We stayed in the Stables building and the room was exactly what was required, comfortable and warm. Tea/coffee making facilities, TV and free wifi included. Separate from the main hotel but connected enough should we need anything. Staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Close to all local shops, and Retford is a lovely town with lots to see. Unfortunately our stay was too short. Would definitely recommend the Elms Hotel!

The decor is a little dated, a lick of paint would help lift the place. Walls are quiet thin, so we could hear the guests overhead and next door. But the turnover is quite fast so in the end wasn't really a huge issue. Menu is not varied, but food is good.

Clean, comfortable room with a very gif en-suite. Staff were friendly and the freshly cooked breakfast was exceptional.

The creaking floor joists in the stable block meant that every time someone came up stairs or simply walked across the floor to use the bathroom or cross the room it was very noisy disturbing gusts in adjoining rooms . The landing lights turned out far to quickly so you didn’t have time to open your door and the downstairs door to the stable block wasn’t secure as it didn’t have a locking catch meaning that anyone could simply enter the block

I stayed at the Elms hotel for 2 nights as i was attending a wedding.I found the staff friendly and attentive.Always with a smile on their faces and a willingness to help and make you feel welcomed, in addition, the property was full of character and charm.There is a restuarant at the hotel and I must add I have never had such a fantastic prawn curry.My compliments to the chef I was informed the cuisine is from Southern India.I travelled the golden route in India and never came across such fine cuisine.A big thank you to all at the Elms hotel for a wonderful stay and I definitely will be back.

The hotel itself is a little old fashioned & dated, decor a bit run down etc., but everything was clean & everything worked as it should, excellent value for money in a convenient location near the A1M. What really improved the stay for us was the food which was on a completely different level. We ate in the bar (there's also an Indian restaurant) & the food was absolutely top notch & great value, wine list was fairly basic, but well priced & some good wine at very reasonable prices - would certainly stay there again if passing that way

Beautiful old building now a hotel. Lots of stairs but we had asked for an accessible room and were given one in the stables, which was fine. Breakfast freshly cooked. Superb curry meal in the Rithful restaurant. Helpful staff. Nice lounge used by locals. Short cab ride from the station.

OK room in the stables, but glad it didn't rain when we went over to the main building for breakfast! Moderate facilities but fine for our needs.

I've never visited Retford before, however I'm very glad I did, especially after staying at the Elms. A warm welcome greeted me at reception, I was then shown to my lovely room which was located in buildings adjacent to the hotel. This was well laid out, clean and with a very comfy bed, as well as being far enough away so as not to be disturbed by the footfall from the hotel restaurant, which I can also highly recommend after having dinner there with guests. Breakfast was plentiful and great value for money too. Overall a great stay made even more so by genuinely friendly staff.

Hotel staffcrwally pleasant. They reallocated room based on need as no lift and whe hadxa wheelchair. Bar was well decorated and coordinated. Food was nice and fresh.

Access to the stable rooms. Very high door bars. Could benefit from sloped access for those with mobility issues as wheelchair nearly tipped.

Staff Were Amazingly accommodating as we arrived for our overnight stay just in time last food Orders. the Currys were Excellent. Good Sized CarPark Lovely Old building Nicely done out. Full English Breakfast Was great. This was used as Our Mild Hogs Motorcycle Tour stop over in the Middle ish of the Country, FANTASTIC PLACE TO STAY!! all 5 of us would happily return with family or if we were doing more trips past this way.

Nothing To Complain About !!

The food and the staff were fantastic. My husband ordered a burger and said it was the best burger he had had in years. Staff were really friendly. Sunday roast was delicious. Bar was lovely and was nice to sit outside.

The bedroom was clean it was a bit "tired". Both of us managed to hit our head on the TV on the wall 🤦‍♀️ as it stuck out a bit.

This is my second stay here and the staff were lovely. Bed is very comfortable and room is spacious.

Lots of dust and cobwebs in main area and bathroom. On arrival all heating had been turned off so the room was freezing and it was cold outside. Didn't take long to warm up but it would have been nice to have it on low for arrival.
