I had an incredible stay that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The staff greeted me with warm smiles and made check-in a breeze, offering me a drink. The room was beautifully designed, combining comfort and elegance with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It was equipped with all the amenities I could ask for, making it a perfect retreat after a long day of work. Now, let's talk about the food! The hotel had an on-site restaurant that served a delightful menu featuring both local and Nepalese Gurkha cuisine. Every meal was a culinary adventure; the breakfast buffet was particularly impressive, with a variety of fresh fruits, cereal and cooked breakfast. Dinner was a highlight, with beautifully presented plates and flavors that were both vibrant and comforting. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was inviting and relaxed. The common areas were tastefully decorated, creating a cozy yet upscale vibe. There were comfortable sitting area where guests could unwind, and the outdoor spaces were perfect for enjoying a drink while taking in the lovely surroundings. Overall, this hotel stay was a perfect blend of great food, outstanding hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere that made my experience truly memorable. I can't wait to return next week!

Lovely, warm, with very friendly, helpful staff. My room was very warm and cosy. I was close to missing dinner as I had to work later, I called and was helped through the menu over the phone to make a choice and the kitchen was very accommodating. The Nepalese prawn Korma curry I had.. (I’ve had the good fortune of travelling the world over for work staying and eating in some of the finest) well.. was outstanding and one of the best I have ever had! Place in a beautiful setting by a river it is the jewel of the village.
If I had to be picky the room interior could be less eclectic but that’s a minor detail (and my personal taste) as it was perfectly clean and facilitated.

The room was cozy and spotless clean... Nice place... easy access... staff very helpful and polite.
Unfortunately, I chose this particular one for having breakfast, but on the website didn't say any specific time.. so I didn't think it would be a problem. But the breakfast time was (ordering) from 8am (so give more time to be ready) and I had to leave at 8. The man trying to help offered us a sandwich to be ready to collect at 7.30. We said yes but nobody showed up for that. I went straight to work and was late because had to stop and eat something... if I knew i would have left earlier. Just please make it clear on your website and wherever you partner with: breakfast from 8am... this is important information.

The reviews for this pub were very good, and on arrival, after some initial confusion, on the part of a trainee member of staff, we found that the staff, facilities and particularly the food were all very good, and often excellent. The Nepalese menu seemed very popular with guests, and whilst there were plenty of more traditional British dishes on the menu, few if any were chosen, and certainly not by us. The help given by staff when choosing what dishes to have was first class, and everything we ate was excellent. The traditional English full breakfast was also very good, and everything was high quality.
Our room was fairly small, and the bed had seen better days. The shower room was very good. Ours was booked as a "Superior Double Room", but in reality did not meet that expectation (Room 7). However, because the the staff, location, large garden (appreciated by our 2 dogs), and sports field adjacent, were so good, our dislikes were really very minor.

The Nepalese food was excellent. The most delicious korma curry Ive ever had. The breakfast also was very generous and tasty. The scrambled eggs were a wonderful flavour. The staff are very helpful and nice. Its situated in a lovely village setting. A comfy memory foam mattress. The hotel was clean throughout. It has a lovely garden with fairy lights, and a field next door which is perfect for exercising your dogs. The pub and inn is dog friendly.
The building is old and a bit tired and in need of some TLC. The bed we had is quite low which is difficult for people with mobility issues.

Breakfast Well cooked, prepared and tasty as was the evening meal. The room was basic but clean and value for the money. The Staff were outstanding, friendly and made sure we were ok.
Stayed in January required the following. Just the heating. No heating overnight came on at 7 next morning. The bathroom radiator not working, needs bleeding to remove air lock. Needs an extra chair in room. Also a blanket. If we were staying an extra night being the staff they were if told would act on it.

The inn/hotel is in the little village of Damerham which is about three miles from Fordingbridge. We had no trouble finding it and parked in the large parking area. I had booked one of the cheaper rooms because we just needed a place to crash for the night, but our room was quite spacious and the bathroom had a really good shower - excellent pressure and no leaks to worry about. Breakfast was very nice and larger than I was expecting (the full English with two eggs almost beat me) and the staff were attentive and very helpful. My wife really liked it here (always a major plus) and we will no doubt be staying here again when we are in the area. Unfortunately, we had dismal rainy weather during our stay, but stayed cosy and still appreciated the lovely setting. We didn't have our dogs with us this time around but apparently the rooms are all dog-friendly (another major plus).

We stayed at The Compasses for a 60th birthday party celebration. It was an ideal venue. Our room number 6, was a fair size, very clean and it had a very comfortable bed. Also tea and coffee facilities & biscuits. There was a hairdryer and shampoo, conditioner and shower gel for us to use. I would say the bathroom needs a refresh although the shower was piping hot and plenty of water pressure. All the staff were happy and very attentive, the food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. Service was slow but we didn’t mind that as we were catching up with friends. All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would return.
Bathroom needs a refresh.

All the Staff were very welcoming ,helpful and friendly. Food was great especially the Nepalese dinner we had one night. Comfortable room and very dog friendly which is always a bonus for us when travelling . (Plus the field to the side was handy for dog walking). We really enjoyed our stay .
Just minor things The shower /bathroom could do with an overhaul and regrout . The village is a few miles from fordingbridge so need a car . Not really anywhere to go for a long walk . Overall though we had a great relaxing stay and the place was very good value for money .
