We stayed at the Golden Sail Old City Hotel in Istanbul for a few days. Getting to the hotel was a challenge due to its location on narrow streets with limited access and restricted areas. However, despite this, the hotel is cozy, and the host is exceptionally friendly and helpful. While the rooms may not be spacious, they are perfect if you don't plan on spending much time inside. The rooms matched the pictures, and housekeeping cleaned them, with towels changed during our three-day stay. The host went the extra mile to assist us with parking, which was a plus. The hotel is conveniently located near the Bazaar and the main shopping street. Breakfast was good,served on time and fast giving you time to enjoy it as well. The staff was friendly, and, of course, there were adorable and playful cats around to add to the charm.

The Hotel (guesthouse) itself is a "Does the job" hotel in that you will not be staying at the Ritz-Carlton but it has all the basic needs that you would want from a budget hotel and the rooms are to a modern standard, actually well above what you would expect for most budget stays. The staff were absolutely amazing. All of them. A particular thanks to Volcan who went above and beyond to help us upon check out. I won't state how as I don't want to set wrong expectations for other guests to expect the unexpected from him but, suffice to say, it was very much appreciated by us. Also his English speaking nephew was great at reception over the few days. The breakfast was lovely, once we figured out that the Menemen is absolutely delicious. Very typical Turkish breakfast plates complimented the 'main' and we were still learning about different combinations to try right up to our last morning thanks to staff tips (cheese and watermelon was a surprisingly delicious combo!) - as a family run business, it is clear that they take pride in their establishment and providing great customer care! The area itself is very busy and lively with restaurants. It is noisy outside but only until around 11pm most nights so it didn't affect our sleep. You are within walking distance to all the major 'Old Town' sites which is a massive bonus but it can be quite hilly (not the hotels fault) and taxis won't take rides without trying to rip you off (again, not the hotels problem) so you either need to walk or else a combination of walking and public transport to get to other areas of the city. Wifi good, shower good, bed good, no complaints on any of the 'need to be goods'. Overall, I would say it is not a suitable hotel for elderly/disabled people or those who expect 5 star quality but for everyone else I would MASSIVELY recommend and I would certainly stay there again! Don't think twice, just book!

My daughter and I passed a great week in Istanbul. The room was perfect - nice, spacious, bright, clean and fresh. The staff was very kind and helpful with everything. Breakfast was different every day and it was delicious. We liked the position of the hotel a lot. It's close to the very center of the city. Around 10 minutes of walking. A very good acustic isolation from the outside. There are many restaurants around. The hotel exceeded our expectations in the best way possible. We highly recommend this place!!

The visit to this wonderful city has been fabulous thanks to this hotel and its staff. The attention, kindness, dedication and good disposition of this family has made us feel at home during these eleven days. The fabulous breakfast, abundant and exquisite, truly Turkish. The location of the hotel, a ten-minute walk from Sultanhamet, and surrounded by a variety of bars and restaurants, and at the same time being a semi-pedestrian area, was free from car noise. The transfer to the airport back was arranged with them, punctual and professional, giving us a lot of peace of mind. In Istanbul there will be hotels with more stars, but we are sure that we have enjoyed the best and friendly hotel in the city. Teşekkürler

From the moment we arrived Volcan was very supportive. He helped moving our luggage and guided me to food location in late night. We really felt welcome. The room was clean and updated. The breakfast served everyday was delicious. Also Omar, Baran and the other lady were very amicable. We felt safe and comfortable during our stay. The location is very close to Grand bazar and Hagia Sofia. I would love to visit them again.

There are many restaurents around which gets noisy at midnight. In order to go to tram station at Beyzit you need to walk through a very steep road which might be a problem for elderly people.

Very kind staff, went out of their way to make the most pleasant stay for us. We had some troubles with our taxi to the airport and the owner of the hotel was on the phone with the driver to direct him straight to our address. We can't be grateful enough for his help! Delicious breakfast, great Turkish coffee and tea. Take some freshly squeezed orange and pomegranate juice from the owner's stall, you won't regret it 😊 They're offering bottled water every day free of charge. The hotel is located in a historical area, plenty fish restaurants on the street (but it's even better to go to the Kumkapi fish market and have a dinner there). The T1 tram station is in a 10 minute walk. Thank you Gül and everyone for your help and kindness! 😊

We lived on the 3rd floor, it was a bit tiring to go upstairs in the evening after a long-long walk in the hilly Istanbul 😅

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a wonderful hotel and we couldn't be happier with our experience, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! We would like to thank our staff for their hospitality during our stay. It truly was like an oasis away from home! Our room exceeded all expectations - spacious enough for two people, yet comfortable enough to feel immediately at home after a long day exploring nearby attractions. Everything inside looked brand new, as if no one had been there before us! We also appreciated how quiet it was during our stay; Even when other guests were around, noise levels were never too high, making it easy to sleep peacefully without any disturbance each night. Breakfast each morning provided us with an energizing meal; allowing us to continue until noon; Then we would regroup during our days off, spent sightseeing or relaxing by the pool. ! They also offer a variety of juices and coffee drinks to please most tastes. Overall, this hotel definitely lived up to its reputation of being amazing! I had an amazing stay at the Golden Sail Old City hotel! The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore all the main attractions on foot. The surrounding area is vibrant, with great restaurants, shops, and historical sites just steps away. The hotel itself is spotless, with comfortable rooms and excellent amenities. The staff were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to ensure my stay was enjoyable. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

I recently stayed at this accommodation and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The breakfast was delicious and offered a great variety to suit all tastes. What truly stood out, however, was the incredible staff. They were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay. This hotel is a proof that to be great hotel you do not need 5*, gold and marble all around. Great hotel is made by the owner and staff fulfilling the wishes of the customer and making the stay a memorable one. I would gladly go again! When they have seen that my mom has a problem to go up the stairs, they changed the room for free next day for 1st floor. Note: Hotel is nearby a local square full of restaurants. Don't go there. Hotel restaurant is better and way way cheaper. If you want variety and local food, turn to the direction from Hagia Sophia and enjoy small local restaurants and shops. You will not regret.
