The location is definitely the winner for this place. If you want a day trip around the castle then it's in a perfect place - not too in the city centre but a 3 minute walk gets you there. This means that you don't get all the rowdy drunken behaviour that goes along with being in a city. The room was very spacious too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The price was a killer for me. I appreciate that it was close to xmas and a Friday and Saturday is going to be more expensive than a weekday, but the value for money was not there for me. Breakfast was extra but for half the price you could find somewhere down the road which gave you more grub. Personally, I don't like having a car park advertised as a facility and then getting charged for it. This also may sound trivial, however when you are given a room with a castle view and then the windows are so dirty you can hardly see said castle, it's not that much of a bonus.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, not far from the station and right by the castle. Our main reason for being in Cardiff was to visit the Museum which was only a few minutes' walk away. Our room was ideal and in a position within the hotel which suited us and was in line with what I'd requested. It was a very good size, warm and relatively comfortable. We liked the olde worlde ambience and the whole place had a lovely, if slightly tired, charm with plenty of space, a light and airy entrance way and grand staircase. The breakfast was fine.

We ate at the hotel one night. Our meals were good; we enjoyed them but the waiting staff could have been a touch more attentive, not standing in groups chatting.

The facilities are very well kept and clean. The staff was always very kind and willing to provide a good service. The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was comfortable. I would highlight the bathroom with a nice bathtub, and a towel warmer which was a nice touch to make the experience very comfortable, particularly after being out in the rain; and the breakfast options which very good overall.

Overall I do no think there is something to criticize about this hotel. If I had to pick something to improve, it would be that some days the line to enter the breakfast area were long because the person assigned was busy tending to the guests and not in their post. But I think it is very understandable and it did not impact my experience in any negative way.

Our son and partner have moved to Cardiff so my wife and I stay at this hotel when visiting. All of the staff are excellent along with the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel. The breakfasts are great and the food is replenished right up to closing, unlike many hotels. The hotel was fully booked on this last visit so we had to have a suite - now we are spoilt and will have to have a suite on future visits.

No car park - not happy in leaving my car overnight in a center NCP Hotel a little tired but spotlessly clean which to us makes up for it. You have to also appreciate the age of the hotel.

Location is right in the city centre opposite the castle, and very close to the Principality stadium . The hotel is not a modern "plastic" hotel but one with a lot of character. Our room was not huge, but perfectly adequate and clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked and hot, with proper fresh mushrooms, bacon perfectly cooked, proper fresh grilled tomatoes, and the rest of a cooked breakfast, as well as the usual cereals, breads, pastries, cold meats, cheeses etc. Restaurant staff were friendly and efficient.

Nothing really. The only problem was that the lifts were faulty and being repaired, meaning we had to use the stairs. But that was a very temporary problem, which was swiftly resolved.

We had a great stay! Our hotel room was clean, comfortable and very spacious. The interior of the hotel itself has a palatial feeling and is very clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful.and the breakfast is very generous. The only thing that was missing and would have been nice to have was some bottled water available in the room. That said, there is tea and coffee included on the welcome tray. There is a great deal available for overnight parking in the NCP car park a little further down the road. The car park is secure and open 24 hours. I will definitely be staying here again in February!

We haven't stayed at the angel for a few years - but this visit to Cardiff needed a central hotel in which to stay. The Angel has an unrivalled position - For the city centre, historical attractions & for the train & bus station. We booked a 'better' room (not basic) and we were very pleased overall with the size of the room & the bathroom. The decor & cleanliness was good too. Breakfast was good - cooked & continental choices were available. All the staff were pleasant & helpful. The cost was reasonable for a weekend stay (booked well in advance).

We travelled by train this time - but noted that the hotel carpark is no longer in use? We did not enquire if the hotel has an arrangement with other nearby carparks. The lift in the hotel is very small (4 people max) & slow!! There are 2 lifts, but 1 was out of order.

The Location was ideal very accessible to all public transport hubs and walking distance to the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Castle and stunning restaurants. Entrance way was grand and felt quite elegant walking up and down the stairs. The room was clean and the showers had great pressure and temperature.

There are a few touches that make the room look tired such as the bathroom mirror needed replacing due to rust spots. The plug next to the bed was in an awkward spot and had to push the bed across a couple of inches to access. I would have liked a door stop for the base of the entry door as the gap was a bit big and a reasonable amount of light could get through.
