arranged something special for our honeymoon. We regret not coming here earlier. The kitchen had the best food! Also had a nice view over the lake and it is very close to the city center and shopping mall.

The only thing was that the staff speaks basic English. We had some questions about our travel route and they couldn't help us. They did try their best.
