Large and spacious room made it a relaxing experience. Weather and our need to rest and go at a gentle pace determined that we needed to be in our room for a large part of our stay. It isn’t an easy hotel to keep the shared areas and corridors warm. In Winter weather. It was attractively decorated in a Christmasy theme. The Spa area is the most cosy place to sit for coffee. There is always someone on reception for returning late into the night. Management were extremely helpful and supportive in arranging somewhere private with good telephone reception for a pre-arranged medical appointment.

The lounge areas in the bar have through traffic which makes them draughty at this time of year. When staying there as a couple, it doesn’t lend itself to people having opportunities to mix, meet or chat. Easier for people going as a group of friends.

Lovely large room and bathroom. Beautifully and tastefully decorated too.

Tissues in bathroom lacking. Another wastepaper bin too. Tea & coffee making facilities at breakfast need a rethink - very tricky to carry cups across large room, spillages do happen! Not easy for older people either.

Amazing from check in to check out. Absolutely stunning building and looked beautiful with the xmas decorations and we also got to see it in the snow 😍 we only booked a basic room but were given a huge beautiful room 2 doors away from the pool. The spa facilities are amazing. The pool was lovely and warm and jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were brilliant. Extremely polite and helpful staff and we will definitely be booking again.

We did fri to sun and on the Saturday night the people above were awful we were kept up till gone 3am. But.... I went to reception and they went up and repeatedly went up to keep telling them and eventually they asked them to leave. They dealt with it brilliantly and in no way was it any fault of their own . They even offered to move us room. This has still not put us off returning and cannot wait for out next stay

Beautiful Large old property was a little bit of a maze upstairs the rooms were clean large and quite modern bathroom had a lovely walking shower and a bath and was lovely and warm with a heated towel rail. The restaurant is à la carte so did find this a bit pricey had two courses with a drink for 4 came to £160 there was ample parking outside and with the stay you could use the spa steam room sauna swimming pool Jacuzzi Jacuzzi did look like it needed a bit of a spruce up though and had a bit of a smell of smelly socks apart from that, everything was lovely. staff were all very helpful and friendly. Got a Uber into Chester town itself which cost £6 and then paid £7 to get back later that evening still cheaper than the car park which would’ve cost us £15 .

As I have no sense of direction did get lost a couple of times upstairs trying to find my room as it was up the stairs down the corridor through a white door that had nothing written on it to find our room number 55

We initially chose the hotel due to it's location as it was convenient for both Chester zoo and the town centre. The staff were great and made us feel very welcome in both the hotel and spa. Our room, just off the main entrance, was spacious and the very large bed was extremely comfortable so we both had a great night's sleep. There was a good selection at breakfast and dinner in the restautant was good, if a little pricey for the options available. Overall, good value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We were in a room that catered for disabled guests and there was a curtain in the walk in shower that needed to be changed. We also had a lovely relaxing massage in the spa although the area does need some maintenance as much for the benefit of the staff as anyone else. However, only a couple of minor issues that didn't spoil our overall view of the hotel which we will definitely visit again!

Loved the location, not far from the centre, the room was a good size plenty of space, clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. Would stay again.

The only issue we had was when we got back to the hotel Saturday night we wanted a quiet drink before bed, they had a wedding on in the main bar area so we couldn't go in, the other bar (if you can call it that) was tiny, no draught beer or soft drinks, they had to go into the main bar area to get them, seemed to take forever to get our drinks. It felt like they wasn't prepared beforehand to open the other bar for hotel guests. Maybe that's something they need to look at, cause I know there was a few of us guest a bit frustrated by this.

Staff was really friendly and helpful, we'd run out of shampoo in the room and they gave us some small bottles straight away. The gym was good, very basic equipment compared to the gym at home but for a hotel gym it was fine. The swimming pool, hot tub and steam room were amazing, the sauna was a bit too hot for my partner but we just went in the steam room which isn't as hot, managed to get the bubbles on in the hot tub once during our stay but couldn't figure out how to get them back on again after, the pool was lovely and warm. The room was amazing too, clean and very big, the bathroom had a huge shower and bath which we didn't use unfortunately but the shower was great, it did have a step up which I almost tripped on but I am clumsy. Not much around the immediate area but the town centre and Cheshire oaks aren't too far by car and there is an Aldi and a pub on the island not far from the hotel. Overall a lovely stay and have no complaints 😊

Only thing and it's if I was being picky, the lights in our room had different bulbs in each light so one was more of a warm yellow the other was bright white, as I said that's me being picky but my OCD didn't like that 😅

The room was really nice, huge bathroom, very quite, very clean, and tidy, the spa was so good, l loved it, my partner loved the pool. The breakfast was alright, although we did have to wait to be seated, as there was no person to direct us.

We were very surprised that we could not phone out or to receive any calls, but you could do these things if you wanted to go outside, one day it was raining really hard, so not too good, we were waiting for a call from a garage where we take our car to be serviced and MOT, problem was, they did phone us twice and left a message, but did not receive any calls or messages, the garage needed to tell us something about the car, but until we went out for dinner in the evening, we never new there was this call or message, would be good to be able to place a call and receive calls inside the rooms. Breakfast was alright, however, there was no fried eggs only scrambled, no hash browns only one left which was hard, no fried tomatoes, no coffee, shame but we will not stay here again.

The space in the room and bathroom was really great. In addition to a king size bed there were 2 chairs to sit and relax in. The lady on reception when we checked in was very welcoming and informative.

There were a few maintenance issues - very minor things like the battery cover on the remote control was missing and light switches not working. In the bathroom there was only one of the lights working. There was a notice about hot water taking 10-15 minutes to come through to the room during busy times which was a little unsettling however, we did not have any problems with this and hot water was almost instant. In the swimming pool area there were some signs that things could be looked after better and with more attention to detail. During the children's hour in the pool there were some children who's parents were sat chatting in the reception area and not really supervising. This meant that the behaviour got a little bit loud and unruly.

The hotel was in an excellent location for Chester attractions. Staff were very accommodating and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. When issues raised they were addressed promptly Hotel rooms spacious and well equipped. Grounds well maintained and picturesque. Breakfast varied. Spa & pool lovely. Although both a wake and wedding taking place at hotel, hotel still able to deliver a service to other guests away from gatherings.

The following didn't spoil our stay. However, the layout of how breakfast was served wasn't conducive to serving guests, especially at busy times. Did get somewhat 3/4 people deep trying to get hot drinks, toast/provisions, and cereals. Toasters provided amusement. Took a little while to toast. Staff busy, so tables not always cleared.
