Bed was comfy. Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was hot and enjoyable, plenty of choice.

Road noise in odd numbered rooms. Had to fill kettle from the bath tap because kettle doesn`t fit under tap in basin.

Looked like whole hotel had been redecorated, public areas very neat and tidy. Both room itself and bathroom were very spacious and homely, loads of storage, spotlessly clean. Nice to have 2 chairs and a proper table. PG Tips teabags. Location surprisingly quiet despite proximity to A5. Not a holiday hotel, but a great overnight stop. We self-catered for breakfast but there is cafe in next-door garden centre if you don't need an early start, or don't want to use hotel's breakfast facility (must pre-order by 8pm previous night)

Car park needs better lighting. Bed was comfy but had bit of a dip. Need to turn radiator off at bedtime otherwise room gets very hot.

The space in the bedroom bed very conformable.

Very quiet and reception staff very pleasant and helpful apart from Restaurant staff, her name was Lynne, we found her not very receptive on approaching the breakfast room she asked us for our room number by just shouting room number, instead of saying good morning could l have your room number please, because it goes along way whether they are understaffed or not, everything seemed too much trouble for her she needs to smile a little and interact with paying guest's, we felt like children in school, we are ex hoteliers and l would certainly not employ her, she needs staff training to how to approach people, its not only us that had q discussion about her it was other people also, but she hasn't put us off returning.

The rooms are well appointed and a bonus, for us, was the extra space afforded by the upstairs/downstairs aspect of the accomodation. The bedroom areas were on a mezzanine above the sitting/living area, off which was the bathroom. This was somewhat unusual and might present a problem for less able bodied guests (you had to go downstairs to use the toilet during the night) but was fine for us. We were a party of seven people and occupied three rooms.

The Restaurant was closed at the time of the Covid epidemic and has not reopened, which is a real shame. Presumably the economic situation has precluded the restoration of complete hotel facilites, whch has led to the site having a somewhat downbeat feel. This was amplified by our visit to the nearest hostelry "The Poachers" (a 5minute walk) which had suffered a staff walkout some days before and was being run by an emergency toubleshooting team headed by a very competent standby Manger.-an interesting experience.

I have stayed in this hotel many times, but before COVID. The hotel hasn't changed much in its running and is found to provide a clean comfortable accommodation.with helpful and friendly staff Good parking available

On our previous visits (pre covid) there was a dining and bar facility providing a warm friendly atmosphere for the traveler to have an evening meal, unfortunately this is no longer available possibly brought about by COVID restriction, availability of staff and not forgetting the effects of the economy, however every effort has been put in to provide a good breakfast which is a plus.

Quiet old hotel which you get for what you pay for. Plenty of space in the rooms, staff very good. A few things to do around the hotel as well. Note that the restaurant is permanently closed so you have to go out to eat which is fine as there is plenty of places a short distance away. Breakfast was very good. Lots of choice. Good facilities in the room for tea and coffee etc. Bed very comfortable.

All very good but just be prepared that it is an older hotel and very quiet when we were there. This didn’t bother us but may bother others.

For the price i paid, the hotel far exceeded what i expected. The bed you sink in and drop straight to sleep (a Remo balcony bedroom). Full tea and coffee service in the room, TV in the sitting room and in the bed room upstairs. The rooms was spotless and the full breakfast was first class (you have a full selection of cereals, toast yogurts and the cooked items). The hotel sadly don't do evening meals or drinks, but the Poachers is 2 minutes walk down the road and they do food with drinks. Its that good, i will be back again just to spend time relaxing or visiting the local attractions.

Nothing.. the staff was great, first class and very friendly.

we travelled from Devon for a family funeral, we were made exceptionally welcome as soon ad we entered the building. Staff were friendly and could not do enough for us. plenty of tea, sugar and milk when asked for it. Room was very clean, warm. Breakfast was amazing, loads of choice and everything cooked to order, Thankyou. Can't praise this hotel enough.

Front desk was very friendly and kind, especially given the state I was in. The rooms are massive and great for stretching, resting, and repacking gear; there was even a tub for a long soak. Breakfast was delicious and served in a separate building, at a now-closed bar and restaurant. Be advised that there is very little in the area for food, although there is a pizza service that will deliver to your room and an M&S in the nearby petrol station. Facilities were clean but very basic - it has the sterile feel of a hospital room - and the light switches were a bit confusing/ gave off harsh LED light. It is a bit sad looking and has suffered a lot since Covid, but it's worth the trek if you're looking for a night among the very limited affordable options in the Chirk area.

Overhead lighting was quite harsh and switches didn't always work. Quite far away from food options.

Plenty of easy and free parking in the hotel car park. Rooms were spacious and clean. The Poachers Pocket pub is across the quite busy road on the canal side. There is also a large garden centre with a cafe next door. The Lord Moreton pub on the other side is closed but I believe you can have breakfast there if you order it when you check in. A good base for a day or two at a reasonable price if you don’t need to be in town.

Apart from the pub across the road and garden centre next door you need to drive to go anywhere.
