Our room (their best room I believe) was outstanding. The Superking bed was very comfortable, decor was pleasing and stylish, coffee and tea facilities top notch. The bathroom, complete with a quite new, quality bath and walk-in shower with a large rain shower head alongside a hose head, had a heated floor and towel rail and lots of space. The interior of the pub was stylishly decorated to a high standard, with a welcoming, cosy ambience. All of the staff were pleasant, friendly and keen to please. Food was of decent quality and generous portions. The views from the restaurant and outer deck are of rolling countryside. Car parking was adequate and there were several locations for charging EVs.
Public transport is infrequent so a car or taxi is required in practice.

From the moment we arrived to the Peacock at Barlow for our 3 night stay wedding anniversary stay we were very happy with almost everything. The car park is on the same level as the rooms so that was very good, my husband had to go down a flight of stairs to book in and get the room key from the pub part of the hotel, the same place the restaurant was situated. A very nice young lady escorted us to our room, The Herald room, she briefly explained the facilities to us…the air con etc. The scone, jam and cream which had been left for us to share was delicious and a really lovely touch. There was complimentary fresh milk and bottles of water in the fridge and a very good hospitality tray. The milk and water were renewed on a daily basis. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and very clean. We loved the underfloor heating, very nice. The toiletries were from the White company, very luxurious. We had an ample supply of fresh towels which were in a storage box in the room, another nice touch was having lovely white face cloths in the bathroom and bathrobes were hanging in the room along with complimentary slippers, another lovely touch. Breakfast on all 3 mornings was very nice, easy order at the order point and breakfast was fetched out to us. No problem at all. We ate at the Peacock on each evening and found the food to be spot on, excellent quality and plenty of it. It could be seen as being a tad on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for! Service was excellent, as were the staff who were very friendly, helpful and polite. There was a good information folder in the room which we found very useful along with a personalised welcome letter, Thankyou very much. The views and surrounding areas from the Peacock were lovely. We cannot wait to return in the near future.
This is just coming from someone with confidence issues around showering without the help of a grab rail and a non slip shower mat for inside the shower tray, personally I would have found it useful to have had both inside the lovely walk in shower. The TV on BBC1 & BBC2 was ok for the first 10 minutes of watching but then the picture became very pixolated, not that we were there to watch much TV, we just found it a little bit of a nuisance. Quiz night on the Thursday was very difficult, but very good fun! Thankyou.

This was my second time at this great place, previously we were in the adjacent Barley Cottage and on this trip in the Goldings room in the main building. We must say it was an absolute delight from start to finish of our two nights stay. Owen ran the place like clockwork, nothing was too much trouble. As for Georgina the Chef and her team in the kitchen, what a top job, over the four meals they prepared for us, we thoroughly enjoyed all courses. The beers brewed on the premises are of a very high quality and are the icing on the very well turned out cake. Thank you and congratulations to the Peacock @ Barlow team.

We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the breakfast was exceptional with plenty entry of choice, evening meals very good also. The location was very central for visiting different areas, unfortunately the weather didn’t allow us to do as much as we would like, as we had booked a visit to Thornbridge hall, which was cancelled, but we have received a voucher to visit within the next 12 months,so will be back again
The. Weather obviously, but the only minor thing was no rail for hand towels near the sink, not really a problem as everything else made up for it

Everything about our stay at The Peacock was excellent, from the checking-in procedure, to the accommodation and the food. The staff were very friendly and excellent in every way; they obviously employ a lot of young staff, who polite, efficient and a credit to the hospitality industry. We stayed in a cottage, across the road from the main building and it was fine but next time we will stay in the main building itself, simply for convenience and for no other reason. The food and (very good) beer were a little expensive but at the end of the day worth it. Breakfast was superb with very good and different choices.
Nothing - everything was brilliant.

Love The Peacock at Barlow ! Beautiful, extremely clean, cosy warm in December, beautiful rooms, all the little extra touches, the very friendly staff, gorgeous fresh and freshly cooked food, cosy log fire….and it is especially magical in visit in December and view the multitude of stunning Christmas decorations and Christmas trees…we have visited many times and The Peacock’s extremely high Customer Satisfaction and Focus never wavers nor do they become complacent nor rest back on their laurels… if you too place a high value on all of this then do not hesitate to book. Already booked again!

We returned again after staying last year. Rooms in the hotel and the cottage were excellent. Attention to detail with fresh milk in fridges and homemade scone and cream in rooms. Views from the restaurant of the peaks were amazing, and the evening meal and breakfast were excellent and a lot of choice. All staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We will be returning again next year when we return to do Christmas at the Chatsworth event. This hotel is a little gem, and I will be returning in the summer. Don't miss out.
The bathroom under floor heating in the hotel room was not working, so it was a little cold. However, the staff immediately provided us with electric heating and the room was very warm.

There were no available rooms within the hotel so we opted for the cottage opposite for our 3 night stay. Very well equipped for our needs and quite spacious for the both of us. The breakfast in the hotel was most enjoyable and set us up for the day ahead! Unfortunately the Evening Menu was very expensive there although very nice!! Staff all lovely, chatty and we were very well looked after 10/10.
The carpets in the cottage were surprisingly very dirty. From the front door through to the kitchen steps. We could also smell dogs? but that could have been the smell of the carpets!! Main bedroom carpet was also not clean. We did not complain at the time because we knew that there was no alternative accomodation within the hotel and we were only there 3 days. However the carpets definitely need a good shampooing before the next visitors arrive !!

Everything has been thought of in the well-designed appealing room. Quiet fridge containing fresh milk and water, mugs instead of cups and good quality Yorkshire tea, (Fantastic), a huge scone with butter and jam on arrival, high quality kettle and coffee pod machine. Comfy king size bed, large walk in shower with controls placed so you don't burn or freeze before you get in. 2 sets of blinds provides a good level of blackout for sleeping. Excellent breakfast. We ate in the restaurant both nights the food was good quality and the service was quick and friendly. I could go on......robes and slippers provided.......
Being really picky here.......I personally prefer a wardrobe because I'm a tidy freak but it would've cut down on space to provide one and anyway there are plenty of hangers and a good space saving solution for all your stuff. Thinking about the planet, I like to see dispensers for the shower gel etc so you're not throwing away all the little plastic bottles. Maybe something to think about for the future. :)

Fantastic location with very welcoming friendly staff. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere. The room was beautiful with everything we needed to make our stay perfect. There were lots of little extras like homemade scone and jam. Plenty of tea and coffee. Lots of toiletries including bath salts, bubble bath, shower cap, a dressing gown and slippers. The cooked breakfast was delicious and all for a very reasonable price. We definitely recommend.
Nothing. Only one very minor thing was the bed did tend to move away from the headboard when we sat up in bed meaning our pillows fell through the gap. I think the bed was on casters and the headboard is fixed to the wall.
