Enjoyed drinks and meals in the bar area. Attractive extensive lawn area in gardens. Good car parking.

Wonderful atmosphere at an easy to find, still quiet location. Plenty of parking space with a gate for guests only and nice garden. Staff was very cheerful and informative, from reception through housekeeping to restaurant. The restaurant is a must, if you are looking for a place to dine - amazing food quality.

The hotel must be a good place for weddings, because we just coincided with one. Some teens even talked back to my wife, when she tried to shush them at 2am, when they were still running up and down the corridors yelling. I guess this is more about the guests than the hotel itself, but perhaps security staff could be on site during such events, to prevent such disturbances (many rooms are in a different building than reception, so they may not be immediately aware).

Easy to find, convenient location to the station and town, plenty of easy parking, good reception, pleasant bar, large room (albeit with a smaller, standard size, double bed than the room could accommodate), good bathroom and shower. It did the job we wanted for our family party nearby and we would be happy to return if the need arose.

The cooked breakfast was a little disappointing (e.g. one well done egg, one sausage etc) but otherwise a decent selection of juices, fruit and drinks, pleasantly served buffet style and to table (cooked). Breakfast was an extra £12.50 pp so not particularly cheap but convenient.

My room was extremely comfortable and spacious. The drinks and snack were more then adequate, and the room and bathroom very clean. I personally, would have preferred a walk-in shower, as it is much safer. I slipped, and only noticed the bath mat afterwards, as it was rolled up on the bath corner, and blended into the background ( same colour ) Anyway, all good, and just a personal preference. My 1 night stay was really a great experience, and I would highly recommend it...especially it being quite central.

The hotel is set in large well kept gardens with a large patio and seating area, perfect to enjoy a drink on a sunny afternoon. There is lots of history connected to the hotel due to its use in WW2 by the RAF with lots of memorabilia to see in the officers mess and snooker room. Our room was large with a recently refurbished bathroom and very comfortable beds. Our dinner was exceptionally good with both of us enjoying the rib eye steak which really did melt in the mouth. The evening service was excellent and the kitchen presented a special Happy Birthday dessert for me which was very much appreciated. All the staff were friendly without being over bearing or intrusive. However, we were disappointed with the breakfast. We were expecting plated meals but instead were provided with a buffet style selection which was of a rather low quality considering the standard of our evening meal. Plenty of free parking is available at the hotel which is just a ten minute walk from Retford town centre. We would certainly return and the breakfast was our only minor issue.

Our only gripe was the breakfast buffet arrangements, apart from that everything else had the thumbs up.

I had to travel by train to Retford station and after reaching the Redford Station, I coudnt get any Taxi and I contacted the Hote Reception for a help and asked either to arrange for a Taxi or to get me a contact of the local Taxi (As I was new to that place) and the reception person mentioned they don't have any and they suggested me to walk which was horrible with my safety shoes on and a trolley for 15 to 20 minutes approx. walk. I would suggest as they operate locally and considering the station is located in non busy town, hotel can have some contacts of the local Taxi players share them with needy customers.

Unfortunately, we needed to attend a funeral and this hotel was ideally situated. Upon arrival, you couldn't fail to be impressed, even in the rain. Gorgeous buildings and grounds, plus a sweeping drive, with plenty of parking. You were greeted with very friendly staff and formalities were quick. The room was very easy to find and we amazing. Such a beautiful, well presented suite, very clean and tastefully decorated. For the evening meal we decided to have the set menu, which was faultless. It tasted delicious and was well presented. We slept very well and looked forward to our breakfast, which was included. Yet again, this was gorgeous. We have never stayed in a Best Western before, may due to their prices. However, for £90 b&b, the exceptional facilities and food, this was well worth the money. We would definitely stay again.

We only booked one night and had to return home.

Room was clean and tidy. Plenty of space in the standard double room in the Georgian House. Welcome was very friendly and front of house helpful when I asked for taxi information. Staff working on Friday 21st June were lovely, friendly and welcoming.

During breakfast the servers completely walked past us and didn't set up our table which was offered to other guests. We didn't get our drinks we requested and when we asked for it again the servers gave a very unfriendly huff as they walked away. Made us feel like we werent welcome during breakfast which was a shame as the rest of the stay was lovely.

The property was very clean despite being busy with weddings on Friday and Saturday. we were up attending a horse trials competition at Thoresby Hall so not arriving in our wedding gear but rather in all our waterproofs but we were warmly welcomed, and everything worked. lots of lovely hot water, comfy room and delicious food and wine served swiftly and with a minimum of fuss. Breakfast for us was a splendid buffet which started at 07.00 which was marvellous as most hotels wouldn’t start before 08.00 which is too late for us as our competition usually starts at 08.30 and we have to allow time to get there

possibly the only sadness was that as we get increasingly older there is no lift. My husband is 82 and after a three and a half hour drive we were both rather stiff getting out of the car and then having to drag luggage up the stairs. However we were fitter by the time we left!

Lovely main building & we really liked the Shelley function suite with chandeliers. Good variety of drinks on offered at the bar. Nice & bright breakfast room with a good choice of food. Ample parking spaces. Lovely grounds. Hotel within a short walking distance into Retford Town.

We didn't like the location of our room because it was out of the main building in one of the cottages. Not good if its raining even though only a short walk. The room was cold when we got there 3.30pm. The reception said the heating would come on at 5pm. When we came back to our room at 9.30pm the heating still wasn't on so I rang reception & she sent the supervisor to our room. The radiator was electric & wasn't even turned on. We didn't see the controls on the radiator due to being low down on the side of the radiator plus there are no ceiling lights only table lamps so it was difficult to see them. It took quite a while for the room to get warm.
