The room and view were amazing. I’d recommend booking a room with view and balcony, it’ll be worth every penny and is nice to escape the bustle of Kandy to sit and read a book/chill and look out over the lake. The breakfast was very nice. Our room was huge and absolutely spotless. The bed was really comfortable and all the amenities we needed were provided. The staff were one of the best things about this place. So friendly, hospitable, calming and couldn’t have done enough for us. The location is perfect, a short walk down the hill to Kandy lake and the town centre.

The pool is cold, but don’t let it put you off as it’s refreshing and has an amazing view. If you have mobility issues I would be cautious as you have to walk down a short but steep hill from the side road to get to it. The walk down to Kandy lake is also quite steep. I don’t think many taxis/tuk tuks come down the hill to the hotel but you could always ask as the hotel is so worth booking. This didn’t bother us though and we liked the exercise.

Enjoyed the stay. Great base to explore Kandy and the surrounding areas. Kandy Mall is walking distance and so a plus. Value for money but could do with a bar and an upgrade in restaurant facilities - its a shame such a great view of Lake Kandy isn't matched by a better dining/drinking option.

Lunch/Dinner Menu a bit limited and also no alcohol served. It would have been nice to know this in advance but not a deal breaker as there are plenty of restaurants nearby and supermarkets/liqour store as well. The mini fridge in the room is spacious and so you can stock up as you please. PS Beware of monkeys as they have been known to enter rooms if you leave window/sliding door open

Excellent quiet position within a short, but steep, walk up from the lake, about 10 minutes walk from the Temple of the Tooth. The restaurant has an amazing view across the lake, as did our room but from lower down. The bed was firm and very comfortable and the bathroom well-equipped, with reasonable shower pressure and plenty of hot water. Staff were polite, friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast was plentiful and had a good choice of Sri Lankan and Western food.

Hotel charges 3% for paying by credit card and requests payment on check-in. Evening meal can be variable - but the view makes up for a lot.

My family and I stayed here for one night and wish we could have stayed longer. There were welcome drinks on arrival, the staff took our bags to the room and nothing seemed to much trouble. The staff couldn’t do more for us, always checking in to see if everything was okay, asking about our stay and our future travel plans giving us recommendations. The rooms were so clean and came with all the amenities. We stayed in the double bedrooms with balconies, I will say that one room was quite a bit larger than the other and believe they were the same price but both as equally lovely. AND THE BREAKFAST… wow! Such a wise variety of local and western cuisine which was always being topped up. The staff at breakfast were equally as lovely and very attentive. I can not complement our stay enough, I think this is the best hostel I have ever stayed in!

Nice and comfortable rooms with a great view over Kandy, just a 5 minute walk downwards to the lake and into the city, near the Kandy market, good hotel amenities, breakfast and restaurant have good quality, very friendly staff, easy check-in & check-out process, parking spots are available on a limited basis, therefore you need to contact the hotel in advance

Unfortunately the pool is rather cold, it is an open pool inside the hotel (separated by grid because of the wild monkeys nearby).

We upgraded to a lake view room, and it was well worth it. The rooms at the rear of the hotel were very dark with little natural light. We were able to enjoy cups of tea in comfortable armchairs while watching the stunning views.

The entrance is very hidden and quite off-putting. It is also down a very steep hill - you wouldn't want to carry your luggage up or down. We found the food in the hotel was tasty but the restaurant was lacking in any atmosphere. The sheets were threadbare in patches.

Hotel was in a very good location. We walked from the station since it seemed an easier option than sitting amongst diesel fumes in a tuk tuk. Staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful and the pool was very welcome after a busy day around town and the sights. Yes, it was a bit cold but not too bad. Bed was very comfortable; room was spacious with a lovely view of the lake.

Nothing really. It's a climb up from the street if walking but not if you're dropped off by taxi at the other entrance.

Excellent room with Dhaladha Maligawa view. We requested dinner to our room, and it was very good (beyond expected). Following day, we had our breakfast in the restaurant and it also an excellent meal. My two kids were enjoyed a lot during this stay. Staff (from reception to room service, restaurant, etc.) were very friendly. Room accessories including washrooms were in very good condition. As a summary, everything is perfect and value for the money.

We had a very pleasant stay at Lakeview Residince. The view caught our attention first! Make sure to book a lake view room. Splendid. The location is very central and ideal if you want to walk to some attractions. The staff was helpful with insight to what activities to persue. (good English). The food was tasty.

Our shower windows was see through which we only realised after taking a shower and the people doing construction outside was staring at us when we later sat on the balcony... Slightly noisy, not soundproof at all, but it's part of the Sri Lanka experience.
