Hotel was lovely, olde world style place. Bar staff (Laura) and waitresses were lovely, quick service and very friendly and informative about the area. Good choice of whiskies ( my other half is a bit of a whisky buff ) and the food was lovely, good variety of choices. Loved the open fire also. Room was quite small but cozy and nicely decorated and v comfy bed Breakfast was prearranged at check in but they very kindly let us change it later in the night as we fancied something different

Room was small which was fine but would have liked ensuite a wee bit bigger with the sink actually in the ensuite and not in the main bedroom

A one night stay in the Crown and Anchor whilst visiting friends. The pub is in a great location with parking available, and is a short walk to the beach. The rooms are a good size, with an ensuite shower and a large, comfortable bed. We stayed on a particularly cold night in January (it snowed!) and the room stayed warm and cosy throughout the evening. Food is available in the pub, there's a good selection of options, all look great. We had the breakfast in the morning which was very enjoyable and very good value for money. If you fancy a drink, there are plenty of options in the bar, including local spirits (give Benromach a try if you like your whisky). The town of Forres is a very short drive away and provides some more options for shopping and such, should you require it.

For my taste, the rooms are a little dated with a small television (maybe 19"), and a sink in the bedroom area. Neither of these are a problem really, it's a great venue.

The location and aesthetic was perfectly charming. Lovely woodstove licking us like the devil as we entered. The crew were very friendly and attentive. It was perfect for our requirements. The food was good, hearty pub grub, perfect for a typical Highland early winter evening.

The breakfast fell a little bit short of overall quality, but we both ate it. That is the only thing preventing a 10. I would have happily paid more for better quality ingredients, and a slab of haggis. But there were other options on the menu, so I'm not going be too harsh, having not tried everything

Nice pub almost on sea front which was quiet and beautiful. Very well located for walking around Findhorn bay. Wished we had a dog as there were many dog walkers in the area. Room nice and clean with tea, coffee and biscuits. Pub serves food and breakfast which was an extra £10 each. It was well worth the money and the bacon & maple syrup pancakes were delicious. Did not eat there in the evening. Staff all very friendly.

Room quite small but did not matter too much as we were only there overnight. The sink was in the bedroom and the toilet and shower cubicle were squeezed into a very small area which looked like in might have been a converted wardrobe. Don’t want to criticise too much though as the room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The pub was really very good value as was the breakfast.

All the staff went above and beyond. We received great customer service. We loved staying at The Crown and Anchor and will definitely be back. Our breakfast was delicious- lots of bacon in our pancakes, bacon and maple syrup stack. Great quality produce used. Our evening meal was delicious too. We would highly recommend the Cullen Skink Soup, the Scottish Wagu beef burger and chilli con carne. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated. Really comfy bed too. It was SO relaxing hearing the sea and the waves outside. Fab location.

We liked everything. No improvements required - perfect just the way it is.

very charming place in an excellent location. Very friendly and helpful landlady and nice staff in general. Very positive atmosphere and good pub. This is how a public house should be. Longstanding history as a place for travellers which certainly adds to the whole thing. Just sit in front of the house and soak in the ambiance and spirit.

yes, room size is on the smaller side - so what!?

It was so friendly, the person that checked us in and looked after us during our 2 day stay was lovely and so helpful. She served us breakfast in the morning and nothing was too much for her. We also had the pleasure of speaking to the owner who was also lovely, she has recently taken ownership and is doing the rooms up etc and seems very excited about modernising the hotel. Our room had just been renovated with new bathroom etc and literally the paint was drying! We had sea view rooms which really added to our experience.

Staff were fantastic. Dinner was excellent. Decor in rooms was modern - clean white sheets etc. outside area will be amazing in the summer. Right next to beach!!

Bathroom in our room was a challenge! The roller door was really stiff and difficult to move quietly in the night. It would be better to have a consortina door as it was difficult to get into the shower as the door hit the toilet bowl (this is only room 3). Our other rooms had no issues with this. The rooms were all clean but again in room 3 the shower needs a deep clean to remove mould and the shower hose either needs a deep clean or replacing. These issues are very minor and did not detract from a great stay. The pub is under relatively new management so I am sure they will have plans to upgrade beds and mattresses, repaint windows etc over time. As a very fussy eater (vegetarian, diabetic, lactose free with lots of allergies) I did struggle with breakfast.

Nice large room, very clean with a comfy bed. Warm and plenty of warm water on tap for a shower. Obvious benefit of a nice pub downstairs with whisky and a good restaurant that I took full advantage of

I realise that no room above a pub could ever be truly quiet but it wasn't overly noisy and stopped at closing time so not really an issue. Also the bus drives round two sides of the building on the hour but also its not overly loud. Solution: noise cancelling headphones, but I didn't think it was loud enough for that

We had a double room with a pretty view from the window ,which was room 6. the evening meal was excellent ,scallops ,crispy bacon and black pudding on a bed of salad ,with other tempting dishes to chose from. We paid to have a Scottish breakfast £10.00 each the following morning The crown and anchor is under new management ,we had been twice before in the past ,the new management are certainly making the premises a warm friendly place to eat drink and stay in. We would come again . We love Findhorn anyway ,we would stay in the crown and anchor again

May be making the room and breakfast a competitive price ,so as not to pay separately for the breakfast .
