Room was very well appointed and decorated, both facilities and appearance, super-clean and well-maintained, reminding me of a high-end hotel. Although room quite small, it served its purpose and had everything one could need, including refrigerator, microwave, full set of toiletries, etc. For the price a great value. And staff also really helpful and accommodating. Also less than a block to the ESTA bus stop for those traveling by bus.

Independence itself has but one sandwich shop, two gas-station markets and two taco trucks but not much else. Great for hikers passing through for a day or two but not a place you'd stay for too many nights.

We spent only one night, but the Courthouse Motel in Independence was just what we needed after a day spent exploring and hiking around the Alabama Hills and Whitney Portal. The very hospitable owner or manager even called to let us know that dining options were limited in town, so that we could make plans. She greeted us with fruit and cookies and showed us to an immaculate room, where we spent a very comfortable, quiet night. Would definitely stay again if traveling in the area.

We reserved a family room which had a queen and 2 twin beds. Although the furnishings are dated, the place is very clean and very tidy. We were warmly welcomed. I mentioned that I was picking up some PCT through hikers and they provided special towels for their clean up (non-white towels :)) They also provided some cookies and fruit for the hikers. Very nice people at this place.

Wifi was spotty in our room but it did work when we needed it.

As noted by others, this is an older motel but it is well kept up and the room and furnishings are clean. The lady who owns and runs the property was very nice and gave us a little basket of fruit and biscuits. Bed was good and heater worked well. Short walk to Dehy Park, the Eastern Sierra Museum and other attractions.

Bathroom was tiny. Can hear the highway., especially when trucks go by.

The owner was very kind and welcoming. She gave us cold water and a fruit basket when we arrived. The room was clean, sheets were high quality, bed was comfortable, and the room had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toiletries including comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, and shower cap. Shower was hot and had good pressure.

The air conditioner was rather noisy, and the wifi was weak and kept cutting out.

The owners/managers were OUTSTANDING!! It was more like family than a hotel. I was greeted with a basket of fruit and cold bottle of water. They were compassionate and loving and so, so welcoming! The motel itself from the outside looks old but looks are very deceiving! It was one of the cleanest and most comfortable motels we've stayed in. We'd go back any time!

It's a small older property, but super clean and tidy and the owners are just amazing! We got a welcome basket of fruit and snacks on arrival, and there were a lot of little extras in the room (mini toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.). A/C worked great, our room was a good size, and the beds were comfortable. Super close to Kearsarge Pass TH which is what we needed. We'll definitely stay again!

PJ and his wife are very friendly and helpful. I always love and appreciate spending time w/ them and having general chit chat. They are always genuinely personable and always provide first rate service and facilities. It's not uncommon to get some tea and snacks in the morning too.

Very clean, comfortable bed. We upgraded from the economy room for one with a Queen bed and a dining table and chairs as we typically bring our own food.

No complaints really. We did need to use the air conditioner to keep room cool. I have never stayed in a hotel ( some much more expensive) that does not allow the room to get too warm and stuffy before the air conditioner comes back on. So, really, no complaints. We were happy the air conditioner worked on par with very expensive hotels.

It’s a very nice family-owned motel on the way to Death Valley. The owner is super nice, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. There is a nice French restaurant next block, and a small coffee shop called ‘Cowboy coffee’ couple blocks away (must go).
