Very convenient location, nice building design, pleasant dining area, helpful staff, nice bathroom, good breakfast, nice view out of the window, breakfast available from 7:30

-no fridge in room, it should have at least a small one -bin somewhat small -eggs need to be ordered separately rather than taken from location as some waitresses mistake fried and cooked eggs at least if you ask in english - pillow is strange, it adapts to your head I did not like it -instead of placing items for sale in a buffey which confuse, they could put some bacon/eggs/sausagges facilities

This was a classic Swiss hotel with gorgeous architectural details. The cafe food was very good for both breakfast and dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in the center of Appenzell town and convenient to all walkable areas.

The room was comfortable, but a little noisy above the active restaurant at night. No a/c which could cause issues in the heat of summer.

This is a beautiful hotel directly on the Landsgemeindeplatz – the main square – with lovely views of the village and its surrounding countryside. The food – we had dinner and breakfast there – is excellent and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and efficient. As you would expect in Switzerland, the place is spotlessly clean, and everything is truly well organised. Plus there is ample safe, reserved parking if you travel by car. Absolutely recommended.

We found nothing wrong with this hotel. The two single beds making up a double bed are a bit old school, perhaps, and there clearly are more comfortable solutions, but that's a small cavil amongst an otherwise near-perfect experience, and it may well be that that was simply what we booked because nothing else was available.

From the moment we arrived in this charming town and saw the facade of the Hotel Appenzell, I felt as if I had truly arrived in Switzerland. We only stayed for one night but it was a delightful place to stay. Our room was large with Old World Charm. We ate dinner in their dining room and it was very good. Breakfast was also good and before we left we went to their bakery area and they made sandwiches for us to take with us to eat on our train trip. We took a great hike up above Appenzell where we had great views of the whole area. We would definitely recommend a stay here!

Appenzell and Hotel Appenzell were truly delightful. Everything felt welcoming, starting with the staff and the wonderful location. The restaurant is more than excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order and perfection. Since we stayed for 3 or more nights, we received the Appenzell card which included not only many discounts, but free cable car/gondola rides. It was the best bargain in our 7 weeks in Switzerland. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it and the area to others.

Absolutely nothing.

The location is excellent. It is very clean and comfortable. We were unable to watch any English speaking television and we couldn’t air play onto the tv. Other than that, it was a wonderful one night stay in a cute town with nice shops. The food at the restaurant and the buffet were very good.

It was expensive.

Everything, except no air conditioning or fan. We had to go buy a fan for our room. We would have loved to keep the windows open, but the flies were horrible. We bought a fan from the Coop, and problem solved. I would definitely stay here again earlier than June or after September! Beautiful property, staff was wonderful and food was delicious! The building is so beautiful and location is perfect!

Just the lack of air conditioning and fans, everything else was perfect!

We love the breakfast and staff in the restaurant- th location of the hotel on the main square is ideal. This was our second time visiting and staying with the Hotel Appenzell. The downside is that it can stay noisy a bit later but the hotel is so quaint and authentic.

Clean and comfortable room. Convenient location, short walk from the train station. Breakfast was great and staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were efficient and fuss free. As a female solo traveller, I felt safe during my entire stay at the hotel. One of the best hotels I stayed at during my Swiss trip! Definitely recommended!

Hotel appenzell is on the main square in this quaint, picturesque town. It has a fabulous conditori and wonderful restaurant. Everything is redone in this historic, three star hotel. Free parking was a big plus!
