Ty Helyg was excellent for us, being extremely close to the venue for a wedding we were attending. It was also a really short walk into town so very convenient for local shops and eateries. Christine provided local recommendations for the latter, resulting in us having a lovely meal at a Tapas bar just metres from the guest house. Parking was easy with free spaces to park outside/across the road or around the corner on the roadside or in a local car park. Our room was lovely; spacious and well laid out. The breakfast was plentiful and Christine and her husband were excellent hosts; very friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return if/when in the area.

Lighting in the bedroom and dressing room was quite muted which was good for creating a lovely, cosy feel but having the option for additional, brighter lighting in a couple of places would be useful for e.g. doing hair and make up, etc. Other than that, there wasn’t anything we didn’t like!

Everything very clean and well presented. I had the small double which suited me as a solo traveller. It had its own ensuite shower. All scrupulously clean. Only slight drawback was that it was up 2 flights of rather steep stairs.. but there was a fridge on the landing for milk for tea and coffee which helped. There was street parking outside initially and then once I had deposited my suitcase etc I was given a parking permit and took the car round to the Theatre car park. Plenty of room there. Walk back took about 4 minutes. Breakfast was excellent..proper poached eggs! And gluten free toast. All very nice. Would stay again if travelling this way.

See above.. steep stairs to unload one's luggage.. and having to park car elsewhere. But the parking permit system worked fine.

Christine was an absolute legend start to finish. I wasn't sure I could make the date I sent originally and Christine was very accommodating. We received a warm welcome and a thorough check in. My friends and I were doing a hike up Pen y Fan leaving very early in the morning. Christine made us a packed lunch to go full of the essentials and more. That afternoon, I returned in a bit of a state, cold and wet. Christine offerred to dry some of my wet clothes and I had a lovely long warm shower. To top it off, we all had a made to order full english on Sunday morning. Christine is an amazing host and we enjoyed her company and her husband's in a beautiful environment. 10/10 - we would visit again! P.S T to top if off, I left some headphones in Brecon which Christine offerred to post on. A star of stars!

It was all great.

I stayed here for one night at the end of cycling the Taff Trail from Cardiff. The host, Christine, couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. She didn't mind that I had a wet and dirty bicycle and showed me to a location where I could leave it securely overnight which was very reassuring. Lovely Labrador who was also very friendly. Very comfortable room and the breakfast was much appreciated and hearty before my next day of cycling. Would highly recommend.

It was all good.

The owner paid huge attention to detail

* Tried to take a shower early hours of the morning, but no hot water from the shower. I appreciate, that wanting to shower at odd times is not the norm and perhaps heating systems close down? * Being asked for my breakfast choice on arrival the day before was a little strange! However, I do understand that the proprietor needed this information in advance as she runs a small business, without an army of staff. Breakfast was delicious…smoked salmon, scrambed egg and granary toast.

Very good location near the centre of town and the theatre. Easy free parking right outside. Good breakfast with several choices and ample extra butter and marmalade. Very quiet and very comfy - we slept like logs!. Nice and warm. Well sized room and bed. Neutral calm decor with some nice pictures. Plenty of hanging space. All spotlessly clean and fresh.

The en- suite is a bit cramped but all fitted in OK.I would like to have muesli before the cooked breakfast even if it cost more.

This was a wonderful place to stay with a comfortable room with everything you could want. A lot of thought had gone into providing a very high standard of extras, such as fresh milk and having hot chocolate available if desired. All this, combined with the friendliness and unobtrusive helpfulness of the host and her delicious breakfasts made for an unforgettable stay in Brecon.

Christine could not have been more helpful with a warm welcome and ongoing support and assistance durjng our visit. She provided us with important information regarding car parking on the day we set off for our journey. The breakfast served was of a high standard - lovely cooked breakfast accompanied by plenty of toast, tea/coffee and orange juice. Christine also allowed us the flexibility of delaying our checkout on the Sunday bh half and hour; this was much appreciated. The location is easy to find and well-positioned in the town centre. Bathroom/shower facilities very good - shower was warm.

To be honest there was very little to dislike.

Every aspect of my stay with Christine and Robyn as extremely positive. I was traveling via motorcycle and had a handful with my dry bags and riding gear. Christine met me me at the door, helped me get situated and talked me through the ammenities at the guest house as well as the surrounding area. She gave me great tips where to eat for dinner, as well as a couple nice shops to pop into. I later found out that we shared a common interest in wine, and they were kind enough to share a glass of a particularly good red after I returned from dinner. Breakfast the next morning was very tasty, and they made sure any concern I had was promptly seen to. You can't go wrong staying here, Ty Helyg comes highly recommended!
