The room was a very good size and liked the walk in shower with seating area and handrail. Very thoughtful for Senior guests. Breakfast very good.

What was really disappointing was with booking.com. I booked a twin room on-line with booking-com only to find on arrival at the hotel that just a standard room was put through to the hotel from Booking-com and NOT a twin room as I particular made a point of stating on their website!! The hotel was fully booked the first night, but they made an effort to get a twin room for our final night. I was told that this is something that booking.com do, just specify a standard room and I was shown this by the staff what they received from booking.com. I am therefore very unlikely to use booking.com for hotel bookings if this is their standard procedure, as it was very upsetting to share a double bed, not even a king-size bed to share!!

The staff are super friendly and helpful - I loved Sian and Sofia ( who was on night duty) - all the staff were thoughtful and helpful and made me feel seen and welcome. I liked the diversity of the staff and patrons. I was able to loan an international power adapter and they will allow you to use the restaurant area for your own meals, if you'd rather not eat food in your room. I was given a goodie back with candy and water and a lovely room on the second floor - it was clean and attractive, the bed was great and the shower strong. As part of the IHG group they meet the standards required to make the stay worthwhile. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

They will impose a parking fee of 100 pounds if you dont register visitors vehicles, I think that needs to be explained more clearly at reception that this goes for ALL cars. We had to call to get them to cancel the fine. Just be mindful of the parking rules. Otherwise a great place to relax and unwind, lovely view from the window and peaceful and quiet. Loved being here.

Aaron on reception from the moment we got there was polite and very friendly and welcoming, the room was extremely spacious and we all loved the little note in the bathroom stating if you had forgotten something not a problem you had spares and to just notify you if we needed anything. When we went down to breakfast we loved how hot the food was but also how clean the area was, being a serve your own we was aware there would be abit of untidiness due to this fact and there wasn't any at all. All the staff in the morning were polite and welcoming, which helped us stay relaxed for our breakfast. As a group of 4 (2 twin rooms) we all loved our experience and can't wait to book a visit again, to which we are already planning for next year.

Sophia was excellent and always is, to be honest. We are return visitors, and she always goes above and beyond to make us comfortable, whether she is managing breakfast and catering to our dietary requirements or front of house; this time in particular I came alone with my baby. She assisted me to my room, with my bags and set up the heating in my room after a friendly chat at reception. May I add this was after midnight. It was much appreciated and helped me feel at ease first time travelling alone with baby. I chose to stay at this hotel for the familiarity although having business on the other side of town and was not disappointed. I stayed two nights and was offered clean towels etc in the morning. The bed was comfortable, showers hot and spacious, breakfast plentiful, hot and varied, parking is free, good/quick access to motorways. I would recommend and stay again. Thank you so much for your efforts!

A pool would have been awesome in this hotel. Probably an unreasonable request 😅 Nothing to not like for me.

It was all good apart from the smell in the room, the toilet could have been cleaner, there were hairs in the shower, the shower gel and soap sprouts were not clean. The Cistern has dirt marks on them. The pillow and the quilt could have less stain. The breakfast was okay, but the staff member looked tired, the breakfast was good though.

There were few things wrong in the room, i wasnt expecting a dirty pillow, shower room and cistern from a high profile business like holiday inn. And I do stay alot in the brand hotels and local hotel, the cleanliness was a questionable, and I didd share this when i drop the keys of the room.

We stayed in Birmingham at your Holiday Inn Star City, IHG hotel. What an amazing time we had! Although when we turned up my sister wasn’t in a room with a roll in shower which is what she needs as she’s in a wheelchair the staff were incredible and sorted it out straight away whilst apologising profusely. We had a lovely time away in Birmingham at this hotel the staff were so lovely and nothing was too much of an ask! I would like to commend 2 members of staff in particular Sian and Anna with 2 n’s as they made our stay that extra special they were so lovely and welcoming and literally went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay! It’s for this reason that next time I am in Birmingham I will return to your hotel with pleasure! Breakfast was lovely and was replenished regularly, hotel was clean and beds were super comfy. Would recommend to anyone! Many thanks Alisha x

No complaints I love everything about the hotel

The rooms were extremely spacious and clean. Location was great to get to the NEC. The carpark is free which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel. The breakfast that was included was tasty and fresh! The lady on reception when we arrived just after midnight (so technically 09.03.24) was extremely friendly and welcoming. I didn’t get her name but she deserves to be recognised!

Unfortunately the window in our room was broken so the room felt extremely cold when we came in. We put the heating on to solve the issue so didn’t report it at the time but it probably needs looking at. Not a huge deal but the 2 USB sockets either side of the bed were also broken.

The property was in a good location for Birmingham centre and Villa park, quick Uber ride away. Properties in the city centre were silly prices. £100 for 2 with breakfast seemed fairly reasonable, very good buffet breakfast, good quality. The room was comfortable, lovely and warm, nice bed and tea/coffee facilities. Didn’t use the shower so cannot comment.

The usb phone charger at the side of the bed has clearly been broken and needs fixing (room 310)

All of it. Big comfortable room. All and I mean every member of staff we encountered from a smile to a conversation were friendly, helpful and just made you feel at ease. Bar and restaurant spacious and clean. Not sure if the evening meals in the restaurant are cooked from scratch or pre made and reheated on site. Doesn’t matter as these were a good sized portions, hot and flavoursome. We were well fed. Breakfast a good selection with plenty of options and the kitchen making sure the cooked breakfast was checked regularly and topped up with freshly cooked items. There was evidence of some general maintenance and ongoing decorating taking place but was left safe, clean and tidy.

Reasonably Priced Hotel not far the centre of Birmingham. In fact, Daytime, it's about £10 / £12 in an Uber to the Centre. More at night.! Really welcoming staff. Always pleased to help you. Food is available and Breakfast is more than adequate, though it can get busy as everywhere else in the morning... We did have a little wait for a table but nothing to cry about. Plenty of parking. Close to Cinema and several eateries.

Industrial location.
