Nothing to not like - it was comfortable and good value

The rooms are big, clean and well furnished, with cool A/C and a nice bathroom. The hotel has a large rooftop restaurant with exceptional food and drinks. The staff is very helpful and have followed through with every request, which is well appreciated. The breakfast is free, with many dishes and with a free Sri-Lankan coffee and juice included. Moreover, the other drinks are very cheap (3 USD for a cappuccino) but very tasty, comparable to a 5 star hotel. The hotel is about 5 minutes away from the sea if you go by foot, only 10 minutes from most surf schools. The hotel receptionist can call a very cheap tuk-tuk for convenience. I enjoyed my stay, and will most likely come back.

We traveled in the peak season for mosquitoes, so they were everywhere. Luckly, the hotel has special repellents to partly deter them from the rooftop, and there were no mosquitoes in the rooms.

Welcoming staff throughout, friendly and going out of their way to help you. Gorgeous shaded rooftop terrace for mealtimes and relaxing during the day. Filtered water included for all meals. The kitchen team cooked up wonderful international breakfasts, juices, smoothies and dinners throughout our stay - couldn't fault a single course for taste/presentation/size etc. Rooms were good value and comfortable.

Location meant a 20 minute walk/5 minute tuk tuk to the surfing section of the beach, but at least was quiet during the evenings because of this.

Spacious room, hot shower, good aircon and WiFi. Close to Weligama beach and town. Hotel has motorbikes for rental.

Breakfast wasn't to my liking but it's alacarte with lots of options. Dogs barking next door woke me every day about 2am. You pay in rupee and they convert from the currency you book with via booking.com I.e dollars. I queried the exchange rate they applied and when the receptionist checked the online rate it was better so My bill was reduced, she apologised but if I hadn't been aware of the rate I'd have been overcharged.

The breakfast was exceptional. There are plenty of options and all of them were delicious. The breakfast includes free coffee, free juice of the day, and a free choice from the breakfast menu. We had lunch and dinner on many occasions at the hotel and everything we tried was very good! Their cocktails are also nice! The hotel also has a power generator which is a blessing for times when the power goes out (this is common in Sri Lanka). The staff were all super nice, always with a smile, and willing to assist with our requests. The AC worked perfectly and in my opinion is a must in Sri Lanka in order to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom was modern, with warm water and particularly good water pressure. The room was always clean. The view from the rooms and rooftop restaurant/bar were very nice. In case I visit again, I will return to Scenic Bay Weligama.

The only problem I had is the same problem I have everywhere I visit. There was too much light coming into the room in the morning. My suggestion as always would be to install blackout blinds. Also, I would suggest installing some kind of clothesline on the balcony of the rooms to dry out wet swimsuits, towels, and clothes.

Restaurant on the roof of the hotel: amazing restaurant! Suitable for meals throughout the day. The hotel's breakfast is also served here - a large selection of meals. very very tasty. I recommend coming even without having to stay at the hotel. Hotel staff: The hotel staff is lovely! Helped with anything we asked or asked. Everyone is smiling and kind. Room: A room with an amazing view of the forest. Very comfortable bed. The hotel has laundry services that cost 1,000 rupees for 1 kg of laundry.

Location: The hotel is located in the western part of Weligama, a very quiet place, there is not much to do around here. There isn’t a refrigerator on the room. The wifi didn't work that well. Maybe there was a reception problem while we were in the area.

I recently stayed at Hotel Scenic Bay in Weligama and had a fantastic experience. The location is perfect, offering stunning views of the bay and easy access to the beach. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-appointed with modern amenities. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The on-site restaurant served delicious meals, particularly the fresh seafood, which was a highlight of our stay. Overall, Hotel Scenic Bay is an excellent choice for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. Highly recommended.

The rooftop terrace was the absolute highlight, brought to life by Deshan’s super kind and friendly hosting. We had a wonderful time, thank you!

Over the last day the hotel was visibly understaffed, unfortunately, so we had to have dinner elsewhere, and the breakfast - despite the efforts from the staff - was super delayed. To cook for and serve a full terrace of guests it is obvious they would need more staff - hopefully this feedback will help management find a better solution.

After having our room cancelled on arrival at the Good Karma Hotel due to owner wanting us to pay in advance in to an Estonian account (Latvian/Russian bad management team)which i wouldn't do, it really was a lucky escape after reading the negative reviews on other sites which are very informative. After the lucky escape we came across this hotel which is just a few mile down the road in a better location with lots going on around it. Excellent Sri Lankan management. Quiet hotel even though your not far from lots of entertainment. Very attentive staff. Good size rooms with all the mod-cons, excellent air-con, comfortable beds and a powerful rainforest shower, and everything extremely clean, what more could one ask for. The food at the rooftop Bar/restaurant was extremely good and well priced and so were the drinks. Brilliant views of the sea and jungle in the other direction. If your in the area this is definitely the place to stay, we extended our stay as we liked the area and the hotel.
