The room had a direct ocean view with a nice patio where we spent quite a bit of time. It was very well-appointed and clean. Also, the bottle of wine and the other goodies that were our welcome gift were greatly appreciated and unexpected. The staff was very responsive to any of our needs.

On the second evening of our stay, we attended the "Sundowner Session", which is basically happy hour, at Salt and Wood, the restaurant on the property. It should be noted that the restaurant is not affiliated with the Sanctuary. We ordered the fresh oysters and the last one I ate tasted a bit off. It was more than a little off. I was sick with Food Poisoning for the next 3 days (pretty much the rest of our stay). The restaurant was very responsive and tried to make things right when I told them what happened, as I didn't want anyone else to go through what I was experiencing.

I had a Deluxe room and that means the Beach/Ocean is directly out the sliding glass door which is great! View of Course is excellent and at night you can see the Monterey Pier all lit up at night. The Fire Place in the room is the heater and you can crank it up and open the sliding glass door to hear the Surf at night, let me tell you, I slept like a baby (that is when I slept ;) ).

Sanctuary lets lodgers bring there dogs. Now I do not mind pets, but I do mind when there owners let them bark for most of the night, not a good thing when you are paying $1000 a night!

To be able to have an Ocean front room , was a plus . To enjoy the sounds of the waves. To be able to enjoy a cup of coffee in the am and Wine in the sunset . To be able to bring our dog and take her for nice walks at the beach . Very nice and peaceful sanctuary . This is one of our favorite spot in Cali.

A Big group of guests had loud music and took over the whole Play court . We could not even enjoyed that area during the couple of days . Some dog owners will not pick up after their dogs or keep dogs on leashes . The location needs a special green area for potty breaks . Not all over the sand .

Location was really great, and views. Location was also pretty convenient despite being outside of Monterey

BEWARE!! - Edit: I got a huge charge of almost $400 with no explanation - and if I hadn't been checking on my bank account I might have not noticed. The charge was not catalogued in the bill or anything. The front desk clerk at first told me some of it was associated with an environmental fee with the resort but that is covered in Booking.com price. I am still actively asking them what this charge is for and also when they will refund it. The bed situation was weird. The blankets were thin and there is no ac or heat thru a central system besides the fire place so it got really cold at night. The bed was also kind of old so it wasn’t super comfortable

Such a nice place. It was recently remodeled. Really nice place to relax. We took our dog since it’s a pet friendly resort.

Not specifically to the property itself but our neighbor complained due to our dog barely barking. I appreciated the hotel being dog friendly and they did everything to accommodate. Overall other guests with dogs were great. Staff was super friendly. Clean resort. Some (actually just 1, our neighbor) were just jerks. Glad we only saw them once. Can’t believe they complained at 3pm when our dog barely barked.

This is where my husband and I got married. We stay at Sanctuary every year on our wedding anniversary. We stayed in an Oceanfront Suite and it was lovely. Gorgeous views and such a lovely and cozy atmosphere. It is our favorite place to stay in the Monterey bay.

The ants that were all over the floor and the counter in the kitchenette. They were everywhere but luckily maintenance came and took care of it right away.

It was a good surprise - it was so good that we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel is renovating the rooms - we stayed the first night in a newly renovated room and the second night in one of the old rooms. The new rooms are very nice and modern, but even the old room was very comfortable. The staff was very supportive and always ready to help. The restaurant is also extremely good. For the second day, we ordered the breakfast to the room and the food came at the time requested. The quality was great. The views from the rooms were amazing, with open view to the beach and sea.

There is nothing negative - maybe consider that this is a resort and you won't be able to park next to the room. The parking spaces are close to reception and guests are moved within the resort by the staff. However, they were always fast and available 24h.

location was awesome. beautiful view from the balcony. room was comfortable for a family of 4.

only downside was the room service/restaurant. breakfast was inconsistent and expensive for what you got. dinner at the restaurant was very disappointing and $$$. service was a hot mess, which i can forgive if the food is great, but it was not. seriously need a new chef. the artichoke and crab dip was terrible! hard to find artichoke in it let alone crab. it was a bowl of under seasoned, undercooked chunks of onion and celery! cioppino had a weird very strong acid flavor and it came with the bread already mushy from being set in the soup. the kids chicken tenders were inedible - so over cooked and flavorless.

I loved the view from our 2nd floor ocean view room. Beautiful view and sounds of the ocean waves crashing. Dog friendly beach. I loved that they set up the firepits with burning wood overlooking the ocean every night from 430 until 10.

I didnt like our hotel door was basically two feet away from the other rooms door. It seems a little ackward to be that close. Also for the quality of the hotel, the sheets could be a better quality.

The beach views were amazing and the staff phenomenal. It was also fabulous to have the staff pick you up in a golf cart to take you anywhere on the property. Also loved how sweet and welcoming they were to our little dog traveling with us. They even added his name to the welcome sign in the lobby and we were able to eat outside at the restaurant on property w/our dog.

Bed mattress was just too hard for my liking but I rarely find a hotel bed that's comfortable. The linens and pillows were lovely though.
