This is an extraordinary place to stay - if Oban wasn't enough of a discovery for us to return to, the Barriemore is in it's own right. So we'll be back, along with the two poodles for whom bowls, and snacks were laid on - they love you! From the owner's comminication, to the beautifully decorated room, the sea view to the super bathroom, and the personal touches like the drinks, the decor, the room-delivered continental breakfast, in a perfect location along with parking too, we were blown away (and not just by the rain-storm)! Thank you for having us!

All excellent! Wanted to stay alot longer!

We stayed for one night in the Barriemore hotel. Everything was great. We had a top floor room at the front of the house, with magnificent views of the bay. There were proper lazy chairs in the window with binoculars, which means you can sit there for hours. The room was spacious, the bed was excellent, the shower was fine (being on the top floor it took some time to get hot!). There were also some nice little touches, like Tunnocks bars, Irn Bru, and a little decanter with some liquor. And thank goodness, no plastic bottles of water, just normal bottled tap water! And in the morning, a fruit bowl to kick off the day.

My only minor comment would be that we booked breakfast, but the following day got a message from the owners that breakfast was no longer available due to their personal circumstances. On request, you can get a pastry and coffee in your room. The owners have been very clear about this, and I have all sympathy for them. But it would have been nice if Booking.com had told me at the time of booking rather than afterwards.

Absolutely wonderful stay! I love Oban; it's my go to place for whenever I need to escape Glasgow for a couple of days. The lounge area and observatory area were perfect for getting some work done. The complimentary sherry in the room was such a perfect treat!

During the second night it was incredibly loud due to new arrivals not using their inside voices. I'm not sure if they were the room below me or what. Or perhaps it was the television and voices next door? Either way it was entirely uncomfortable, but that's no fault of the barriemore!

Fabulous hotel, perfectly located toward the end of the esplanade. Beautiful room, spacious, comfortable, clean, welcoming, absolutely incredible views of the bay and Kerrera island. The binoculars are a great addition and one soon gets used to policing the frequent boat and ferry traffic. Our room has separate areas so whether work or leisure there was ample space. Enormous bathroom, very well lit and a joy to use. Mark the host very pleasant and welcoming. No ‘old people’ or cooking smells and you would never know the hotel accepted our canine friends. The lovely touches of complimentary sherry, Irn Bru and tunnocks give you a warming Scottish welcome. A shared communal room has extra condiments should you need a top up of quality teas and coffee. Complimentary sweeties and fruits in the entrance hallway a lovely touch. A totally relaxing experience and we have already recommended the place to family and friends. Oban itself is a lovely, clean, tidy and welcoming place. Looking at the pristine water you would never guess this is one of the busiest ferry ports (to the isles) in the country. Wonderful

A beautiful, clean and pleasant hotel in a perfect location. Our room was located on the ground floor with a perfect view of the bay. The room was quite large and comfortable, and came with a mini fridge to use - complete with a complimentary bottle of fresh local water. The room had a large, comfortable full king bed, a table and chairs, plus two cosy armchairs facing the amazing view. The hotel itself was lovely and quiet, even though the rooms were all full - we never heard a peep from our neighbours. The hotel is a pleasant walk away from all the restaurants and pubs. The owners sent a very helpful email prior to our arrival with information about the best places to eat. We tried a few places on the list and we're quite pleased. Great place to stay - we highly recommend!

Great location for visiting Oban. A short 10 minute walk to center of town but many nice cafes, restaurants and pubs even closer. Mark was a great source for sightseeing ideas. The room was exactly like it looks on this website. Our room had one window with a partial view of the bay. There is also a patio out front of the building with two benches were you can sit and enjoy a beverage and a fantastic view which we did enjoy immensely.

Location was good - quite a long walk to & from Oban centre, but we didn't mind that, and it was quiet. Mark was really helpful with suggestions for places to go. The room was pleasant and reasonably well-equipped. Parking was good - a good-sized space for everyone (if people park considerately).

We were right at the top of the house, up 4 flights of stairs, and (as we were away for 3 weeks) had heavy suitcases, so arrival and departure were difficult. We found very few places in Scotland offering bed and breakfast. Barrimore is one of the places that provides no breakfasts, but getting a breakfast in Oban can be tricky, as a lot of places are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Nice warm comfortable room. It was nicely decorated with a lovely hot shower. Every day the tea and coffee was replenished and nothing was too much from the owners. Will definitely recommend the Barriemore to friends and family.

Nothing really the only downside to our mini break was the bad weather which certainly isn’t a reflection on the Barriemore or the owners and probably a hire car would have been useful as well.

Lovely room on the top floor with a large, comfortable bed, nice-sized bathroom, lovely tea/coffee station and small fridge. Very quiet room, a 10-15 minute walk from the center of Oban. Private parking was very helpful as parking in Oban itself is limited. Partial ocean view on once side, hillside on trees on the other was restful. Checking in was easy, with the key left in a labeled envelope at the inner front door.

The only thing to be aware of is that the outside steps just up to the front door are not even, one is higher than the other, I tripped on it (didn't raise my foot high enough).

We were lucky to get a room as it is very rare that there are vacancies……now we know why !!! It is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. The location is in the quieter part of Oban with on site parking. It is about a 10 minute walk along the sea front to the town, shops, beautiful seafood restaurants, bars & cafes. The hotel operates on a self check in basis. We were kept informed of this and what to do via emails prior to our visit. We were also sent a list of breakfast, lunch & evening meal recommendations along with pubs & cafes in the town & beyond. The hotel is spotless & tastefully decorated. Our room was on the first floor and down the corridor. We didn’t have a sea view but we’ve overlooked the communal conservatory below. The bedroom was huge and was dominated by a massive king sized bed with beautiful bed linen. There were two easy chairs & a small table where you can sit with your coffee, tea or glass of complimentary sherry ! Lovely wardrobe & gorgeous bathroom with a huge shower. Complimentary toiletries were from a local Scottish company, sumptuous ! Sadly the hotel doesn’t serve breakfast but we found a lovely cafe on the sea front called Coasters, they do a great breakfast. All in all Barriemore is the perfect place to stay when in Oban. Sadly we were only there for one night but will definitely be returning, for longer next time as we want to visit the Isles.
