Location and facilities

Arrived for breakfast at 9.15am as booked. Breakfast took 50 minutes to arrive which was not a problem and the breakfast was of an issue excellent standard. Problem when we fetched coffee after eating to be told that we maybe shouldn't take this as our checkout was due for 10.00am. we hadn't even received our breakfast by then do felt that the remark from the lady was harsh and unfair. When we checked out less than 10 minutes later two other guests were checking out at the same time so presumably they were not reprimanded for this. It was a shame as it was a thoroughly lovely place and really good food.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was such a calm relaxing place we loved the atmosphere there. Very clean and lovely rooms.

On the first night it was a bit too relaxed for what I wanted because it was already late and wanted to get food quick so I could get my daughter to bed but they took a long time to serve us even though we had booked a time and we waited a while for our order to be taken then it took a while for the food to arrive but I was in a bit of a rush and if I wasn't which people usually are not when going out to eat I would have not minded the wait and relaxed with a drink

The staff were helpful, friendly, excellent. The food was great - I loved the first steak I had. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was lovely.

It was not about service - it was about the room structurally. There are parts of the room in which I could not stand upright. Also, maybe a bit more soundproofing is needed in the walls - on my third night, a couple was given the room next to mine. I could not sleep even though I was exhausted because of the moaning and groaning, then I woke up at 5 am to do my prep for work and they got up and were at it again. It sounded like our beds were on the same wall! Also the location - even though I liked that it was not in a busy noisy place - it was so out of the way that it is reachable only by country lanes and I find driving on country lanes stressful.

The Fox Inn was a lovely place to stay! The room was cosy and very comfortable. Clean towels and fresh supplies were available should you request them. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. Food in the restaurant was very good but felt that there could have been a little more choice. Thorougly enjoyed our stay.

There wasn't very much not to like at The Fox Inn. If i was being picky I would have liked a fridge in the room and at breakfast would have liked some fresh fruit but other than that it was a great place to stay.

Lovely hotel/pub with exceptional staff who gave us a warm welcome. It was very clean and tidy and the rooms were nice and bright. Good choice of coffee and tea in rooms with added bikky. It was an exceptionally hot night but we had the benefit of a fan in the room, which was fab. In a different hotel the night before I had had a 'spider incident' so we slept with the window closed but here it felt so clean and airy and spider free that I even dared to leave the window open!!! Lovely cooked breakfast also choice of pastries and cereal.

Only 1 small thing that could have been better and it really isn't a huge issue but the shower could do with some form of shelf for bottles. As it's fairly small every time we picked up a bottle from the floor we both hit our heads on the shower handle.I thought hubby was just being clumsy and then I did the same thing!!!!

The room was huge, with masses of space for us and our two large dogs. Lovely big bed, too! It was beautifully decorated. The food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Staff were delightful and couldn't do enough for us. They're all genuinely dog-friendly too. The village is tiny, and set in a beautiful area with lots of walks from the doorstep. You can also buy a little booklet of routes, produced by Brewery Farm, opposite to, and connected with, the pub. There's a nice little farm shop there, too. Highly recommended.

Room was nice - clean, comfortable, large

Email replies before arrival were a little abrupt, but actual welcome on arrival was fine. We didn't like the rule that dogs couldn't be left in the room - ours is always shut in his crate (bed) when left, and having to take him down to dinner meant he got over tired (a bit like a child does), hyper, excessive panting and none of us got a decent night's sleep as a result. We did ask reception on arrival about whether we could leave him in his crate, but we weren't told we could.

Very relaxed and friendly environment

The only bad thing I would say is they took a long time to serve us for our evening meal and we booked breakfast at the earliest time we could but they were not ready so we missed out on a lot for example they were bringing out pastries and juices as we were leaving. We had our toast without butter but again they brought that out as we were leaving and the staff were no where to be seen. It was nice that they were relaxed but I felt they were so relaxed they didn't check we were happy

Room was nicely decorated- attractive building & lovely breakfast.

It was very cold- radiators were all off in the bar & the lights were bright-and it was not cosy - pop music did not add to the ambiance. People were huddled in coats. Tv in our room had not been set up- no bbc or itv for the news- & the radiator was off so - soon warmed up when we turned it on but it was cold when we arrived, as was the towel rail. Please no Radio 2 over breakfast.. classical music would be nicer.

The pub, which is situated in a peaceful village in beautiful Dorset countryside, is larger than I imagined, and we were pleased with the spaciousness, yet cosiness of the bar areas. The food was great; a tasty breakfast was served each morning, and the evening food in the bar/restaurant was yummy too (I so enjoyed the meal I ate on the first night, that I ordered the same again the following evening!) The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall I rate this as my favourite stay from all the UK mini-breaks we've had this year, and will definitely visit again.

Maybe a bit more shelving in the ensuite, to place toiletries. The pub/hotel will be under new ownership in the New Year. Though this could mean changes, from what I understand when speaking with some of the staff, the new owners want to keep in place the things that currently work well, so I have confidence that when we revisit in 2024, we will experience the same great service, comfort etc...
