Notification check list for breakfast was a nice idea, taken up to the room and not expected to find it by ourselves, which was good. Pleased with a very filling breakfast, hotel bar was cosy and reasonable price, overall a decent stop over place. We was advised by the staff to try out the village market which had various arts,& crafts on sale, plus local produce such as bread, meat and veg, well worth a saunter around.
Shower cubicle was not as large as used to, but did the job, I would have preferred to book a four poster bed, however the booking agency it was done thru did not allow selection of this , otherwise I would have paid the extra.

Great location, we came here because we were eating at a local Michelin star restaurant so was convenient for our needs. Hovingham is a great village and a really nice place with lots of local walks on the moors. Easy access to a large number of tourist sites from here. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was also very good though maybe lacking as much fruit as we would have wanted. Room was fine, not huge, but big enough and bed was comfortable. Decent internet access was free. There was also a pub and beer garden downstairs, we didn’t eat here but if food was same standard as breakfast we would expect it to be a decent standard.
It’s all a little dated, not unpleasant but feels like nothing has changed in many years. TV’s in the room were tiny and the bathroom fittings were dated. It was probably a little expensive for the standard compared to similar properties however location is everything so it’s not excessive considering where it is.

The Worsely Arms Hotel has to be the best hotel I’ve stayed in for many years. Spotlessly clean and well-equipped rooms. The food (both dinner and breakfast) was excellent. The staff are truly wonderful, so much local knowledge and with exceptional customer care. Zack and the breakfast team, as well as the dinner service, were 2nd to none. A great choice of local beers, and local Slingby Gin(Marmalade was my favourite) all behind the bar. A great choice of single malt whiskeys as well. A lovely lounge with coal fires made the whole lounge area warm and homely. And dog-friendly too – with nice walks around the village. Some confusion about my booking on the booking website (not the hotels) – but the manager Tony was able to sort it all out. A really lovely Easter weekend.

We had a 6 month dog with us so asked for a room with easy access to outside and were given one of the outside rooms opposite the hotel which was perfect. The staff were really friendly and helpful when we asked if we could have breakfast 10 minutes before their normal 8am start on the day we left. The hotel location was a few minutes drive from Castle Howard and 30 minutes from York.
Breakfast was nice but only one rasher of bacon - bit mean. For our earlier breakfast we said coffee and croissants would be fine and we were given a plate each with one croissant on it! I was expecting a basket with at least 4 in it. The room was nice but the window was non opening so no fresh air - in summer it must be unbearable. There were a couple of uncleaned areas and black mould in the bathroom so that was disappointing for the price we paid.

Good base for visiting nearby villages. Very pretty village with excellent Bakery. We asked for local walks and we're given sheets of three circular walks👍. We were also told that there was a cricket match on so went for a while. We stayed on the 2nd Wednesday of the month when local musicians (guitars and violins) have a jamming session which was excellent.
Property a bit tired and garden overgrown. I chose fish for my mains and the portion was minute, so I chose a cheesecake dessert, unfortunately also minute... even for a woman, however both were really nice.

We stayed at the Worsley Arms whilst completing a hike around the Howardian Hills, and found it to be a comfortable, characterful and extremely convenient place to rest! Hovingham is itself an idyllic village nestled in the Yorkshire countryside, and I would highly recommend the Worsley Arms as a place to rest after a long day of walking. Charming local atmosphere (we happened to stay on one of the monthly 'open mic' nights, comprising a gathering of local musicians, old and young), hearty food and comfortable accommodation. Thank you!

Given the other reviews we wasn't expecting alot but this is a lovely old building with lots of history and character, staff were friendly and helpful, we asked for a fan for our room and it was put in our room straight away (thank you). Evening meal was nice and we had a lovely walk after around the village. Bed was comfortable and lovely clean bedding. Breakfast was lovely, okay you have to pre-order but not a problem for us and you could have extra toast etc if you wanted and fruit juice was available on the morning. Perfect base to visit local attractions. Cleaning not good but We would definitely stay again.
As other reviews have stated the cleaning of the rooms and especially bathroom and toilets is not up to standard really, our toilet could have done with some bleach down it! And the shower didn't look like it had been cleaned from previous occupants with water marks etc but maybe it had. Dusty lamp bases and window sills.

Both the breakfast and evening meals were very good. There was plenty of choice. Overall the food was well cooked and presented. The owner recommended a very good wine which I hadn’t tried before and it was cheaper than the ones I was initially deciding between. My bed was very comfortable and room size was adequate for a single person.
The only problem experienced was a lack of hot water one evening but this was dealt with.

Very nice location for visiting sites in the Howardian hills. Nice hotel, comfortable room. Food of decent standard (Fish and chips on Friday night very good) and portions. Nice selection of beers at the bar and interesting wine list (knowledgeable host). Friendly staff, not over imposing. Comfortable room with everything we needed. Good view across village green from front of hotel though our room was at back overlooking carpark.
Room was quite warm but windows could not be opened to let air in. Food was generally good, though a couple of the dishes could have done with a little more sauce.

Stayed for two nights with two other couples. We were given a warm welcome on arrival and this carried on throughout our stay from all staff. The rooms were all individual with character and were clean and comfortable. Good selection of quality food which was presented well and was delicious. All three couples were delighted with our visit and we have already said we would return.
