This hotel is a little gem. Lovely view from our room across the Gloucestershire countryside. The hotel used to be a railway station which is still evident in some of the remaining fixtures and fittings. Landlord and landlady Steve and Wendy couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. We had a slight hot water issue which was addressed immediately with no fuss. The breakfast cooked by Wendy is off the scale. Lovely to drink in the bar with some of the locals. We enjoyed a great nights sleep ready for our trip next day to Plymouth. Being only 3 miles off the M5 it’s an ideal stop off place for those travelling to Devon and Cornwall.

The hotel is a 10 minute drive/cab ride from the Stonehouse train station, which is in the center of town. We stayed at The Beacon Hotel & Railway for five nights - The location is great for visiting the charming Cotswolds - we visited Bibury, Bourton on the water, Broadway Tower and Chipping Campden. The bedrooms are good size with comfortable beds and clean bright bathrooms. There’s a pub downstairs with a very friendly crowd and beautiful bartenders. The hotel restaurant serves delicious abundant and affordable meals for breakfast lunch and dinner.
It was very nice.

I loved the peaceful, rural country setting. The room was spotless and comfortable. The hosts are friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. The breakfast was hearty and great value for money. The menu offered a number of delicious options and I was more than happy to eat there. This is an affordable, family friendly hotel and I highly recommend it to travelers who are looking for an authentic British experience!
Some folks complained about the noise of the trains in their reviews, but I honestly never heard them when I was asleep!

This is a family-run hotel in a historic building which was built as a railway hotel when the railway was constructed in the 19th century. The family are delightful, very warm and personable, which made even our short stay quite memorable. We booked a family room which has plenty of beds, which were large and comfortable. The furnishings were solid and of good quality. Excellent value for money. Breakfast is à la carte with a good selection, including for vegetarians.
Wifi signal in the room was weak.

Located in a cul-de-sac in a beautiful little village, it’s a beautiful old property converted and updated to keep up with the times. The rooms are very spacious and kept sparklingly clean. There’s a bar and a restaurant that serves top quality food and drinks. My husband had a great evening chatting with the locals and was made to feel very welcome. For breakfast we were served with a delicious full English (there are other choices too) and it was so delicious and made with fresh ingredients- none of that standard supermarket stuff! All in all it was a lovely stay and are planning to book it again on our next Cotswolds trip.

It was a place full of warmth which came from all the staff who were completely attentive and friendly - with a good breakfast. It was incredibly good value and I wish them well - may their hard work reward them. Thank you for a pleasant and comfortable stay.
For a coffee 'snob' it would not be the place to go - but not a complaint and perfectly adequate for the price. ( I'm not the snob :)) The tea was perfect :)

It was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Stephen, Wendy, their daughter and Katherine (?) we’re gracious host and attended to all our needs. They treated us like family. They have an excellent restaurant on site with great food. I am a cancer patient and they had vegan/vegetarian food choices. One of our taxi drivers said that is a popular place where the locals like to eat. We didn’t have a car so we had to walk to the bus stop or take a taxi to get around.
The bed was two single beds joined together and wasn’t comfortable.

We had a lovely break at the hotel. The bed was really comfortable and wide enough. The room was clean and tea and coffee facilities were provided. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel had a cosy feel throughout and our meals arrived on time and were delicious with very generous helpings. the decoration is traditional which gives the venue a homely relaxed feel. The setting is in the countryside, not near any busy roads and has the added attraction of the Haresfield Beacon being quite close by for amazing views of the countryside.
There wasn't really anything I didn't like. The trains can be a little noisy until you get used to them but they don't seem to run late into the night so its fine for sleeping.

A lovely area to explore in the evening as it is within 10 mins drive of a spectacular viewpoint. Although I didn't need to eat there, that option was a possibility. Adequate for my needs as a solo traveller, whilst not being too expensive. I knew in advance that the property was close to the railway. The trains, though noisy, passed through quickly. Not an issue during my stay as I could sleep with the window closed
Bathroom was a little cramped.

Wendy and Steve were exceptional hosts and treated us like family. The place itself was clean and well-kept and parking was wonderful as it was right on site. They have a pub/restaurant right there too which is great. It's in a good location where you feel away from folks but also in easy driving distance from the main sites in the Cotswolds. We will definitely stay here again when we return :)
