We love this hotel. The rooms are clean. The towels are new and soft. The restaurant serves nice food. The Stockyard pub is nearby, we like the atmosphere there.

A lot of men dive straight into the swimming pool after they have been to a sauna and the steam room. Some men do it several times because water in the swimming pool is cool and refreshing. Really lovely for them as they glow with sweat. I mentioned this at the reception of the swimming pool, but they told me there is nothing they can do. I mentioned it at the reception of the hotel, and I was told that they will make the management aware. Even though we like this hotel, I'm seriously considering not going back just because of the above issue.

Booked the Fretwell Suite for our special anniversary which was very spacious and comfortable. Bar food was excellent and good value for money. Staff very helpful on arrival and throughout our stay.

Toilet in the room wasn't clean when we arrived (used and not been flushed for clearly a long time). Fixtures and fitting in bathroom and bedroom dusty so the room clearly hadn't been used for quite a while and not checked before out arrival. Disappointing given the price and that it was booked for a special occasion. Staff were very helpful though and the bathroom issue was rectified immediately.

All staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Our special celebratory dinner was held in the Drawing Room (not dining room) which was an excellent location. Nice to have a spa too. Great history of the old part of the building.

Spa is a bit 'tired' and needs a refurb. Closer eye on maintenance needed. Socket near bed was unusable. Prior to arriving, it was very difficult getting through to reception. No one answered. We had to move from lounging in front of the old building when the wedding party wanted to take photos :-( Only 1 barman serving drinks on Saturday so the queue was long and we had to physically go to the bar during dinner to replenish our drinks (except wine in ice bucket)

The room was great, very big with extra chairs and a table, which was good for working when I had to. Everywhere was very clean. Staff really friendly and helpful. We went to the pool too, and that was a nice treat for us. The gym looked good, but we didn´t try it. Breakfast was buffet style, lots to choose from, enjoyed the fresh fruit salad too, nice touch. Bar area good and outside areas lovely.

Kept getting lost, it is a very big place and we didn´t realise that you had to keep going back out the main entrance to get out. Would be nice to have a few "plans" in places, such as near the lifts or stairs, as even though there was some signage, it stopped and you just had to look and try doors. A mystery tour really lol.

The hotel had a lot of character which made a pleasant change from the usual commercial hotels. Although the restaurant was closed during our stay the bar meals were varied and cooked by a chef. The meals were excellent and well presented. They were enjoyed by my 6 year old through to my 78 year old father. The rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and attentive. We were made to feel like guests.

The pool was a little cold. However once we started swimming it was fine. My son liked that he waa able to go in the jacuzzi pool as the temperature was warm and not too hot.

Room, large comfy beds, spacious rooms. Only downside was no heating controls / aircon. Swimming pool and gym onsite was a bonus although was busy at peak times. Restaurant onsite was really good. Some unusual and very tasty meals.

Breakfast was just ok. Things weren't topped up very fast so there was no bread or hash browns and had to ask then wait for them to be topped up. Fruit options were also minimal. However the "to order" options looks great (I didnt get one.) The food itself was very tasty and i liked that there were bagels - although no cream cheese.

Used the swimming pool and sauna, very nice but swimming pool could have been a bit warmer. Room was very clean and good selection of food at breakfast.

Ordered a double in bar and only received a single. Didn't fancy a second whole drink just before sleep. At breakfast 0930. One bagel at this time was poor. Did ask and was told they have no more without even checking. Coffee was cold when arrived at table. Had to get the pot replaced and when done they said they had to wait for the water to heat up.

The 20m indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room. Good car parking (and free!). The house is in a nice setting. Away from main road but close to motorway connections, McD, supermarket. Room nicely decorated, good size double bed. There was a full-size bath….great for a relaxing soak to get rid of muscle pain - showers can’t do that. Didn’t have any meals so can’t comment on the food. Would definitely go back.

Shame jacuzzi cold and on a timer which meant you sometimes had to wait a bit for the bubbles to appear. Would have like to see better quality tea/coffee/milk options particularly more environmentally aware packaging. Handles on the windows are the same as supplied with my summerhouse, and are falling apart so difficult to open and close windows. Window panes had a lot of water on them. Would have been a big bonus to be able to go into the original building, as I like old buildings, but guess that’s kept for weddings.

Lots of positives with our stay here. Plenty of staff who were positive and responsive to requests. Food in the bar was excellent and the buffet breakfast was all good quality. We had a minor issue with a breakfast item but there was a good response to our complaint and we received complimentary drinks in the bar. All staff were courteous and friendly, even cleaning staff stopped as you passed them to say good morning. Room was comfortable and bathroom was clean and modern.

Only very minor issues. Bedside lights had very low wattage bulbs so difficult to read in bed. Took the shade off. Shower temperature fluctuated but within a limit that didn't cause me to jump out. Hotel operates 24 hours (including the bar surprisingly) this meant that we occasionally heard staff moving past our room and through a doorway to a stairwell in the very early hours. We were probably just unlucky with our room location,

The staff were very helpful and polite the hotel itself is very nice

The only comment I have is that if you have heavy luggage then its a bit away from the car park. The shower/bathroom in my room think needs looking at I did inform the reception when leaving. The bath tap/shower sprayed everywhere all over the bathroom floor, made a good old mess. When I wanted a bath the shower hose was still pouring water and the same time and visa versa. the shower head was clogged with limescale
