Bed was so comfortable, I usually don't sleep well away from home regardless; I woke up once to use the bathroom and that was it. Room was clean, simple, and comfortable for a one night stay. Location was fine, close enough to restaurants and shopping- Safeway, Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree, Subway, McDonald's, Mexican food a 5 minute drive. Close access to Hwy 101 but still quiet. Quite a few options at Breakfast for the not so picky. They did have waffles AND pancakes, packet Oatmeal, cereal, toast, sausage gravy, biscuits, potatoes.. Also lots of toppings for Oatmeal/pancakes/waffles.My son and nephew enjoyed the hot tub- set up is really neat with the hot tub and half the pool enclosed in a patio type area. Friendly staff. Very safe and secure area.

Breakfast was good but the omelet type thing was not good at all, and not a good option for kids. That was the only egg option. I would have like a scrambled egg and sausage/bacon option but that's probably offered throughout the week. Fridge was not on and no one told us we had to change the setting to make it cold. My only other complaint is that the price was way too high. This was a last minute trip, and for one night we paid $400. It is a very nice facility, but when I checked Booking.com the day we got there, it was $100 cheaper. Prices in CA are ridiculous anyway and just 2 years ago it would have been about half the price. $400 for a basic room is just really high. I would definitely stay here again if I got a better rate.

I attempted to extend for one more night. I was offered the room for 259.00. Keeping in mind, I was finishing a five night stay. With the addition Dog Fee, I believe the highest WEEKEND nights I was charged was 189.00. So 259.00 for a midweek, mostly off-season night, was unacceptable. This visit was for my son's funeral and celebration of his life. Many friends and family also used this location.

I love the location of this Best Western. My 8 year old son and I enjoyed the hot tub and pool during the stay. The staff was friendly and attentive. I requested a downstairs room and they were able to accommodate the request. Breakfast was always good and well stocked. My son who is a picky eater always found something to eat. This is my go to when we visit family in Fortuna.

After a bad experience in being assigned not one, but TWO rooms that had not been cleaned from the prior occupancy at the first hotel I booked online after a long day of driving, I got a refund and booked a room online at the Best Western Country Inn. The night clerk was friendly and efficient, the room was clean and ready for occupancy, the bed comfortable, and the hotel was dog friendly with an affordable $25 fee. The breakfast in the morning was nicely done with lots of selections for a full, hot meal or other lighter options.

The only small markdown at all was for no elevator to the second floor (my husband who is semi-handicapped struggles with stairs), and the water in the shower never got warm for the morning showers.

On the breakfast menu during my stay: Eggs, Chorizo, Tortillas, Shredded cheese, Biscuits and gravy. Also available was; Pancakes, toast, bagel and cream cheese, yogurt, coffee, juice, milk, string cheese. Loved the flavor of the pancakes. Cereal was also available. Breakfast area was very clean. Seating area had some comfortable bench seats and chairs and tables. My Room was so spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. Wifi signal strong.

Not a complaint just a suggestion due to my personal preference. Requesting to place an additional roller shade on the front window to darken the room more.

A few bugs throughout the room, but understandable with open air layout of rooms

I had requested, and advised it would be available, 2 queens on a ground floor or near an elevator if that was required. When we checked in there was nothing on the ground floor with 2 queens. I am not able to climb the steps. The hostess worked with my daughter and found a king bed on the ground floor which worked out all right. However, had I been travelling with my son that would not have worked.

The receptionist was very nice and helpful. We were there for an organized bicycle ride in nearby Ferndale so the motel was very full, and prices reflected that increased demand. Even with the full motel, it did not seem overcrowded. There was plenty of parking near our room and the breakfast room was not overflowing in the morning. The night after the ride the hot tub was a real treat for sore muscles. Breakfast was good and staff was attentive to keeping it clean and well stocked. I prefer oatmeal I can scoop over the instant packets, but it's not a deal breaker. I really liked that the dry cereal had something besides raisin bran and corn flakes (e.g. Cocoa Puffs--I also like Cocoa Krispies). The location was far enough off the highway to be quiet.

The walls are not very soundproof. The first night we got neighbors who arrived right at our bedtime. Fortunately they didn't turn on the TV but the woman seemed very excitable and talked nonstop when they first got there. I made a comment in a normal voice that we seemed to have gotten talkative neighbors. I think they heard my comment through the walls because the woman finally stopped chattering soon after. The second night was nice because I think the room was empty and all was quiet. I wish motels would put heavier insulation between rooms when they build. Once the place is built, there's not much you can do to insure a quiet, private stay.

The room was old/worn looking, this property needs some updates. The table and chairs in the room were chipped and scratched, the carpet needs to be replaced. To be clear, the room was clean but with the age of things it makes it seem less clean.

The room was very large and clean. We stayed in suite #135, so we parked right in front of the door - super convenient. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very yummy.

I can't say anything needed to be improved. For four days we kept saying to each other how awesome this hotel stay had been.
