What a fantastic place to stay in the Isle of Wight! All the communication with Martlets was extremely quick, clear and helpful, with loads of information about ferries, attractions and eateries. Our room in Martlets was beautiful, clean and large enough for all our detritus! It also had a large ensuite with a bath and a separate shower. The breakfast was excellent – plenty of freshly cooked choices, as well as cereals, fruit and yoghurt. Martlets is a lovely house in a perfect, and quiet, location and only a 5 minute walk from pubs and restaurants. You can walk easily down to the Shanklin seafront in 10 minutes or so, and venture further to Sandown if you fancy a longer walk. The railway station is easy to get to…so you can then access the train up to Ryde – or switch to the steam railway line if the mood takes you. We didn’t use the buses on our trip, but they seem to be quite regular and they visit the main areas of the island that you would want to access. When we visit the Isle of Wight again in the future, we won’t hesitate to get back in touch with Martlets to book a room. It was an absolute delight to stay there. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Struggled to find anything that we disliked - the only thing we came up with is that the pats of fresh butter at breakfast weren't exactly the same size ;)

Jill is an outstanding host, who went out of her way to make our stay at Martlets exceptional. Nestled on the edge of Old Shanklin, Martlets is ideal for a break on the Isle of Wight. Within a 10-minute walk of a range of pubs and restaurants, the accommodation is well placed for touring the island. Our room was also spotless and extremely comfortable. Breakfast could not have been better. Thank you!

Could not fault Martlets at all. It looks great when you arrive and is just as lovely inside. We had a fantastic welcome from Jill (& Jonty & Jess!), who made us feel really welcome and couldn't have been more helpful. The room was beautifully done out and exceptionally comfortable with a lovely en suite. Plenty of choice for breakfast, cereal, fruit, yogurt and the very tasty cooked to order. Plentiful tea or coffee and toast. We found it quiet and relaxing......just what we needed. Location is far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to get into town on foot. Jill is so helpful too with recommendations of places to visit. Even before our trip she sent us a list of places to eat so we could book in advance, all the places we tried were worth it. Thanks Jill for a fab holiday.

A wonderful warm welcome awaited us from Jill, Jonty and Jess! Jill has a beautiful home which lends itself perfectly to providing luxurious and friendly accommodation, situated in a quiet close just a few minutes walk from Shanklin old town. Set in lush wooded surroundings with donkeys and alpacas grazing in fields behind, Jill's garden was the perfect place to relax with a G&T after a day's exploring.

The house was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was supplied by our wonderful host, Jill, who was very welcoming and provided a superb breakfast. Spotting alpaca and donkeys in the fields behind the house was both a surprise and a bonus for us “Townies”, in addition to the warm greetings received from Jill’s small, very well behaved dogs.

There was nothing to dislike.

Absolutely excellent grounds and location. Property was clean and decorated to a high quality finish. Easy to park. Open fields at the rear and had breakfast outside when the weather was good. The host was very friendly and helpful. Within easy walking distance of old Shanklin Village and the Chine.

Home from home .Jill was a lovely host who really cared that our time staying @martlets was special.She was helped by Jonty and Jess her two lovely dogs which we loved, after recently losing our own dog Molly . Somewhere we shall return too when visiting the island again .

Martlets is such a beautiful house. Jill could not enough for us. From breakfast in her beautiful garden to giving us a run down of the best restaurants and things to do on the island. Our room was lovely and had Wi-Fi along with Netflix and Amazon Prime. We never really watched the TV as we were busy exploring the island. The house is situated of the main road with ample parking space.

The walk into Shanklin Village got a bit tiring after 5/6 days but we are not seasoned walkers. Coming off the main road late at night can be a bit dark if walking. A torch would come in handy.

Very clean, comfortable and home with good shower and friendly host Jill. Quiet location which is good for exploring east of IoW, but really not far from anywhere.

Only minor was not having any shampoo (conditioner and lotion we rarely expect) in the bathroom (only shower gel).

This property is high end on par with many 5 star hotels i have stayed in, it is in a nice quiet private area and Jill the owner goes out of her way to welcome and make the stay pleasant. Breakfast was Great with a wide choice to select from.
