First of all, we had quite a few luggages as we went on a whole week stroll through Devon. Because of this, the staff decided to upgrade our room to no extra cost. They were very accommodating and the room overlooked the sea. We chose to have dinner at the hotel and what a dinner that was: the service and the food were amazing and the price was reduced for all the guests of the hotel. The hotel is a stone's throw away from the beach and the view blew us away. The room was extra clean and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was equipped with all the toiletries one needs. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. Enjoy! :)

This hotel is a gem! Overlooking Hope Cove, it's a perfect location. Room was excellent, all staff were on the ball and service from them all was their top priority. Truly exceptional and so glad we booked here for our wedding Anniversary. They made a lovely special menu and "Congratulations" decorations on our table for dinner when they knew it was a celebration. We cannot fault this hotel, truely exceptional! and they have a bank of chargers too in the upper car park if you need to charge your electric car.

Food was good, staff were super and the location was brilliant. The hotel has an old fashioned air about it but my wife and I really liked that. The bedroom was a good size and although it looked a bit out dated everything worked properly. We had a very pleasant balcony overlooking the sea. The shower was simple to use and didn't leak on the bathroom floor, features that seem to be beyond many hotels.

There could have been more room for towels and toiletries in the bathroom, but having said that, it was better than many hotels. There is parking by the hotel door but if it is full you may need to use the higher car park. This might be difficult for the less mobile, however, the hill is what gives rise to the lovely view.

The evening meal, enjoyed while watching the sunset, added to the charm of the occasion. The views across Bigbury Bay are simply wonderful.”

The efficient, helpful and pleasant, friendly staff were key factors in our most enjoyable stay. We believe it is a family business and that was certainly the really good impression we had. Home from home! All the food was excellent and beautifully served in a delightful setting.

Comfortable room, fabulous location and view, absolutely lovely staff. Excellent value evening meal.

Although all staff members were incredibly welcoming to us and our dog, we didn’t enjoy eating on our own in the area outside the restaurant. I appreciate that not all of your clients like dogs but feel that a separate area actually within either the restaurant or bar would be more enjoyable,

breakfast was buffet style but there were additions which were available on request i.e poached or fried eggs. the selection of ingredients to make up a full English was more than adequate. The staff were well trained by the owner who was present at all meals ensuring guests were looked after properly and were not kept waiting for courses to be served or for finished courses to be cleared away.Staff were well dressed with the owner in suite and white shirt with bow tie as was his assistant. All other staff were dressed in collar antd tie for the male waiters and white blouse and trousers for the female waitresses.

The weather on our second day

Stayed in the Cottage Hotel for a night at Hope Cove while walking the South West Coastal Path. Nice hotel, quite old fashioned in a quaint way. Our room was not the most expensive at the hotel so was quite small, but did have a sea view. Great shower though! Evening meal for residence was a complete bargain and very good quality with good service all round. Breakfast was likewise very good to set us on our way in the morning.

Room was quite small for money paid. Check in too slow as receptionist was on a very long phone call with no great urgency to finish and check us in or get someone else to do it.

Both breakfast and evening meal were good but the evening meal was excellent. The menu was extensive and well prepared, the staff very professional but friendly and helpful. The whole atmosphere was of a high standard Country House Hotel, our room was very comfortable and the view from the balcony breathtaking. The hovering Kestrel was an unexpected bonus to comlete my wife,s birthday celebration. Thanks to all the staff.

The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The food is plentiful but good value. This family run hotel could not do more to make our stay enjoyable . It is clean and comfortable with fantastic views. The coastal walk was beautiful.

The food was alright. As expected from a cosy , quiet seaside hotel. Having said that they take the time to explain the menu , its presentation and speedy service.
